Peggy and Dan are empty nesters that have grown weary of the surf crowds and congested freeways of San Diego! We fell in love with Mammoth Lakes when close friends nodded and prodded us to ski with them at Mammoth Mountain. What a gem of a Mountain! We are now seriously addicted! We are also avid hikers and look forward to learning how to fly fish. We yearn for our retirement years so that we can live part-time in Mammoth. Until then, “Mi Casa es su casa”. We hope you enjoy your stay and welcome your comments and suggestions to help make your future visits even better.

BEAUTIFUL RETREAT

  • 5 of 5
During our stay at Mammoth, there were unusually low temps and the mountain was closed on Saturday for high winds. But luckily, we were staying here! We didn't mind hanging out in this fabulous, well appointed, spacious condo surrounded by a view of nothing but snowy meadow and trees from every single window. The kids played in the snow right outside our door. We loved the heated garage as that meant we could leave our ski boots in the car rather than lugging them inside. This place was our favorite at Mammoth so far. We took a short walk down the road through the golf course and woods.

GREAT CHOICE FOR MY FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I loved staying at this property. We had our 13 year old son with us and he was totally happy with the second bedroom layout. We brought his PS3 and plugged it into his TV and he was a happy camper the whole trip. The property is a nice quiet end unit with awesome views of the forest and golf course throughout most of the unit. I have stayed in many rental properties in Mammoth and it was refreshing to stay in a newer unit with new amenities. The unit has it's own washer and dryer which comes in handy during the summer months. The owners have done a great job decorating this unit and we enjoyed watching a movie every night on the large flat screen TV in the living room. I read the other reviews prior to our stay and I was concerned about the hot water. We get pretty dusty during the day with mountain biking and hiking and I was concerned about the lack of hot water. But I am pleased to tell everyone that we never experienced any troubles with hot water. Our showers were always hot. I was pleased to read the owner's comments that they plan to remove the foam topper from the master bed. I'm 6' 2" tall and I struggled to get in bed without clobbering my wife. We laughed every night as we climbed into bed. A new mattress minus the topper is a great idea. While we were there, everything worked great. I thought the owners did a great job outlining everything prior to our visit. The unit was very clean, cozy and comfortable during out visit and I highly recommend this unit to other families like mine. We love mountain biking and hiking and Mammoth never disappoints. My wife and I rented kayaks at Lake Mary one day and this was very enjoyable for both of us. The only bummer while we were in Mammoth was that there was a wildfire about 25 miles away that made things very smoky. But no one can control Mother Nature and we didn't let the smoke ruin our visit. Overall, our trip was very relaxing with plenty of adventure and lots of good eating. If you want to try something new, I highly recommend a restaurant in June Lake called the "Eagle's Landing" at the Double Eagle Resort in June Lake. This spa/resort has awesome views and the food was excellent. If all goes well, we hope to stay at Solstice 25 again next summer.

Owner's Response: Thanks much for the review of your stay at Solstice 25. We are always trying to improve the condo not only for ourselves but also our guests. Your comment on the bed made us laugh as we completely get it, that thing is way to high! I've never fallen out of it but I do worry about it since it is a long way to the floor. Getting that replaced as soon as possible is a priority for us so that no one will feel the need for a ladder to get into it and a parachute to get out! Thanks again for you kind words!!

GOOD LOCATION SUMMER. MUST LIKE STAIRS AND REMOTE PARKING

  • 4 of 5
I did not book thru VRBO. This is a nicely appointed accommodation, but we experienced a few issues that would prevent us from choosing to stay there again.
Water heater: hot water was nonexistent in the master shower on the first day after our arrival. After 10-15 minutes, we were able to take a warm, but not hot shower in the second bathroom. A property manager did promptly send a maintenance person to attend to the issue. He explained that the boilers for the unit were on the entire other end of the property in the garage, and that this unit was the "furthest away". Likely true, but the kitchen faucet hot water seemed fine, just not the master bath.
So the showering experience was just ok.
The master bed had a 4" memory foam topper on top of the queen bed. Nice except that the queen bed was in a bed frame quite high off the carpet to begin with. It was challenging for the two of us ( 5'6" tall) to get in and out of bed without climbing on anything.
Access to condo: Although the property management told us(we had a wheelchair person) that the entrance was "completely flat"; we found that there was no handicap parking even remotely close and there were 17 steps down to the level entrance. A major disappointment and aggravation to access the condo easily. Quite frustrating to get bad information on an issue of such importance as mobility.
Parking: We drive a Sprinter. Which is 9'7" tall. Really nowhere practical to park it. The underground parking garage is on the opposite end of the 16+ condos (200'+ feet)
Overall comment: good location in summer for festivals. pet friendly is a plus. Condo was clean, modern amenities, comfortable living room couches.
17 stairs down to the unit and parking are a minus.

Owner's Response: We wanted to thank you for your review. The reviews we get help us to improve our place and the experience that our guests have while staying there. Indeed, our place has 17 steps to navigate down to the unit so it really is not a good place for anyone with physical disabilities. The VRBO website overview does indicate that this is not a wheelchair accessible unit but our management company site did not mention that but the email information packet did. This information confusion has been addressed so this problem has been corrected. We have had several instance of problems with the hot water although we have never experienced any ourselves. We will definitely check this out to alleviate future problems. With regards to the master bedroom bed, yep, that thing is high! We added the topper as the original mattress was very hard. The topper solved the comfort issue but yikes its pretty high now. That will be rectified early this fall when we install a new, much more comfortable and lower mattress! Regarding the parking issues and disabled parking. Because this is not a commercial facility disabled parking is not required so there is not much we can do about that. Regarding the parking garage, in most cases underground parking can be pretty tight with regards to height this one is no different with a little over 7 feet of clearance at the entrance. We will update the information on VRBO to make that clear. Also the garage does extend under 3 of the 4 buildings at Solstice with parking for our unit the furthest back in the garage so the walk to our unit is not quite that bad (this is why we suggest unloading on the street in front of our building and then parking). Again, thank you for your review.

WONDERFUL, BRAND NEW CONDO WITH ALL THE AMENITIES YOU NEED FOR A QUIET STAY IN THE MOUNTAINS.

  • 5 of 5
We stayed her with our daughters (1 and 4) and our dog for 5 days of skiiing. The condo is spotless and perfectly appointed. The beds were comfy and we loved having humidifiers in each bedroom. The kitchen has everything you need, even a crockpot which was perfect for us to come home to ready-to-eat comfort meals after a day on the mountain. Having a washer and dryer right in the unit was also very convenient. The jacuzzi is at the far end of the building and we had it to ourselves both times we used it during the week.
As a previous reviewer mentioned, the condo entrance was a bit of a haul from the street - around a path and down 17 steps. The underground garage is at the far end of the complex, so we just parked on the street in front of the building. This is probably not an issue unless you are traveling with all the gear (kid, ski, dog) that we had. My husband got a workout. :) All in all, it was a comfy, clean, quiet place for vacation and I would definitely recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review! We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay, its hard to beat (you should see it during the summer, no snow perhaps but plenty of other great things to do and see). As you mentioned, it is a bit of a haul to get to our place but its worth it for the feeling of privacy that you get. One thing to keep in mind is that during very heavy snow falls, the parking in front of the condo may not be available. What we do is unload at the path to the condo then go and park the car in the garage. Our spaces are the furthest back in the garage putting you very close to the elevator. When you come up from the elevator you are at the end of building 3 which is then just a short walk to building 4 where our condo is located. Thanks again for the review and we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay!

A GREAT PLACE TO STAY

  • 4 of 5
The condo complex is conveniently located within a mile of Mammoth Village and yet is on a private road adjoining a golf course, so one feels that they are "off the beaten path." The unit was well appointed and clean, and we enjoyed our stay. One thing to be aware of is that the unit is in the rear of the condo complex and one must descend steps to access it. Not a problem for us, but could be a problem for someone with endurance/mobility issues. We would definitely return.

Owner's Response: Hi, thanks for your review. We will have instructions as to where to find the trash bins in our guest book as the trash bins are indeed hidden away (we had some trouble finding them ourselves when we purchased the condo). As for the cleaning...that should not have happened and we will ensure that it does not occur again. Thanks for your review, it really helps us make our condo a nicer place to stay!
