We are the Parent Family. We Custom built this cabin and spent our first weekend here in July 2002. We built it just for us! We have 5 kids ranging in age from 20 to 10. Because of our large family we have had a lot of conflicts in the Summer with sports and such.
Last summer we decided to TRY this renting thing and ended up renting the cabin to a family for a week when we weren't able to be there ourselves.
It went Great. This summer we hope to rent it out some of the the weeks we aren't going to be able to be there. Our Bay Lake Cabin is our second home. We love spending time here! It is NOT your average 'rental property'.
Wendy Parent purchased this cabin in 2002
When we were looking to build a cabin we knew that we didn't want to be too far from the cities. We didn't want to spend our weekend in the car. We also wanted to be able to invite friends up for the day and they could still drive home after a great day on the lake. After looking at many lakes in the area we zoned right in on BAY LAKE because of everything it has to offer. It has Ruttgers resort. gas for boats and jet ski's, and many, many beautiful cabins are situated on the lake.
Because the lake is made up of Bays there are always places on the lake that are perfectly calm even on the windiest of days. Bay lake is the perfect balance of quiet and relaxation and yet you can find action if you want to. We fell in love with the sandbar. There is a volleyball net set up here all summer long in about a foot of water. It is so much fun to boat over and play a little Volleyball.
There is a large Eagles nest just down the shoreline from our cabin we love to boat on by and see the Eagle sitting in her nest.
Bay Lake is also home to the Famous Ruttgers Resort. A great place to visit for Dinner (they have three restaurants), Golf, Gourmet Coffee, ice cream or Shopping. If you want you can schedule a pedicure or massage at their full service Spa.
We love to boat on over and stop by for an Ice Cream cone.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at this cabin. The property was very clean and well maintained. We had six adults in our party and the cabin was large enough for us to gather as a group, and to also have some privacy. Loved sitting by the lake in the morning with my coffee, cruising around the bays on the beautiful pontoon, enjoying meals at the various restaurants on the lake, and relaxing by the fire in the evening while listening to the loons. The owners were very easy to reach, and were always happy to answer any questions.
This property is a modern and well kept house. It has very comfortable amenities with a large kitchen for family and group meals. The backyard lakefront area is perfect with easy lake access, comfortable seating and campfire area. The owners are very easy to communicate with and quickly respond to any issue or concern. I would very much recommend this property if you are visiting the Bay Lake area
The house is beautiful with a lot of amenities. The Parents were very accommodating and friendly. We loved the grassy area by the lake. The view is amazing and the sound of the Loons is always very peaceful at night. It is a beautiful location! We rented a pontoon from a local place and enjoyed that very much! A perfect place for families to have a lot of fun!
Our family rented this home on Bay Lake in the summer of 2012, and I can't say enough good things about it. Our groups consisted of four adults and two little kids, and everyone had a great time.
First, the home is stunning and spacious, a log cabin-inspired design with all the modern amenities you would need, including a large eat-in kitchen, master suite with bathroom, cable, internet, air conditioning, etc. And the grounds are perfectly maintained, including a very large lawn by the lake that is perfect for kids and yard games. Second, the location on beautiful Bay Lake is only a two-hour drive from the Twin Cities, close to grocery stores, and a half-mile from a cozy restaurant. Finally, the owners--a wonderful family that built the place about ten years ago as a family cabin--are very accommodating and a easy to work with. Our family has rented a number of places in MN and WI through VRBO over the past few years, and this was perhaps our favorite place. Not a single complaint!
This was a great vacation from start to finish! The owners were very accommodating and had everything in order before hand. Then when we got to the cabin it was AMAZING!! All 10 of us had good night sleeps and spent the day floating on the lake! When we weren't on the lake we were in the beautiful kitchen. The kayak and paddle boat were the best as the kids spent every waking moment either on them or fishing from the dock. The only drawback (and let me tell you it would NOT stop me from renting again) was the weeds in the water. But the grown-ups ended up dealing with that by laying on a floaty and the kids didn't seem to mind them. All in all I'd have to say, if you get the chance rent this place. You won't be disappointed.
