This historic seasonal home area is surrounded by protected conservation land where there are excellent walks, birdwatching, boating, kayaking and bicycling opportunities. The cottage is perched on the shore of the lake. One approaches the front door descending through a woodland garden. On the right is the Napshack with its writer's desk looking out over the lake and a sleeping porch. One enters the cottage in the main living/dining and kitchen area colorfully decorated with the owner's bright fabrics, art and a red refrigerator! The master bedroom has French doors opening onto a screen porch with spectacular views of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains. It's hard to get up in the morning with a view like that! On the lake side of the cottage are the new picnic table, gas grill and several sitting areas. After a short walk down to the lake, one finds a deck with chairs and a table and the dock from which one can dive right into the beautiful clear water of Lake Champlain. Beach chairs, noodles and a kayak are stored nearby. If you can tear yourself away from the cottage, there is plenty to do nearby. Across the road is a tennis court and a shuffleboard court. About one mile away is Mt Philo, a state park. From the top there are spectacular views of the Champlain Valley. If more strenuous hiking is desired you can head to the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. The bicycling in the Champlain Valley is excellent. Nearby is the Old Brick Store, a Charlotte landmark, where you can find excellent provisions including delicious pizzas, snacks, essentials and good wines and beers. There are numerous high quality restaurants in the area. Just down the road is the Shelburne Museum and the National Landmark, Shelburne Farms. The vibrant city of Burlington is just ten miles away.
