Recently retired, we (Peter and Kathleen Dawson) came to Sonoma so we could be close to family, especially our two grandchildren. We wish to be involved with their lives and activities while they grow up. We have many family and friends in the Bay Area. We are respectively a retired music teacher and school psychologist. We live an active lifestyle including running, biking, and Zumba.
Carlos J. Barreda & Jenna A. Kennedy purchased this house in 2011
We (Peter and Kathleen Dawson) chose to buy a home in Sonoma because of its location, beauty and closeness to family and friends. We did not initially consider renting it while we returned to rural New York State during the summer months where the rest of our family and friends are (and our original home). Then we started thinking that maybe we should share such a nice place with others while we are not here. Then local friends who are experienced Innkeepers and currently run WineINN and DineINN Tour/Shuttle approached us and offered to manage the home as a vacation rental while we are gone. Knowing our guests would be in good hands prompted us to offer our home for the 6 months when we are not here.
What a convenient location. 45 minute drive to San Francisco, 15 minute drive to famous Sears Point formerly (Infineon), now Sonoma Raceway (NASCAR, NHRA, AMA etc.). Within a 5 minute walk from our house, there are grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, at least 15 restaurants, a movie theater, various stores, a large regional park, a smaller park, 2 minutes from the bike/running/walking path that goes to the Sonoma Square (a 15 minute walk) with some of the best restaurants anywhere, with multiple wineries and wine tasting. Take a leisurely drive up and down Sonoma Valley and visit maybe a 100 wineries in the region (Napa Valley is 20 minutes away).
My husband and I stayed at Casa Verano with another couple to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. The house was just what we needed for a relaxing childless trip to wine country. The manager was very helpful during our stay including answering questions about the house to his favorite restaurants in the area. The house is conveniently located close to the grocery store and Starbucks but also a block from a great running and biking path. The only downfall of this location is in the early morning the traffic was a little loud while we were trying to sleep. The fully stocked kitchen allowed us to enjoy breakfast and used the gas grill to have dinners on the patio under the pergola. We drove and biked to local wineries as well as dined on the square and attended the Vintage Festival which included art fair, music and a 5K run.
We had a wonderful time and hope to return to this property sometime in the future.
This house was more than perfect for me and my group of friends. We attended a wedding just down the street, and truly enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the house is supplied with everything you could think of. Our favorite part was the outdoor patio, it has incredibly comfortable furniture set up under a trellis with a canopy of fresh grapes growing above you. Also, for being right near a busy street it is surprisingly quite and peaceful. Carlos is a great person, very sweet and very helpful. Thanks so much to all who made Casa Verano such a lovely place for us to stay!
Five of us journeyed to Sonoma to enjoy the wines and San Francisco. The house left nothing to be desired. We really enjoyed the backyard with its grape arbor and comfy seating as well as the kitchen/dining area. Beds were very comfortable and the house was immaculately clean.
Communication with the owner and his agent in Sonoma was excellent throughout the process. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to my friends.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Verano. The home is lovely and welcoming and well-appointed for guests. We loved the outdoor space and enjoyed riding the bikes on the bike path. Great location. Carlos was great to work with and he and Jenna made sure all of our questions were answered and that we had a terrific visit.
Casa Verano was a million times more than we expected. The pictures you see don't do it justice. Fully loaded, great kitchen, great back yard, close to town and sightseeing. Would definitely come back on the next Sonoma adventure!
