Fun Girls Week - 3rd stay at The Reef

  • 5 of 5
We all had a great vacation. I have stayed at the reef for the past 3 years and love it. It is clean, comfortable and the views are amazing. Was pleasantly surprised to find new ceramic top stove/oven, sink/faucet and countertops in kitchen!! The condo is perfectly positioned with a fantastic view of Buck Island and the golf course and close to the amazing pool area perched on top of the resort. At night the stars are so close you feel like you can touch them. Condo was fully stocked with food and libations upon arrival by BubblesUSVI, breakfast was most mornings at The Deep End, wonderful dinners were had at Bluewater Terrace, Duggans, Bombay Club, Castaways, Angry Nates and Maria's at Gallows Bay....best Mexican ever!! Of course "The Master" Capt Lou took us out to Buck Island for snorkeling and hanging out at the beach on Charis. Love hanging out at Ziggy (try the ROTIS...Yummy). We spent a whole day going around the whole Island sightseeing and shopping. Beach at the Divi is also good for snorkeling and sunbathing. I have already booked for two...yes two weeks in June 2015 ....am looking forward to returning to this amazing condo and "life in the left lane". Thanks Laura for sharing your piece of paradise!!

Perfect! Quiet, safe, and great location.

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for about two weeks, our first trip to St. Croix. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the condo. Everything is just as described and pictured in the photos. Laura was VERY helpful in planning our trip! And Bobbie had everything set up so nicely for us. We never met her, as we arrived rather late in the evening on our check-in day, and we never had any issues during the whole stay. We walked in the door to find a nice note, bottle of Cruzan rum, and beautiful flowers. It was such a nice welcome after a long day of travel and driving across the island after dark! The king bed upstairs was so comfortable. We used the AC frequently (just while sleeping), but we were able to leave it off on windy nights. The kitchen had everything we needed. We also had everything we needed for beach days - several beach towels, a little cooler, drink cozies, we even found extra sunscreen in the condo when we had 2 days left and didn't want to buy a new tube! The Reef is extremely peaceful, quiet, VERY safe. I'm very happy we stayed on the East End. Duggan's was phenomenal - such delicious food! Their bar is great too - Jamie is an excellent bartender. So nice that the restaurant is so close, plus we spent lots of time reading in the hammocks on the Reef beach. We also went to Buck Island with Llewellyn as Laura recommended - best experience of our trip! I would definitely stay here again - it's so nice to work with a helpful, friendly owner.

Million dollar view ! Safe , Clean , comfortable furnishing, exactly as pictured

  • 5 of 5
We had the privilege of spending our winter at this lovely condo.
The listing and photo's are accurate, the owner is more than accomodating and helpful, a true pleasure to deal with. Our deposit was returned via mail within a few days of checking out.
The villa is well equipped, kitchen has everything you need, we especially liked having the slow cooker! The beds and furniture are comfortable. The condo catches the sea breezes so we never used the air conditioning once in 3 months. I liked that it was a free standing unit not sharing walls with anyone else. We loved the patio with the view of the Caribbean Sea , spectacular! We ate most of our meals out there.
Everything was very clean and the grounds in the whole complex are maintained on an ongoing basis. The grounds are beautiful, flowering shrubs everywhere. The Reef is a gated community based around a golf course. It was nice to be able to go for a walk any time of day or night and feel safe. We had only one small mechanical issue during the whole 3 months and it was taken care of immediately.

There is a awesome restaurant at the bottom of the hill, and many others near by. Great pizza just a mile down the road at Blue Water Terrace. We spent many hours at the beach at the bottom of the hill, there are chairs there for the Reef residents to use. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the beach but it is a hot steep climb going home so we often took the car down. There are so many different beaches to explore. Our absolute hands down favourite was Sandy Pointe, it is only open on Saturdays and Sundays - September to April. We also spent a lot of time at the beach at the Bucaneer Resort, it is about 10 minutes drive away. You pay a $4.00 facility fee per person at the gate and then you have access to the beach, the rest rooms, etc. They have a great restaurant beach side as well. The water is calm and very nice for swimming. Cane Bay is also worth the drive as are the Fredicksted beaches on cruise ship days, Rainbow beach is good any day but really loud on Sunday's. Another highlite is the Sea Through Kayak Bioluminescent tour, fantastic! and we did the sunset sail with Big Beard's, awesome !
You need a car. Driving on the left is no problem, main roads were pretty good. From the airport to the condo the road signage is very good. Other parts of the island not so well marked, It's an adventure.
A beautiful island to explore with a very lovely place to come back to at the end of each day !

Very relaxing, romantic birthday escape with my husband

  • 5 of 5
My husband surprised me for my 40th with a trip to St. Croix. It took my breath away upon entering the villa and seeing the gorgeous view! It was clean, spacious and welcoming. The on site housekeeper, Bobbie, left us a lovely arrangement of local flowers and a bottle of Cruzan rum. Cheers! Due to the tropical temps & lighter breezes during our visit, we did use the ac at night in the bedroom. The king bed is best for those preferring a firmer mattress, while the queen is a bit softer. The villa has everything you need for the week and then some. We were "greeted" every night upon our return "home" by a family of 3 deer on the golf course. Restaurants we HIGHLY recommend: Duggan's for the whiskey-rum lobster, Chicken Shack for their 1/2 chicken & plantains, No Bones for the BBQ ribs, Angry Nate's for the view, Off the Wall for their bingo night & sunset, Cheeseburger for their ... Duh, burgers and saving the best for last: Savant for the romantic ambience & their filet mignon. For a massage go see Dana at The Tamarind Spa. For a sailing charter to Buck Island you can't beat Lou and Glue of Lewellyn's Charter. The beach at Tamarind is nice with an area for snorkeling, lounge chairs, hammocks & tikis to rent. However, the Reef Beach has all of that and is quaint & secluded since Duggan's doesn't open until 5pm. We spent time "JEEPin'" around the island making little stops to sightsee along the way. We took the Cruzan & Capt. Morgan rum tours. The most incredible part of our trip was the connections we made with the people on the island. Due to it being their "off season", we had the opportunity to get to know people at the restaurants and bars. Frank Duggan, the owner of Duggan's just happened to be tending the bar the night we went. What a neat guy with a great story of what brought him to St. Croix. We met His friend, Chuck, owner of No Bones, that night also & he invited us to have ribs Thursday night. Dana & Shannon at Tamarind Spa are sweethearts. Shannon even offered her therapy boot to me after I sprained my ankle. I can't say enough about Lou & Glue who took us sailing. By the time we debarked, we felt like we'd known them for years. I did injure my ankle halfway through our week, but I couldn't have been in a better place to be "forced" to lounge around. If you are looking for a tropical, somewhat secluded, beautiful, beach lovers paradise... Book a stay at this villa. You will return home relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed!

Excellent, As Always! The Reef is a Gem!

  • 5 of 5
August marks my second visit to The Reef condos this year. St. Croix is simply awesome, as you know. That being said, I must say that St. Croix is a bit warm during August, and there's very little air conditioning, so you heat sensitive people--keep that in mind. My March visit was absolutely perfect weather, August was hot (but I knew that getting into this).

We played tennis at the Reef 5 times during this week long visit--I suggest you start playing at around 8am, or else suffer from heat exhaustion!

I cannot recommend Duggan's Reef Restaurant highly enough (right across the street from this condo). You MUST eat there, it's incredible. We at there several times, and we probably should have simply eaten there every night....The Dive Bar is an excellent lunch spot, with a great beach, check that out as well. The Galleon has an excellent acoustic artist (Dave/Acoustic Sauce) on Friday nights, that is a wonderful night of fine dining. People dress up for the Galleon, but I stayed in my t-shirt and shorts--nobody seemed to care.

Take the Cruzan rum tour, it's only $5 and it's kind of cool.

Drive to the North Shore, and have lunch/dinner at a place called "Eat @ Cane's Bay". Awesome awesome awesome!!!

Ok, back to the condo. What can I say that hasn't already been said, it's fantastic. The pool was perfect this time of year (it was too cold for my taste in March, perfect in August). We will be coming back soon.

Here's another great thing about this condo--Laura (the owner) has someone on-site (Bobble) who can help out if something goes wrong. I ran into Bobbie a couple of times, nice lady, but nothing ever went wrong so there was no need.

Needless to say, we'll be back for a third visit! Thanks again Laura!

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5
There were 4 of us in our party and we loved the property.. Laura was extremely, helpful with any questions we had . We used the air the first 2 day's, as there wasn't much of a breeze, but after that found it cooler without it on. Took us some time to find the property ,due to very poor signage on the Island. The snorkling was awesome, especially in Cane Bay,
I would recommend staying here .. Buying your own ice is a must as the fridge just can't keep up. We were greeted by a bottle of rum on the table and some Hibiscus flower's and Ixora's in wter for the tropical feel..
