Overview

Putnam Station House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8).

'That Red House' is a recently constructed lakeside home. The house design is eclectic and unique with both modern and Adirondack decor. The Great room is open and airy with cathedral ceilings and is surrounded by numerous windows and an unobstructed view of Black Mountain to the south. Teak wood and tile floors run throughout the house.

The gourmet kitchen, fully stocked with all cooking implements, dishes, etc, is adjacent to the Great Room. Nearby is a wet bar, dining area and powder room.

There is a 15' X 20' deck adjacent to the great room for simply relaxing or enjoying a meal lakeside. As well, we have a covered Adirondack porch 7' X 16' which offers privacy and a spectacular view of the lake to the south.

The Master bedroom/bath is on the main floor with a large tile shower, washer/dryer and an over sized sliding glass door to the deck. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are located on the lower level as well as a large recreation area, triple bunk bed and a second full bath. A sliding glass door provides access to the lower sitting area complete with Adirondack chairs, a fire pit and a view of the lake.

We are part of an association which boasts a large deep water U-shaped dock with a slip available for a boat up to 21 feet in length. As well, we have 3 to 4 kayaks for our guests use. Swimming off the dock is a breeze due to a sturdy ladder making it easy to get in and out of beautiful Lake George. Guests with small children may wish to visit the town beach. Gull Bay town beach is a five minute drive from the house and is located in Gull Bay. It is a clean and quiet sandy beach that slopes gently into the water.

Keywords: Lake front, gourmet kitchen, stunning views, private, quiet, beautiful sunsets, kayaking, fishing, boating & swimming

Amazing fall retreat!

  • 5 of 5
We loved every minute we spent in this house. It was clean, comfortable, and better equipped than any other house I have stayed in. The owner was friendly and helpful throughout the whole rental process. While it was chilly out, we still kayaked and even took a quick jump in the lake. It was freezing but really fun. We also walked the mile out to Gull Bay Preserve and took a 3 mile hike with the kids. A barred owl followed our motions for a while! Having the wood stove made the house toasty and comfortable after a day out in the cold with the kids. I would love to return!

Everything as advertised and more...

  • 5 of 5
The house lived up to all the photos as presented, modern amenities, beautifully crafted home with distinctive charm, comfortable rooms. The house was extremely well equipped just as if we were at home. Unfortunately the weather was a bit nasty thus precluding our desire to utilize the conveniently located kayaks. The lake and its water was pristine. Much time was spent enjoying the lake view from the elevated living room. Also enjoyed the historic and entertaining family trip to Fort Ticonderoga as well as our tour of downtown Lake George (though many businesses had closed for the season a week prior to our arrival). You definitely need a car, preferably with a bit of ground clearance to get to and from the property. Gets our strongest recommendation as a top tier getaway.

Owner's Response: Our home is well located to take in many sites and attractions found in the Lake George region. Although the weather was not conducive to getting actually on the water, you certainly managed to find numerous things to serve as warm and happy memories of your family vacation. Fort Ticonderoga, 15 minutes from our home, is truly a 'must do' trip for any group. It is wonderful to know how much your family and yourself enjoyed our home and it's many amenities. Thank you for your respectful care of our home and for your recognition of our efforts to create a comfortable and out of the ordinary experience for our guests.

Picturesque Stay on Lake George

  • 5 of 5
My husband, daughter, son-in-law and dog spent a lovely weekend at the "Red House". We were so thrilled to find such a lovely home that would also accommodate our four-legged guest! The home is absolutely stunning with vaulted ceilings, large windows looking right onto the lake, a gourmet kitchen and large deck for relaxing. There was no detail missed and all of the instruction and tips and tricks posted around the house were much appreciated. We were fortunate to sneak in a boat day right before most rental locations close for the season and would highly recommend a day on the water while you're here. So pleased with our stay and hope to return next year!

We have taken great efforts in the design of our home with the goal of creating a comfortable and hasslefree vacation spot. Thank you for being such wonderful guests, we look forward to your return!

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5
Our family couldn't be happier with our time and experience at The Red House! We greatly enjoyed the peace and solitude and felt like we had the lake to ourselves! The house has everything you can think of with views of the lake abound! Lake George is a beautiful body of water and fortunately we had fantastic boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking...you name it! The public beach in the next bay is a gem and is awesome since we have small children. The dock space with sun deck was wonderful with plenty of fishing action to keep the attention of young children! If you bring a boat, there is a wonderful town dock directly across the lake in Hague where you can grab supplies or even have a wonderful dinner. Also in Hague is a marina with dockside service for fuel which was super convenient after tubing and skiing all day! So many places to explore! It's a short drive to Vermont and only 15 minutes to historic Fort Ticonderoga! Also wonderful Adirondack hiking is a short ride in any direction. If you're considering renting - we highly recommend doing so as we're already looking at our calendar for a repeat visit! We can't thank the owner's enough - they were wonderful, thoughtful (thanks for the s'mores!) and responsive and really made our trip even more relaxing!

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a thorough and informative review! You have demonstrated that the lake can be as exciting and fun filled during September as it is during July and August. Not only is the weather typically excellent and the water still warm, there are fewer boats and people making a vacation that much more special. You and your family certainly took in an amazing array of activities on and around the lake. I was so pleased with the care and respect you gave our home, especially considering all your little ones.Thank you for being such wonderful guests, I look forward to your return!

This was our second stay at That Red House in Putnam Station. Despite poor boating weather and rain we still enjoyed the beauty of Lake George because this house has a magnificent view of Black Mountain. We highly recommend this property to anyone who needs a break from the real world!

AMAZING FAMILY VACA - Couldnt ask for more

  • 5 of 5
My family for 4 and our dog choose this house for a "new experience". We would always stay closer to Lake George Village but decided we needed a more quiet vacation. When arriving to the house you experience lovely farm land and country lifestyle. The roads getting to the house were an adventure all in itself. You go through trees and forest life and see different animals.
The house when arrived was supper clean and smelled fresh. As soon as we opened the door the owners left music playing which set the atmosphere like we were in a hotel. The huge ceilings and wooden accents were amazing. You knew you were in the Adirondacks by all the decorations. Kitchen was fully stocked and so were the bathrooms. Liens were supplied and freshly washed. They have cleaning supplies , first aid kit, and many bug sprays. The views were amazing with all different kinds of trees and the lakes view goes on for miles. The trail to the water and docks felt like you were doing a small hike in the woods which was great. The water was deep but so clear you could see the bottom. Tons of small fish you can go fishing for (I caught 8). We rented a boat and had our own dock space. It was overall very private and not noisy. The only neighbors you can see are from the association if you are on the dock.
I recommend bringing lots of dvds if your family is a big tv fan. They are stocked with movies and games for kids. Also a kennel for your dog and dog bed. They supplied fishing poles and nets, life jackets and water supplies.
The owner is very quick in answering any questions you have while on your stay or before (trust me I asked alotttt of question regarding everything) don't hesitate to ask.
GREAT PLACE, were going back for more next summer!

Owner's Response: The location of our home, which sits on the north eastern shores of Lake George, really does offer a different experience than that found to the south in Lake George Village. Although the closest store or restaurant is a 15 minute car drive away, the quiet and peacefulness is an easy trade off for many of our guests. Our association dock provides a place to park your boat, for swimming or for simply relaxing and enjoying the views of beautiful Lake George. I'm happy your family discovered the northern end of Lake George and experienced the natural beauty of the Adirondacks and it's waters. I look forward to your return next summer!
