Very relaxing, romantic birthday escape with my husband
My husband surprised me for my 40th with a trip to St. Croix. It took my breath away upon entering the villa and seeing the gorgeous view! It was clean, spacious and welcoming. The on site housekeeper, Bobbie, left us a lovely arrangement of local flowers and a bottle of Cruzan rum. Cheers! Due to the tropical temps & lighter breezes during our visit, we did use the ac at night in the bedroom. The king bed is best for those preferring a firmer mattress, while the queen is a bit softer. The villa has everything you need for the week and then some. We were "greeted" every night upon our return "home" by a family of 3 deer on the golf course. Restaurants we HIGHLY recommend: Duggan's for the whiskey-rum lobster, Chicken Shack for their 1/2 chicken & plantains, No Bones for the BBQ ribs, Angry Nate's for the view, Off the Wall for their bingo night & sunset, Cheeseburger for their ... Duh, burgers and saving the best for last: Savant for the romantic ambience & their filet mignon. For a massage go see Dana at The Tamarind Spa. For a sailing charter to Buck Island you can't beat Lou and Glue of Lewellyn's Charter. The beach at Tamarind is nice with an area for snorkeling, lounge chairs, hammocks & tikis to rent. However, the Reef Beach has all of that and is quaint & secluded since Duggan's doesn't open until 5pm. We spent time "JEEPin'" around the island making little stops to sightsee along the way. We took the Cruzan & Capt. Morgan rum tours. The most incredible part of our trip was the connections we made with the people on the island. Due to it being their "off season", we had the opportunity to get to know people at the restaurants and bars. Frank Duggan, the owner of Duggan's just happened to be tending the bar the night we went. What a neat guy with a great story of what brought him to St. Croix. We met His friend, Chuck, owner of No Bones, that night also & he invited us to have ribs Thursday night. Dana & Shannon at Tamarind Spa are sweethearts. Shannon even offered her therapy boot to me after I sprained my ankle. I can't say enough about Lou & Glue who took us sailing. By the time we debarked, we felt like we'd known them for years. I did injure my ankle halfway through our week, but I couldn't have been in a better place to be "forced" to lounge around. If you are looking for a tropical, somewhat secluded, beautiful, beach lovers paradise... Book a stay at this villa. You will return home relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed!
