There is so much to do in scottsdale and kierland is conviniently located for easy access to many attractions. here are some of my favorites:
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West: Tucked into the foothills of Scottsdale’s McDowell Mountains, Taliesin West showcases the talents of legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright with elegant structures ingeniously crafted out of indigenous desert materials.
Musical Instrument Museum: Explore the cultures of the world through the instruments they play at this expansive new museum. It’s both high-tech and high-touch with wireless headset technology to tour the exhibits and an experience room where you can try your hand at dozens of instruments.
Cosanti: Italian architect Paolo Soleri is world-renowned for his melodious bronze windbells, which are made right here at Cosanti. Be sure to call ahead for bronze pouring times so you can witness the creative process in action.
Desert Botanical Garden: Five thematic trails introduce you to thousands of arid-land plants from around the world. The Garden also hosts several must-see events throughout the year, including Las Noches de las Luminarias, Music in the Garden Concert Series and seasonal butterfly exhibits.
Heard Museum: The Heard’s award-winning collections explore the Native American cultures of the Southwest. Frequent art and cultural demonstrations and annual events like the Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market give you the opportunity to meet and talk with Native artists from various tribes.
McDowell Sonoran Preserve: When complete, this urban preserve will be the largest of its kind in the nation. The Preserve’s Gateway trailhead is a great introduction to the Sonoran Desert ecosystem and offers access to several of the Preserve’s 63+ miles of trails, including the interpretive Bajada Nature Trail.
Pueblo Grande Museum & Archaeological Park: The museum is centered on the ruins of a 1,500-year-old Hohokam Indian village. Exhibits explore the culture’s agrarian lifestyle, art and innovative canal system.
Rawhide Western Town: Arizona’s largest Western-theme attraction offers an acclaimed steakhouse and Belle’s Saloon as well as live-action stunt shows, trick riding by Texas Kate, stagecoach and train rides, and much more.

I own one vacation home in kierland and i manage a small selection of vacation homes in Arizona for family[ including sedona and prescott] .I love people and am always happy to assist with information about the best places to go and the best value adventures.I can arrange most activities and can provide extra services such as child sitting, chef services for special occasions , cleaning services- by request.
My family has been vacationing in arizona for 15 years. We fell in love with the stunning desert terrain, the outdoor life, many opportunities for sports, swimming, dining, hiking and shopping. We especially love the sunshine in this beautiful Grand canyon State. Kierland is a fabulous area and highly sought after for its vibrant , lively , exciting neighborhood.
shopping, movies, dining, sports are all within walking distance in this neighborhood and that is what i love most.
We loved the apartment , furnishings and the facilities. Just like a resort hotel. Powerful jets in jacuzzi dissolved all stresses. Tennis and gym are fab here, too.Would definately return.
The duration of our stay was three weeks. The unit was reasonably close to Kierland Commons for shopping and restaurants. The unit itself was somewhat dated. The ice maker was not working when we moved in and was never repaired during our three week stay, although mentioned several times. As well, the clothes dryer was not working properly and the clothes had to be hung up around the unit to air dry. Unit was not supplied with a hairdryer so we called and one was delivered to us which didn't work. So we went and purchased one and we took it home. The most unfortunate surprise was that $168.00 was taken from our security deposit for merchant charge card fees. When we signed the rental agreement it stated that we would be responsible for transaction fees applicable to payment by Visa. (We have never encountered being responsible for merchant fees in the past). It did not specify that we would be paying for merchant fees particularly of that amount. When we contacted the booking manager, Smiling Sun and suggested that we split the amount, she suggested that we send $4,550 directly to her bank account so that she could reverse the charge and fees. Although a trusting person, we had reservations about sending $4,550 directly to someone's bank account in order to recover $168.00. After numerous emails the booking manager is not willing to compromise even in a small way. In conclusion, we are very disappointed and will never use "Smiling Sun" again nor recommend them to any of our friends who frequent Scottsdale. Smiling Sun obviously is not interested in repeat business.
I arrived for a seminar at the westin resort. Feeling that I wanted more privacy I booked this private condo instead of paying $80 more for a room at the westin. I loved being able to have 2 bedrooms for the price of one. After arriving I decided to chill out by the pool. The hot tube was great and very warm. The decor of the condo was fresh and cool. Everything needed was provided. Kierland shopping center and resteraunts was just a 10 min walk. There was a choice of at least 20 resteraunts to choose from each night. Highly reccomended for those wanting to try something a little different than the resort next door!
My husband and I stayed at this condo for four nights in April.
Likes: location, walking distance to Kierland commons, great pool at the condo, close to golf, restaurants, grocery store
Property: Condo is dated but fairly well mantained. It is clean but not spotless.
Dislikes: We had a very bad experience post checkout. As requested, when we left the condo I sent an e-mail confirming that we had departed. I got an e-mail from Rachel on the day of departure saying she hoped we enjoyed our stay. Three weeks after our departure, I followed up to inquire when we would receive our deposit. The Manager, Rachael, sent back a short note stating that we had damaged the carpet and would not be receiving our deposit. That note was problematic for a number of reasons. Firstly, we had not damaged the unit in any way. Secondly, there was no proactive communication from the Manager informing us that they would not return the deposit. Thridly, I was responsible for the follow up. There was some back and forth which was a waste of time. The manager was unable to provide proof of the damage. This experience left us feeling we had been cheated and I am posting a review so other renters have more information to review other than the "comments posted by manager".
the property lived up to our expectations...very clean and well maintained.....the decor was quite beautiful....beds were very comfortable...a short distance to amenities, restaurants and shopping....all in all a very pleasant experience....the photos very accurately reflected the property...rachel was a joy to work with and i would absolutely recommend the property to my friends and relatives....there is an organic restaurant with fresh local foods nearby called "true food"....that i highly recommend....we also especially enjoyed soleri's cosanti foundation...and taliesen west, frank loyd wright's studio...'great time..!!
