5000+ SQ FT SECLUDED RIVERFRONT HOME ON 2 ACRES OF WOODLAND

Bruce House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Office, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-12)

This luxurious 5000+ square foot river-front southern-style home sits on two acres of beautiful wooded land. We’re situated in the very quiet part of the Flambeau River where the river is shallow and the flow is gentle, making it perfect for canoeing, tubing, and kayaking. It’s secluded and private, and there are 1000 undeveloped acres across the road. This home provides easy access to over 2000 acres of ATV and snowmobile trails and is four short miles away from the Chippewa River and Lake Holcombe landing.

We have 235 feet of river frontage, and from the wrap-around balcony that offers a sweeping view of the river, you can watch bald eagles soar and dive for fish as you sip your morning coffee. Dangle your feet off the new dock and fish for muskie, sturgeon, bass, northern pike, catfish, and yes, the occasional annoying sucker fish, or take the flat-bottomed fishing boat out to explore fishing opportunities further out. Alternatively, you can take the canoe and imagine what it was like to be a Native American canoeing this same river a couple hundred years ago.

In the evening, enjoy a mixed drink made at the festive outdoor tiki bar and watch the beautiful sunsets over the river. Fire up the gas grill and prepare your catch of the day, and after dark, gather around the fire pit on the natural log seating and roast marshmallows around the fire.

Tearing yourself away from the outdoors will be difficult, but when you do, you’ll be greeted by a warm, cheerful home and a 3-foot porcelain pig offering apples on a platter. You’ll find whimsical things like this throughout the home as this is a haven for fun and relaxation. You’ll want for nothing as far as kitchen appliances are concerned. Make use of a coffee pot, microwave, crock pot, 3-pot crock pot buffet server, griddle, waffle iron, pizza oven, deep fryer, blender, mixer, toaster, several sets of dishes, margarita set, bake ware, cookware, wine glasses, and drink glasses. The large pantry has all the basics

– sugar, flour, spices, etc. Just make sure to replace the stuff you finish so that the next person can enjoy the conveniences of home, too!

There is a large master bedroom with a luxurious queen bed and attached master bath (with hot tub!) on the main floor, two comfortable bedrooms (one with a full bed and the other with two twin beds) and a full bath on the lower level. Also on the lower level is an office/bedroom and a large laundry room for all of your laundry needs. The 400 square foot loft up above the main floor can accommodate several queen air beds (there are three for your use). My grandchildren love to have slumber parties in the loft, and all ten of them can easily fit with room to spare!

The home has beautiful hand-stained cherry wood cathedral ceilings, a cozy gas fireplace, central air, geothermal heating, Wi-Fi, and DirectTV for your convenience. Bed linens and towels are provided, and there are a few beach towels, too.

And last, but certainly not least, there’s a HUGE 3+ car finished, heated garage with a marble-topped wine bar. We often use this garage as a gathering place for our extended family on holidays. Complete with a fun palm tree adorned with lights, we love to have holiday meals in there and can easily fit a dozen people. There are also tables that can be used for scrapbooking, quilting, jewelry-making, and other crafting get-togethers.

If you feel the need to leave this amazing property, there are two golf courses nearby, or you can drive to the nearby town of Ladysmith for all of your shopping and antiquing desires. Ski slopes are about an hour away, and so is my mother if you’d like to stop in and say hello (just kidding, although she would likely dish you up a nice warm bowl of homemade soup!)

Seriously, though, I love this property, and I’m sure you will, too. I’m excited to share it with you!

I fell in love with this house the first time that I saw it. Unfortunately, I'm not able to be here full time so I decided to share it with others that enjoy beauty and the outdoors. I have three children, nine grandchildren and one little great granddaughter and they all love it here. I enjoy sharing this unique and peaceful home and have had wonderful guests.

Ann Nelsen purchased this house in 2006

I decided to purchase this property before I ever walked into it - a case of love at first sight. It has a plantation type feeling, two acres of land, a balcony overlooking the river and a great eco system. This home is secluded, the river is quiet, and it's a wonderful place to renew your spirit before you return to the 'real' world.

I love sitting on my balcony with a warm cup of coffee in the mornings while I watch the eagles swoop and dive for fish. I also love sitting around the fire pit with my grand kids while we sing silly songs, tell tall tales, and make smores. The river's shallow enough on the near side that the kids can wade into it right off the shore, and it's deep enough on the far side that they can take the canoe or the fishing boat out and fish the deeper waters. My grandson's largest Sturgeon so far is over 50 inches meanwhile my great granddaughter loves picking the blackberries - and my flowers but what can you say to a cute three year old that brings you a bouquet of petunia's and weeds? You put them in a vase and love them!

MEMORIES AND MORE.

  • 5 of 5
Our family and friends embarked on a journey to find the best location to spend quality time together. We were looking for solitude, something safe, eye appealing, near the water, and something that would be enjoyable for all our friends and family. Undoubtedly this house provided everything we were looking for and couldn't have asked for a better venue to spend quality time with friends and family.

Everything described by the owner about the house is spot on and no embellishment. There is a large backyard situated on the bank of a the Flambeau Chanel. The house is so comfortable with a great view of the river. There are hummingbirds every where you look! The overall feel of the house is breathtaking. Hardwood ceiling, soft carpet, large kitchen, great living room and the bedroom sizes are great! If this isn't enough, there is a hot tub in the upstairs bathroom!! In the bathroom!

Apart from the aesthetic pleasantries of the house, the owner is beyond kind in her approach. She's orderly, polite, and timely. She met us at the house at a designated time and had the entire house cleaned and prepared for us. We could not have asked for a better venue to spend our vacation. If you choose to book something else you're making a huge mistake!

A PERFECT WEEKEND FOR OUR FAMILY TO GATHER AND RECONNECT

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from a fabulous weekend at this lovely home. We had family members from Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan meet up to celebrate Father's Day weekend. We could not have chosen a better place! The house is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need. Our group ranged from 14 to 75 years old and there was something for everyone. We had a large group but there was ample room for comfortable sleeping, cooking, eating and playing games.

We took Ann's advice and did our grocery shopping on our way there so that we didn't have to spend our "together time" running to the store. Ann keeps the pantry stocked with "just in case items" so if you do forget something, you are bound to find it in the kitchen. Every kitchen appliance, serving piece and utensil you could possibly need are there.

We took advantage of everything the place had to offer: the canoe, the fishing boat, the inflatable tubes, the fire pit, and the hot tub (which is a full size hot tub and not just an oversize bathtub). There was more than enough firewood for large fires every night.

We particularly enjoyed floating downstream to Flader's Resort. On our way, a bald eagle flew overhead with a fish in his claws. It was an amazing sight and one of the highlights for our kids. The wildlife was abundant and during our stay we saw wild turkey, turtles, bald eagles, hummingbirds and lots of deer.

If it sounds like I'm gushing, it's true. But our family had a thoroughly enjoyable time and I can't think of a think that was missing.

Thank you, Ann, for a wonderful experience!

A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!

  • 5 of 5
Our group of friends sought solitude, nature and great fishing, all of which we found at this expansive home on the banks of the wild and scenic Flambeau River. The home itself was clean and comfortable. The garage provided space to fiddle with tackle and play cards and board games. The canoe and jon boat provided allow travel up and down the river where we were able to catch smallmouth bass, muskie (not an easy feat), and walleye. The fire pit and ample amount of firewood make for restful and reflective evenings. Everything we'd forgot to bring along (bath towels and paper towels, extra pillows, kitchen spices and condiments, etc.) was somewhere to be found in the house, saving us trips into town and giving us more quality time together. Our trip to Holcombe was unforgettable and we hope to do it again next year.

We had a wonderful stay in Ann’s spacious home on the Flambeau River. Gentle currents carried us down and upstream in the included canoe and flat boat to the islands where we caught bass for fish tacos. A multitude of hummingbirds greeted us in the morning while we sipped coffee on the deck. In the evening great sunsets and evening stars framed the fire pit for a splendid end of day experience. Quiet, restful, spacious home with a fully stocked kitchen, gas fireplace, WI-Fi, cable TV and
a beautiful backdrop, we’d love to return.

WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME!!

  • 5 of 5
I want to say that if you have tried before to find a wonderful place to stay and haven't found it, you should take this one. It looks exactly like the pictures, only better. We had babies to old folks and everyone had a wonderful time. We sat on the dock, went fishing, sat in the sun, set up the little pool, played games in the loft and watched tv. When we walked into the place it was like a dream come true. Two families went together and we had plenty of room. Four of us went to look at it prior to going and spending the week. It was absolutely spotless, comfortable, had all the comforts of home right there. The only reason we left was to go and explore Lake Holcombe on the boat. We sat on the deck in the morning and watched the hummingbirds fight over the food. One day there were 7 of them vying for food. It was amazing.
We sat at the tikki bar outside, sat in the garage when we needed some extra shade, and basically enjoyed each other's company. It is something I will never forget. Ann had 4 bedrooms set up and also had air mattresses up in the large open loft at the top. It was really like being at home only on vacation. It was so wonderful to look out the doors with the river right there and the sunset shining so brightly. I can't say enough about this place. It's definitely a place I would recommend visiting. It's not that far from civilization but you don't have the grocery store right next door so bring your stuff-although Ann has extras there in case you run out.
We did spend some time at the silver bear which is also very close. A wonderful gift shop on Hwy 27 just outside of Lake Holcombe. Definitely worth the trip. This trip was so wonderful we are hoping to do it again next summer. It's a wonderful place to rent and have your family come and go if they can't spend the whole time. I was sad to leave. Ann was marvelous to work with and I couldn't have asked for anyone nicer to answer my 100 questions before we arrived during our stay. Take the plunge and go. You won't be sorry. I only wish we had stayed 2 weeks.

We arrived on Thursday afternoon and had a night to ourselves before my sister and husband as well as two of her grown children and spouses arrived. The house is so beautiful and the view of the river is amazing from the wrap around deck. The fresh air blowing through the open French doors is most relaxing.
The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. There were tubes and floaties for on the river, not to mention the canoe that my sister and husband took out while our whole group floated down the river. It was so relaxing just floating and talking with my niece and nephew and their spouses while our kids splashed water every now and then.
The back yard was very large as well. My daughter has been wanting to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels. We took advantage of the flat area up from the fire pit so she could try riding. She rode for the first time from one side of the yard to the other. She still needs a little more practice but we were glad she had the room to try.
The fire pit was great. We had quite a bit of wood for fires both Friday and Saturday night. Everybody had a great time talking and laughing until ver late into th night.
We were told the Silver Bear was a good gift shop nearby. That was just amazing what they had in there. My wife and I bought some painted signs and sweatshirts and some wind chimes that make the most beautiful music when the wind blows.
Thank you Ann for one of the most unforgettable get always we've had in a long time. We love your house.

My house is located on the peaceful area of the Flambeau River. My guests enjoy the quiet setting, the balcony overlooking the river where they can watch the eagles fish, the many different colored hummingbirds, and the indescribable sunsets. The river is shallow enough for kids to wander and play but still deep enough to take the canoe or tubes out. The fishing is great also or if you'd rather, the area has gift shops, art galleries, many restaurants and alot of music in the summer. It's a great place to find peace and/or entertainment ...I personally love the quiet mornings outside, local music on Sunday afternoons and a bonfire by the river at night.
