About linda and charlie

My husband and I have been renovating homes for decades and he is a retired master carpenter and i a retired real estate broker so we have a real feel for great properties and had a eye on this one for years before it came on the market. We wanted a home on a lake with mountain views, with a country feel but all the amenities of a resort and found it in Hot Springs Village. We are hikers and especially love fall hiking here in the village and the surrounding areas. You will find us on the lake either in a hobie cat or on a windsurfer or swimming most any summer day. Winter hiking is great here. The terrain is really interesting without the foliage. We love the availability of having 9 golf courses to chose from within minutes of our home and you can play year round here.

linda and charlie purchased this house in 2012

Why linda and charlie chose Hot Springs Village

We decided to purchase this property because we live on Lake Desoto ourselves and thought it would be great to invest in a house that we could share with others so that they too might enjoy Hot Springs Village and the amenities that go with living here. The home has a slightly rustic interior which gives it a cabin feel. The setting is very quiet and peaceful.

What makes this house unique

Lake Desoto has wonderful mountain views and is great for water sports, such as swimming, fishing, windsurfing, boating, and skiing.

Some of my most favorite hiking trails are just minutes from this house.

Close to the front gate where you can easily find Walmart, restaurants, and easy access to Hot Springs.

all 8 golf courses are from 5 minutes to 15 minutes away.

Lake Desoto has a sandy beach, and a marina.

The fitness center here in Hot Springs Village is superb, there is up to date equipment, many fitness classes such as yoga,Pilates, step, aquatic classes, and spinning classes.

There are tennis courts and outdoor pool and restaurants within minutes of the home.

We love the huge treed level lot surrounded on two sides by Lake Desoto, the inside of the house with its vaulted wooded ceiling, natural stone fireplace, and open floor plan the screened in porch looking out at the mountains and the lake. Easy steps going downstairs to the large den and 2 bedrooms the walkout patio with its redwood arbor. The previous owners were railroad people and placed railroad lights at the entrance to the property and planted trees on both sides of the long driveway going to the property. They clearly had a well thought out vision when they designed and built this lovely property.

Spring Break Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a nice Spring Break Getaway in this vacation home. The owners are very thoughtful and care about the quality of your stay. Even though it was rainy during our stay, our kids enjoyed playing with the ping pong table and board games. We enjoyed relaxing on the covered and screened-in patio. The home provides a nice layout for families. We can't wait to visit again.

Owner's Response: We added the ping pong table this winter. We had so much fun playing on a cruise ship that we decided it would be a good addition to our property and with the rain we had in early march it has really been used. Some of my fondest memories of child hood was playing cards and board games as a family. So I hope even though you were unable to enjoy outside activities that you and your children remember this spring break fondly for years to come. We are shopping for a paddle boat as an addition to our property. The POA will be renting both bicycles and stand up paddle boards this year at the marina on our lake. So please do come back soon there will be plenty for everyone including your golfer husband to do as the weather warms up. Thank you again for choosing our guesthouse.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay in our home. The weather was not very cooperative during your visit but we are glad you enjoyed a warm toasty fire. We hope you do come back when the weather is warmer and the lake which is lowered for dredging and seawall repair is up so that you can get out on the kayaks and search for those eagles. Also I know you wondered over to Lake Oauchita and they have eagle tours on the water for a very low price. They also have other events scheduled throughout the year and you can check their website for dates and times and reservations. We have really enjoyed the events that they offer. You should also check Woodlands in the village they offer musicals, concerts and plays for a very nominal fee and the auditorium is wonderful, there are no bad seats. We have a new venue here in the village called Base Camp which offers paddle board rentals and guided hikes be sure and google that for information. Our village is a great place to enjoy nature and to be outside and play. I think the horse races were even canceled due to extremely cold weather during the time you were here. I know that was something else you wanted to try. We have been like the rest of the country experiencing some really cold weather but this week it has gotten into the sixties on most days. Charlie and I have been hitting the golf courses all weekend. Thank you again for choosing our guesthouse. You guys were such considerate and pleasant visitors. We appreciate you very much.

Anniversary/weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I rented the Windsurfer Guest house this past weekend as a little getaway for our anniversary. We loved the house! It has an awesome balcony view of the lake and is surrounded by trees. We enjoyed a cup of coffee as a herd of deer roamed the backyard and had a nice fire in the fireplace with a few cocktails in the evening. It was very relaxing and just what we were looking for. We will definitely keep this place in mind next time we need to get away from the city. Thanks again Charlie and Linda!

Owner's Response: We are so glad you both enjoyed the short time you had in the village. The weather wasn't the best but the leaves were still showing their colors. The weather was perfect for a good fire. That little herd of deer come through on a regular basis. I laughingly refer to them as the girls. We really hope you will come back in warmer weather and enjoy the lake. I know you like to fish. There have been some 50 lbs plus catfish caught in the lake and I have seen some nice size bass. Personally I am all about the swim and the cove the house is on is a great quiet place to sun and swim.

Perfect for us

  • 5 of 5

Four guys on a golf outing to HSV. We waited until the last minute to book due to concerns about November weather and the owners were very flexible with us and their communication was great. The house was very clean and well appointed. We had everything required for post-golf relaxation - comfortable couches, flat screens for college football and the downstairs table was perfect for cards & dominoes. We utilized the gas grill for steaks and brats and had everything needed in the kitchen for our meals. The surroundings are very quiet & peaceful. Definitely a great house & location that we will consider again for future visits.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that mother nature cooperated with your guys golfing outing. The weather really was fabulous for golf. You timed it perfectly. We were out there playing ourselves. Fall is our favorite time to play golf. Not only are you golfing but the trees put on a whole show of their own. The golf courses here are so beautiful but add the fall cover and its hard not to think that there is no place better than the village. We are so thankful to live here and are really happy we can provide a comfortable place for others to come and enjoy the amenities and the beauty that Hot Springs offers. We would love to have you guys back and are happy to work with you on short notice. Thanks again for choosing Windsurfer's Guesthouse.

We want to come back every year!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at this awesome lake house! This was my family's first time to Hot Springs Village, but we were so impressed we can't wait to come back. This house was the perfect location for us. We were able to relax, but still had plenty to do. We spent our days fishing, kayaking, swimming and exploring the village. The screened-in porch was one of our favorite things about the house and we enjoyed sitting out there to visit and eat with the beautiful scenery in the background. At night, we had so much fun playing games and watching movies inside the beautiful lake house. We loved being able to enjoy the nature too and saw many deer and a chipmunk that hung out by the lake house! I highly recommend this lake house to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. It was clean, spacious and beautiful. We can't wait to come back!

Owner's Response: So glad your vacation was memorable. We feel the same way you do there is such a variety of things to do here. In addition to all the things to do on the lake there is the fabulous golf courses, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, many really interesting trails to walk and of course in the winter the horse races in Hot Springs. If you are not a gambler there is great food and I enjoy just viewing the horses and watching them compete. I think we might squeeze a couple of more weeks out of the lake but I really look forward to the blaze of color that is everywhere around us in the fall. We are glad you would like to come back. We plan on adding new amenities each year. This year was the picnic table and the kayaks we are considering paddle boat and ping pong table. Thank you for choosing our guest house you guys were great vacationers.
