From Sumter, SC, we have been vacationing in the Western North Carolina mountains all our lives. And though there are many beautiful areas, we always came back to Maggie Valley.
Once we decided the time had come to invest in ourselves, it was just a matter of finding the right spot. I'll never forget the day our Realtor fax'd me this 'new' listing - I knew this was 'us' the minute I saw it and even went so far as to tell a co-worker this was going to be our new home. Ironically, Steve said the same thing that evening when he looked it over. Small, but perfect. High enough to have spectacular views, but easy access. Right in the middle of everything we and our guests may want to do - apple orchards and Biltmore House, skiing, zip lines, hiking, and tubing, Harrahs and Ghost Town - you can be as busy or lazy as you need to be!! As for us, our favorite thing to do is get here, park the car or bike, and unwind. Whether that's around a campfire, the hammock, or in the hot tub, I don't care if we ever leave! Our hope is that you will find what you're looking for here too!
We have it all! Convenient to all the points of interest, yet secluded and quiet. You will love the sight of red crested wood peckers, the sound of owls, and groups of wild turkeys that enjoy wondering through. That first cup of coffee on the east side of the deck, watching as the sun comes up across the Blue Ridge Parkway, its shadows casting the most amazing colors across the blanket of trees that is Water Rock Knob. Or that special toddy, with that special someone on the west side of the deck, listening to your favorite music and watching the sun set across the deepest dips and valleys as you allow the hot tub jets to relax your muscles. Or, maybe if your really lucky, it will snow its giant, wonderful, powdery flakes, and you can help your granddaughters make their first snow angel or take their first sled ride down the driveway! It really does not get much better then this!
