Unique private lakefront setting, 3 acres nestled in the trees with over 200 feet of beautiful lakefront shoreline access via an amazing boardwalk that borders the brook that runs through the property down to the lake. This custom built home has a great open layout includes a double height ceiling living room, 3 fireplaces, dining room, kitchen, 2 en-suite bedrooms that connect to huge deck around the house with outside screened dining gazebo, separate full floor master bedroom with sitting area and jacuzzi in master bath. Wide plank custom floors and beams from an abandoned New Hampshire barn add to the charm of this home perfect for entertaining or equally restful as a place to read, relax and enjoy nature. Private gated driveway with wireless remote controlled entry. Queen beds in all rooms, linens provided.

The property is walking distance to 3 wonderful land trust hiking trails. Great restaurants, shopping and spas nearby.

Swim directly from the private dock in a blissfully clean and serene lake. Great private fenced yard and garden.

About The Owner

NYC family with young children, we vacation in Europe during the summer and offered our wonderful country home as a vacation rental opportunity for the first time in 2012. It worked out so well that we are doing it again in 2013.

The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 1994
Why The Owner chose Southbury

Originally we lived here full time and then as a weekend getaway when we moved fulltime to New York City in 1998.

We had always wanted to live on a lake and personally enjoyed waterskiing and boating all our lives. When we saw this property almost 20 years ago, site, we feel in love with it and hope to retire here within the next ten years. We had our wedding reception here and so the home has a special place in our hearts.

The house was amazing and had everything one could possibly want! The owner was so kind and helpful, we were able to use everything in the house and feel right at home! The house is truly beautiful, with every amenity. Tucked away in a private nook, the home is a beautiful place with everything one could need to catch up with family and good friends. We will definitely be staying again!

Amazing Thanksgiving

Six friends and I decided not to go home for Thanksgiving, but instead to rent a house and and cook Thanksgiving dinner ourselves. We couldn't have picked a better house! This house has three ovens, the perfect amount of counter space, a huge table, and everything you could possibly need--seriously. On top of an amazing kitchen, the house is laid out perfectly for a group of adults (we're all in our mid-late 20's); firewood & boardgames were a nice surprise. The owner of the house, Rich, was also so hospitable. I think we'll be back to check out the lake in the summer.

Our experience was very favorable. The house was beautiful and in a very private location. There were other houses around but you really could not see them. We found everything we needed at the house and the property manager and the owners were very helpful. The view from the house was like being in a rain forest. The lake was very hard to see in August. The view of the lake in fall and winter, I'm sure would be better. Fall must be magnificent! Our only concerns while we were at Riverbrook was the long walk to the lake(233 steps) and that finding the house was very tricky. You need a good map or better yet a GPS. All in all, the house was great, and the trip was very enjoyable. Loved the hot tub and the 3 ensuite bedroom/bathrooms! An excellent home and property!

Thanks for a greet vacation!

My husband and two teenagers just spent a week at Riverbrook, and had a wonderful time. The house is comfortable and well-stocked, with everything we needed for the week from beach towels to tin foil. The sunporch provided a lovely spot for sitting in the early evening, and we enjoyed the spa. But the highlight was the lake. We docked our ski boat at the owner's dock for a week, and water-skied and wake-boarded every day. We also spent time exploring the area, hiking, and biking. All in all it was an ideal vacation and we'd recommend this house to anyone who loves the out of doors.

Lovely home on Lake Lillinonah

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. You feel like you are in a tree house looking out back towards the lake. The beams, floors and antiques really make it a unique home.
It's a hike to the lake, but well worth it when you get there and see how beautiful it is. The swimming was perfect!
The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. We enjoyed eating out in the gazebo.
The jacuzzi is an added bonus to enjoy a glass of wine while looking out into the woods.
