BEAUTIFUL COZY COTTAGE ON LAKE CHAMPLAIN

Charlotte Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

I AM SORRY BUT THIS COTTAGE IS TOTALLY BOOKED FOR 2014. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN 2015. This cozy cottage is located on Thompsons Point in Charlotte on beautiful Lake Champlain. This historic seasonal home area is surrounded by protected conservation land where there are excellent walks, birdwatching, boating, kayaking and bicycling opportunities. The cottage is perched on the shore of the lake. One approaches the front door descending through a woodland garden. On the right is the Napshack with its writer's desk looking out over the lake and a sleeping porch. One enters the cottage in the main living/dining and kitchen area colorfully decorated with the owner's bright fabrics, art and a red refrigerator! The master bedroom has French doors opening onto a screen porch with spectacular views of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains. It's hard to get up in the morning with a view like that! On the lake side of the cottage are the new picnic table, gas grill and several sitting areas. After a short walk down to the lake, one finds a deck with chairs and a table and the dock from which one can dive right into the beautiful clear water of Lake Champlain. Beach chairs, noodles and a kayak are stored nearby. If you can tear yourself away from the cottage, there is plenty to do nearby. Across the road is a tennis court and a shuffleboard court. About one mile away is Mt Philo, a state park. From the top there are spectacular views of the Champlain Valley. If more strenuous hiking is desired you can head to the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. The bicycling in the Champlain Valley is excellent. Nearby is the Old Brick Store, a Charlotte landmark, where you can find excellent provisions including delicious pizzas, snacks, essentials and good wines and beers. There are numerous high quality restaurants in the area. Just down the road is the Shelburne Museum and the National Landmark, Shelburne Farms. The vibrant city of Burlington is just ten miles away.

Keywords: This seasonal cottage is nestled on the shores of Lake Champlain. It has two bedrooms, a screen porch, a living/dining/kitchen area with one bath. There is an outbuilding with a sleeping porch and small writing room. On the lake there is a dock and deck. A kayak is available for use.

I was attracted to this rental as a result of the description and the photos. Both did not truly reflect the charm and character this camp exuded. The owner took the original camp and modernized it with an artistic, European flair, yet maintaining the uniqueness of the camps of Thompson Point. All the amenities were provided. We could not have asked for more. The property was perfectly maintained both inside and out. The views of the sunsets were breathtaking. One could either sit on the dock, deck, screened-in porch or swing in the hammock and take in the sound of the lapping waves against the shore of Lake Champlain. The camp is in a very private, quiet setting yet close to many local activities and restaurants. The location is perfect for any kind of boating, walking, biking and hiking within a few miles. I would recommend this vacation rental to friends and family. We hope to return very soon.

The cottage was just what I had hoped for--cozy, comfortable and well appointed with gorgeous views of the lake and mountains beyond. The master bed was so comfortable that I had my best night's sleep in years. The fireplace took the chill off the early mornings, with a good supply of wood and even without an oven, my dinner guests and I enjoyed meals prepared on the range and the outdoor grill and eaten at the large inside dining table, the screened in porch and the outdoor picnic table. Sunsets are magnificent! The owner was helpful beforehand in answering questions and made sure that all was in good order for my arrival. The stone steps from the parking area to the cottage itself would be difficult to navigate for anyone with mobility issues but on all other counts, the cottage was more than I expected. I hope to return next year!

Owner's Response: I have had wonderful guests at my camp this year and appreciate their positive and thoughtful reviews. Just so future visitors know, the stone steps do have a railing and lighting along them. There is a steep drop from the road down to the water and I have endeavored to make this experience as easy and pleasant as possible with landscaping and beautiful stone work.
