The area of Tavronitis commands lovely views over the sea and cultivated farmland that stretches towards Kolimbari. Open vistas to the peninsulas of Rodopu to the west and Akrotiri to the east contain the sparkling Gulf of Chania. In Tavronitis town there are 3 mini marts, a patisserie, butcher, pharmacy and 2 tavernas that are open all year round. From Tavronitis it is a 4km drive to the port of Kolimbari, where the nearest ATM is located outside the supermarket MaxiDia. Here, there are several restaurants by the harbour which are noted for their fresh sea food. Slightly further is Kissamos where boat trips can be taken in season to Gramvusa and the beautiful blue lagoon.
The old Venetian port of Chania, with its colour washed facades, shops in narrow alleys and bustling pavement cafes and restaurants is a 25 minute drive away or local bus trip. Must also be seen at night. There are also WW2 areas of interest nearby as Tavronitis featured in the Battle of Crete.
