About The Owner
Our busy growing family has always enjoyed Cottage-on-the-Green as a restful gathering place after work, school, or a hard day of vacation.
Skiing and snowboarding day trips always ended in the hot tub to rest and rejuvenate sore muscles. Bicycle tours through Black Forest had to include an al fresco lunch grilled on our outdoor bistro at the end of the ride.
Jane Austin, Frances Hodgson Burnett and our other favorite authors seem just a little more enchanting when read secluded from the rest of the world in the midst of our own Secret Garden.
Your family and friends may enjoy, as ours have, the spontaneous X-Box championships (X-Box not included) with friends and family on the big screen, a stringed quartet around the fire pit outside (high school orchestral members not included), 4-Square mayhem in the 2-car garage (sidewalk chalk/balls included), or a 5K, 10K, or 20K run on the local paved and natural trails.
We enjoy our peace and tranquility and we enjoy a little life on the edge too. You can find it all here at Cottage-on-the-Green.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
Why The Owner chose Colorado Springs
We built Cottage-on-the-Green looking to find that perfect lifestyle blend of being close to town and all the activities but far enough away to enjoy bicycling country roads and lounging under quiet sunsets. We chose Antler Creek Golf Course because of its accessible location and beautifully maintained grounds.
You'll enjoy the convenience of being centrally located to all that Colorado has to offer. To the west you'll find the downtown area including the Fine Arts Center and the Colorado Springs Orchestra at the Pikes Peak Center, Sky Sox minor league baseball at Security Service field, rock climbing at Garden of the Gods, and of course the Air Force Academy.
Heading south will bring you to the spectacular productions at the World Arena, professional racing at Pikes Peak International Raceway, and up to class V rapids on the Arkansas River.
A quick drive to the north features the Renaissance Festival, Denver's Elitch Gardens amusement park or the world renowned Botanical Gardens, and you can pick your flavor of professional sports from the Broncos at Sports Authority Field, the Rockies at Coors Field, and both the Nuggets and the Avalanche at the Pepsi Center.
What makes this house unique
Our home was built in 2005 specifically to host large gatherings. We wanted to be the “hang out place” for our boys and their high school friends. So, not only did we build large rooms to fit lots of friends but we landscaped with even larger parties in mind: the weekend 'golf retreat”; The Big Game on the big screen; the New Year’s Eve hot tub party; 4th of July fireworks from the golf course clubhouse two blocks away (or avoid the crowds—we watch from the front lawn); the high school graduation party, the marriage rehearsal dinner, and a weekly young adults group from our church that met here over dinner for years. If you know people, and you need space, you’ll find it at Cottage-on-the-Green.
