The cottage is conveniently located very close to wonderful hiking, beach combing or just beach sitting in Ruckle Provincial Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the Southern Gulf Islands. It is a 486-hectare park with seven kilometres of shoreline, rocky headlands and tiny coves and bays, providing hours or even days of enjoyable exploration. In addition to its natural beauty, Ruckle Park is an area rich in cultural history and offers scenic pastoral views of the neighbouring farm. A mixture of forest, field and shore habitats makes it one of the most productive wildlife viewing areas on Salt Spring Island.
This is ideal for 1 person or a couple only.
Sorry no pets.
This property is so lovely. I had the pleasure of spending a weekend here with my best friend. The cabin is situated just up the street from Ruckle Park so is surrounded by gorgeous forest. The back patio gets late afternoon and evening sun which was perfect for our afternoon 'wine o'clock' and bbq dinners. The cottage itself is very clean and modern but still cozy, especially with the fire going. Highly recommend!
I had such a relaxing, wonderful stay at the Blue Anchor last year that I had to go back. This time I came back on my own. From the moment I got to the driveway I felt at home and the tremendous relaxation I felt last year returned to me right away. This has to be the only place on earth where I could just sit and watch the birds or the ferries go by in the distance without wondering what I should do next. The Blue Anchor is like a relaxation magnet... and thanks to Leslie and the wonderful place she has provided I have found my place to find serenity from my crazy life. I can't wait to get back there again!
My daughter and I were looking for a place to relax, paint, read, and explore and found the perfect place ‘Blue Anchor Cottage’ on Salt Spring Island - July 2013. It is difficult to explain the serenity and beauty of the natural setting and the comfortable, cozy ambience of the cottage. After one week of relaxing at the cottage (our new home away from home as everything we needed was provided) and exploring the island (buying delicious breads, tarts, coffee from nearby studios and veggies from roadside stands) we did not want to leave. Thank you Leslie for sharing your piece of paradise with us!
We stayed at the Blue Anchor toward the end of June and what an amazing place. I think it should be renamed to Serenity Anchor being that is was so serene. The cottage has absolutely everything one could need for a short stay. A very well equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, washer and dryer and a well designed interior with a very comfortable bed. The views were absolutely amazing. From the front patio, you see a beautiful pond that is lit at night along with a distant ocean view, which was a pleasant surprise. From the patio in the rear (yes, two separate patios), you have a forest view that gets more sunshine. We loved this place so much, it was hard to leave. We have stayed at other locations on Salt Springs, but this was far the nicest, especially for the price. The owner Leslie even checked up on us with an email to see if everything was going well for us during our stay. I would recommend staying here Wednesday thru Saturday because the bakery at the next door property has some excellent treats. We also enjoyed a few hikes at Ruckell Park, which is in walking distance of the cottage along with a few other hikes nearby. I could not think of a better place to stay!
We arrived late Saturday afternoon after taking in the market which is a must today, the fruit and veggies are amazing! The pictures do not do this cottage justice it is a perfect layout as no space is wasted and its spotless. The kitchen is well equipped and the electric BBQ is wonderful.
The weather was far from perfect however it did not affect our vacation time, we made ample use of the wood stove and the front and back decks allow one to take full advantage of the sun. The 20 hour trip was worth the effort and my spouse was amazed that I could plan something so well.
We would go back in a flash and would recommend this gem to our close friends and family.
Lesley was a wonderful host and gave us pointers on things to see and do.
We only stayed few days in weekend but we had a good time over there and great experience in salt spring island. The cottage was so clean and everything we needs was there. Place was so quiet and peaceful and a view from the deck was beautiful. We enjoyed staying over there it was perfect.
