My husband and I moved here 13 years ago and renovated our home on several acres. We added the detached garage with your apartment upstairs. We work during the day but will be available to answer your questions on check in.
We fell in love with the area, the people and the opportunities for endless outdoor activity. We love being so close to the Shakespeare Festival and the great restaurants downtown, but yet in a quiet, peaceful, country setting.
You will be able to walk out your door and enjoy an invigorating hike, bring your bike and head up the mountain for endless biking trails. Enjoy sunbathing, reading or drinking a glass of wine on your private deck which overlooks a forest and seasonal creek.
We had such a nice time in your beautiful place! We will be back to stay with you.
This is a 5 star VRBO for sure!
The owners were very gracious and helpful; the unit was very nicely appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay here very much!
Amazing views from two decks, lots of local wildlife; deer, many birds (can you say wild turkey?) and all the amenities you need for a relaxing, extended stay. We cooked, hiked, saw some fabulous theatre and shopped our way through Ashlands specialty shops, including some fantastic wine and chocolate tastings in Central Point. We will be back and plan to spend more time gazing at the fabulous view and lounging on that huge deck. Maybe barbecue too! Thank you to our wonderful hosts!
For many of the last 35 years, I’ve visited Ashland to see plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival with my husband, friends, family, even solo. I’ve stayed in a range of accommodations from a campground, motels, bed & breakfasts, and vacation rentals. The Treehouse is the best of all of them! In fact, I would rank it as one of the nicest places I’ve stayed ever, and I do quite a bit of traveling. The villa in Umbria is still #1 on my list, but the Treehouse isn’t far behind. Lodging in Ashland can be expensive, so we were happy to find this great place at an affordable rate.
The one-bedroom apartment is perfect for a couple—great bed and linens, comfortable furniture, a well-appointed kitchen (and I do cook), strong Wi-Fi signal, lots of light, and two (!) decks with fabulous views. The location is private, quiet and an easy drive to the theaters. We appreciated the décor too—I would guess that the owners are either artists or people with a keen artistic sensibility because the attention to detail is just better than what a hired interior decorator would do. We are very much looking forward to staying here again next summer.
I echo all the previous reviewers' comments. Don't let the Treehouse's location south of town deter you (unless for some reason you are visiting Ashland without a car). The peaceful privacy of this apartment and the creature comforts provided by our friendly hosts Marty and Michael all added up to the best possible home away from home. We had only planned to see OSF plays while in town, but discovered so many other options for spending our daytime hours: nearby hiking trails, winetasting, dining out or just staying in and enjoying the amazing deck view, good queen bed and comfy chairs, great wifi, eclectic CD and book collection, and streaming video options. An unexpected bonus for being on the outskirts of town: you'll see an array of wildlife (wild turkeys! bears!) from your treetop perch and awesome night skies away from the light pollution of the city. If you are couple looking for a romantic getaway, I can't imagine why you'd want to stay anywhere else in Ashland.
My husband and I spent a long weekend in Ashland and stayed at Marty and Michael's delightful apartment over their detached garage. Every thing previous reviewers have said about this lovely place is right on the mark. The kitchen is outfitted more completely than most places we've stayed, the living/dining space is large and comfortable and the bedroom is comfy, too, decorated in soothing colors. There are even robes to use! The bathroom has all the amenities you'd find in an upscale hotel, with some extras. And then there's the deck...big with several seating areas and gorgeous views of the mountains. Yes, you have to drive to downtown and the OSF, but it's only a few minutes and we never had trouble parking, even on play nights. Ashland is a charming small city used to catering to many people from all over the world who come to the justifiably famous Oregon Shakepeare Festival. There are wonderful restaurants and shops, week-end farmer's markets and craft fairs, and, a bonus, great Rogue Valley wine tasting. A winery we strongly recommend is DAN CIN, on the road into Jacksonville. Not only are their wines wonderful, the setting is gorgeous, they serve yummy small plates and Dan, one of the owners who was pouring the afternoon we were there, is so passionate about the wines (and gives a generous tasting pour) we stayed much longer than we expected. We had a terrific time, made even more terrific by this ab-fab property. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else, now that we've found it. Thank you, Marty and Michael!
This VRBO is even better than the pictures! The indoor space is well appointed and comfortable for two. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook most of our meals at "home." After spending the month of March in Ashland, we found no better views than the ones out our windows and off the decks.
Access to I-5 is easy and avoids the congestion of downtown Ashland. There is a wonderful grocery store, Shop N Kart, a quick drive down Tolman Creek Rd. It is a short drive to downtown Ashland and the parking was plentiful during our stay.
Our hosts, Marty and Michael, were very helpful but gave us plenty of privacy on their beautiful property. This VRBO is a gem at any price!
