Blairsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Less than 3 miles from the cabin, there is a new Canoe and Kayak launch into the Nottely River where you can paddle to Lake Nottely or just enjoy fishing in the river. Built by the TVA and Union County, this is the perfect place to begin your trip down the river!

Poplar Ridge Retreat is a lovely 3BR, 2 BA mountain cabin. Just 10 minutes from town, this cedar-sided ranch is centrally located and perfect for your trip to the mountains. Whether it is to hike the Appalachian Trail, visit relatives or take in any of the many area attractions, this is the place to start from.

Bring your family, children, and pups and enjoy the quiet of the mountains and the solitude you will feel when sitting on our popular screened-in porch. The only thing that interrupts the quiet is the songs of the many species of birds on the property.

Poplar Ridge Retreat offers easy access to all of North Georgia’s waterfalls, beautiful scenery, trout streams, Lake Nottely and mountain hiking trails, which includes sections of the Appalachian Trail. It is close to nearby Wine Vineyards and all area attractions. Golfing is available at the nearby Butternut Creek Golf Course where the scenery is so amazing you'll find it hard to concentrate on your game.

It sits on 1.4 acre of beautiful wooded property which is away from it all, yet near enough to not be isolated. It has a large fenced pasture and easy 3-step access. The 3 bedrooms are furnished with a Queen, Full and two Twin beds. The Queen has a memory foam topped mattress for added comfort. The renovated bathroom has a tub and shower and the Master Bath has a step-in shower.

There are many outside areas to lounge including a lovely screened porch where you can enjoy your favorite book or beverage. There is also a large deck with seating and an Infra-Red gas grill ready for cookouts (propane provided). Additional outside areas with seating are found on the property.

Approximately 1 acre of the property is securely fenced with pasture fence which is lined with wire fencing inside so children and pets can romp in safety. There is a large doggie door provided so you don’t even have to get up from the recliner to let Fido (or Fifi) in and out. Carport and additional parking available.

The living room has hardwood floors and a comfy leather sofa, a 40” flat screen TV, a wood-burning fireplace (firewood and starters provided) and sliding French doors to the screened porch. The dining room and kitchen have ceramic tile; there is new carpeting in all 3 bedrooms which is professionally cleaned monthly. We receive great reviews for our cleanliness. Cable TV, DVR, WI-FI connection and excellent cell phone service is provided for those who want to keep in touch.

The renovated kitchen features cherry cabinets and new appliances, solid surface Corian countertops with stainless steel undermount double sink. A Keurig single-serve coffee maker is provided, as well as the k-cups, Mini-Moo 's and sugars (de-caf and regular)

For your comfort there is central heat and air conditioning and every room has ceiling fans. A washer, dryer and clothesline is available. There are board games, puzzles, dvd’s and books to fill your leisure time. These can be found in the bottom of the television cabinet.

Poplar Ridge Retreat is located approximately 5 miles from the city of Blairsville It is just minutes from Union County’s famous Meeks Park which features miles of walking trails both paved and gravel, children’s play area, swimming pool, skateboard park, and basketball and tennis courts. It features a separate huge doggie walk park. If you just want to pack a basket and enjoy the park there are many picnic tables alongside the rambling Butternut Creek.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pots and pans, utensils, glassware and everything you need but the food. Pets are welcome with prior approval and a pet fee. For the very small children we have provided a high chair, folding Pack & Play, and stroller so you won't have to pack that large baby equipment.

We are sure you will enjoy your visit with us at Poplar Ridge Retreat.

About The Owner

I am retired after working seven years for the Union County Commissioner as his executive assistant. Now that I have free time, I enjoy gardening, volunteering, reading and playing with my wonderful Brittany, Cookie.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1996

Why The Owner chose Blairsville

I fell in love with the North Georgia Mountains when I started visiting friends there in 1995. I purchased my home and lived there, making many life-long friends, and recently relocated to live with my daughter. We visit the area frequently, as it has always been a quiet and relaxing get-away to recharge our batteries.

What makes this cabin unique

When we are in the mountains, we love nothing better than reading a book on the screened porch, listening to the birds and watching for the deer to make their evening stroll to the springs on the property. We also love to hike on the many nearby trails, and golf at the beautiful Butternut Creek Golf Course. Boating on Lake Nottley is always a great way to cool down on a hot summer day. And watching the leaves turn in the fall is a breathtaking display. It's so quiet you can actually hear the leaves fall. The occasional snowfall while having a fire crackling in the fireplace also creates great memories for us.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The following is from our Guest Book.

"Thank you so much for allowing folks to rent your little cabin. We have really enjoyed our stay at Poplar Ridge Retreat.

You have done a wonderful and beautiful job with the yard, such beautiful landscaping and plants everywhere. We can tell you really enjoy gardening.

Thanks again so much for allowing us to stay and we hope to see you again soon!!

PS. We gobbled up the M&M's and will take the doggie treats home to Miss Daisy. Thx.

Great Cozy Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We brought a group of 6 to the cabin and everyone had a blast. We enjoyed the fireplace, grill, and playing cards at the dining room table. Max, our dog, loved running out in the front yard and using the doggie door to let himself out as he wished. The cabin has very comfortable mattresses and a beautiful kitchen with all the appliances and accessories needed to whip up a great meal! Also, the cabin is located near anything. We were able to run up to the dollar store or run into Blairsville if we needed anything. It was great! We also really enjoyed going to the Bearding Bottle Shop, which is a craft beer store where you can also sample beer (and root beer for the kiddos). We will definitely be back!

Excellent Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage was so comfy and cozy, just perfect for myself and my dog pals. We all loved the big fenced yard. The house was immaculate; very comfortable and homey. This is not a log cabin. You feel like you are staying in someone's main home while they are away (which is pretty much true, I guess). The fireplace was wonderful. Best thing, wood was supplied, bird seed is provided for the feeders. Very convenient to town and many sights. I would move in in a second if I could!

Great Decision for Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

It said a lot to me that an owner would donate their vacation home for a fund raising event, so I entrusted it would be a great place for our family to spend time together after many months of hectic schedules. Upon arriving we immediately took a deep breath and just wound down. The weather was perfect, the home was perfect, and everything we wanted to do was within an hour or two and easily driven to. We are hikers, so many of our days were spent exploring the Smokey Mountain Trails, State Parks, Wine Vineyards, etc. The Farmers Market was icing on the cake! We spent each night planning for the next days events, woke up and prepared our meals for the day in a very well equipped kitchen. By the time night rolled around, we were exhausted and enjoyed sitting out on the screen porch chatting and eating popcorn and peanuts. The large front yard was awesome for our dogs to run, roam, and chase tennis balls (which were in the welcome bag for us when we arrived!). I really hated leaving and getting back to my 'real' world because we had so much fun. I would recommend this vacation spot for anyone wanting to be on the outskirts of the hustle and bustle of a lot of vacationers, yet close enough to get to your 'fun' place in short time. We are a family of six adults and were all very comfortable in the home, with room to spare.

Poplar Ridge Retreat

If you have dogs and want to go on vacation with them, this is absolutely the perfect place. In addition, the house is very cozy and comfortable and there are many things to do in the area so that even if it is a bit rainy (as it was on our trip) you would have to work very hard to be bored. If you play golf, check out Butternut Creek Golf Course... very challenging, but lots of fun. Elizabeth does a great job of communicating!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we drove up to the house, we felt like we were "home." We live in southeast GA, and escape the heat in the mountains at least once a year. We always rent a pet-friendly home. This is the most homey and well-equipped house in which we have ever stayed. Everything was spotlessly clean. Plenty of dishes and cooking utensils, towels & washcloths, blankets (yes, in July!), comfy furniture, etc. The Keurig coffees were a special treet. There was a "welcome tote," and plenty of recommendations for restaurants and things to see & do. The home had easy access to the Blue Ridge Pkwy, yet is down a paved low traffic road. There is a huge front, fenced, mowed grass yard that was a real vacation for our standard poodle. If you are older (as we are) there are no stairs in the house, but there is a bit of a hill down to the front yard, if you choose to go there. As most others said, our favorite spot was the screened porch. The owner is so nice. Very easy to reach and helpful. We were scheduled for a 7 day stay & extended for an extra day. We would have stayed longer, but had to vacate for the next lucky family! You won't be disappointed.
