As the title says, this was our 2nd visit to the property (August/Sept 2014). We stayed here in 2011.
It was just as we left it and the setting is beautiful. Can't recommend it enough for a relaxing break in Florida.
This trip we drove to Key West and stayed one night at the Southernmost Hotel which we can recommend.
We went on 2 fishing trips this holiday, back bay and deep sea fishing. We booked at Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda.
House is lovely and would be fantastic for a large family vacation. There are lots of extras ie chairs, cool box, fishing gear that you can use. We also used the wifi this trip too.
Excellent holiday home and it was a thought to come home!
Nine adult family members gathered here from all over the East Coast. We were so please on arrival to find the house even more spectacular than the photos showed! Very clean, open concept with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook in while there. We spent many hours outside around the pool and on the screened in patio. Eating many meals out there too! The guys fished often and the gals sat back watching them, reading our books, relaxing to the peaceful surroundings!
The bedrooms are all spacious and nicely furnished. As well as the bathrooms too. There is plenty of room inside and out with so many adults staying there.
We all agreed should we return to Punta Gorda again we would definitely get in touch with Keith and Jeanette for availability to stay here again!
An absolute gem of a property in Punta Gorda, Florida.
We were impressed by the pictures, but they really do not do it justice in terms of the space and impressive facilities on offer at this house! The layout was perfect for our family party of 8 adults - loads of room to relax and enjoy the peace & tranquillity that this area provides. The men were making good use of the dock for fishing and it was surprising the amount of different species they caught - especially a big redfish (or red drum as it seems to be locally known) which was nearly 2ft long!.
Each bedroom either has an en suite or bathroom next door so we all had a bathroom each which was great. Our family are seasoned travellers to the US & especially Florida and we all agreed that this was one of the best houses we had ever rented. Everything is well catered for - we stayed over Christmas & made use of the excellent kitchen facilities & enjoyed probably the best Christmas all of us had had in years - oven was good, plenty of plates, cutlery, cups etc & most importantly ..the dishwasher! Winn Dixie Supermarket is approx 3 miles up the road and has everything you could wish for, whether you are looking to cook most days or just need snacks etc - there is also a convenience store a mile or so from the property if you just need the odd thing.
When we arrived, the property had been thoroughly cleaned and the beds very nicely made - the property was very welcoming.
The owners obviously adore this house and the house feels as if it cherished which in turn provides a homely atmosphere to relax in. Jeanette provides exceptional correspondence and always responded quickly with answers to any questions we asked of her - they really were a pleasure to deal with.
Local restaurants were good - we spent a fantastic evening at the Royal Thai which isn't that far from the house - best place for a Thai meal outside of Thailand in our opinion - really good service and recommended. We also went to Fisherman's Village and dines at Harpoon Harry's which we also enjoyed.
Overall, it was a very memorable holiday and I would thoroughly recommend staying at this house - Thank you Keith & Jeanette!
Our family rented this fabulous home March 19-26 2011. Our entire stay was wonderful right from the very start. Every vacationer's necessities, (including adult beverages) were left for us, & everything was incredibly clean both inside & outside of the home.
During our vacation we visited the beautiful beaches of Boca Grande, we enjoyed an alligator air boat ride out of Miami, the same day we took a car ride through architecturally scenic Miami, we ventured to the zoo one day, on another we visited Rick Treworgy's Muscle Car City Car Museum & we went on a sunrise cruise out of Fishermen's Village, which was a lot of fun even though mother nature didn't allow us to witness the sunset we'd hoped for. Our nights outside of the house were kept busy by going to Harpoon Harry's in Fishermen's Village as well as Corky's Rock & Roll Bar & Grill right up the road in Port Charlotte.
As for our time spent in the home, we saw an armadillo waddling it's way through the beautifully maintained gardens. Also daily we had an alligator which we named "Creepers" that would come to the edge of the rock bank for a daily hello, of sorts. My husband enjoyed fishing every time he found a spare moment w the fishing equipment that was left in the home for visitor's use. We enjoyed one whole day of relaxing in the home, just relaxing & tanning. The pool was amazing & private even w neighbors not far away. We didn't feel as though we had to keep quiet the entire time & we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!
Financially speaking, the home ended up being more affordable to share between a group 4 than renting a hotel would have been. & the obvious convenience of being in a home versus a hotel doesn't even compare! We were able to get into a cool car, which we kept in the garage overnight. Our daily view was that of a scenic creek, beautiful gardens & a private pool instead of a parking lot & public pool. We stocked the fridge & freezer our first day, so we felt right at home.
We weren't able to get the radio to work so we could listen to music while in the pool & the internet only worked for first 2 days of our stay. The homeowners returned our call the same day when we inquired about the internet password on our first day, so I'm sure they'd have tried remedying it if we'd called. But truth be told, neither was a big inconvenience w my husband having an internet accessible phone.
We're currently trying to figure out when we could plan our next trip to this wonderful home!
My husband and I stayed in this villa 7-21 May 2011. We've been to Florida many times and many places but this is undoubtedly the nicest and most luxurious of the villas we've stayed in. The settling is beautiful and peaceful too. The house has everything you need and the rooms are exactly as the pictures. The pools is heated and makes use more enjoyable. I actually used the pool nearly every day, and I have never done this before.
The fishing is excellent at the house and my husband spent many hours out there enjoying catching all the different kinds of fish, and yes, shrimp was the best bait! Having the use of the owners fishing tackle, cool box, chairs and towels to take to the beach were an added bonus.
As I said the house was perfect and we really didn't want to come home. It's a great place for to stay and would totally recommend anyone to spend some time in this villa.
We stayed at the villa for 7 nights from 6th April 2011 to 13th April 2011, we had an amazing time during our stay, the accommodation was very comfortable and the views outside were incredible, we went to Sanibel Island, Pine Island and Boca Grande all were lovely places to visit. We found it helpful to have a phone number of a neighbour, for any questions we had. I would love to return again soon. The Baker's from Essex U.K.
