Located on five peaceful acres, the property features a Japanese garden surrounding the pond and a meadow of exotic trees. This is a very special and unique retreat. Wake up to the sound of songbirds feeding at the pond and catch a glimpse of deer resting under the arbutus trees. Birdwatchers' paradise, with eagles, owls, grouse, and more.

Experience the pristine wilderness of Salt Spring Island in a stunning cottage with all you need for a comfortable stay. Tastefully furnished with both antique and contemporary furniture and original contemporary artwork. Enjoy a glass of wine or watch TV in front of the cozy wood stove. There is wifi, 40'TV/DVD, stereo, new queen bed and fully equipped kitchen.

Walk from the cottage to local artisan bakeries and experience the flavours of the island. Meet local artisans in their studios in the area. Salt Spring Island is a vibrant centre for gourmet locally-grown food and cheese, and is famous for its community of artists. The Studio Tour offers a great opportunity to visit these artists in their studios where you can enjoy various forms of creative expression including pottery, visual arts, photography, etc.

The cottage is conveniently located very close to wonderful hiking, beach combing or just beach sitting in Ruckle Provincial Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the Southern Gulf Islands. It is a 486-hectare park with seven kilometres of shoreline, rocky headlands and tiny coves and bays, providing hours or even days of enjoyable exploration. In addition to its natural beauty, Ruckle Park is an area rich in cultural history and offers scenic pastoral views of the neighbouring farm. A mixture of forest, field and shore habitats makes it one of the most productive wildlife viewing areas on Salt Spring Island.

Tastefully appointed, comfortable cottage with wonderful view

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. It is everything it promises to be. The view is wonderful, the garden charming and adds to the peacefulness of the surroundings. A small piece of heaven!The cottage is tastefully and thoughtfully appointed, It looks and feels cosy, warm and is welcoming. It is very cleana nd well-cared for. The wood stove provided warmth and good cheer on the rainy days. And the deck is a great place to sunbathe and relax. We had some great hikes in the nearby park and along the beachfront. A quick walk to the neighbours provided us with fresh bread from their outdoor bread oven. We would definitely recommend this cottage. A lovely peaceful place to be !

A piece of heaven...

Staying at the Blue Anchor was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had... within a day of being there we were so relaxed and felt the stress melting away. Leslie was the most wonderful hostess and has created a place were you have nothing to worry about. The cottage is spotless and has everything you could ever think of. We spent most of our time enjoying the deck on the front overlooking the Japanese garden and the view of the ocean or on the back deck watching the deer. For the first couple of days we also had the pleasure of watching an otter splashing in the pond! The birds were amazing as well, one little humming bird even came to check us out at the patio door as we had supper! Leslie had also pointed out some very lovely hiking areas which we went back to more than once as they were amazing.
It is hard to explain in words the fantastic experience we had at the Blue Anchor... it was tranquil, relaxing, beautiful, and stirred the soul like no other place we have been to. It will be a long time before we forget the feeling of peace and rejuvenation that were all directly linked to the time we spent there.
We are hoping to return to the Blue Anchor this fall and every year after... Thank you Leslie for providing those of us from the city a most wonderful place to get away and remember what it is like to be relaxed and part of nature.

The perfect place

This is the perfect place to relax, meditate and enjoy life as it is. Image yourself being surrounded by nature. A nice and calming pound at the front and a green moss carpet at the back, where we had the pleasure of a visit by 5 deers for breakfast.

The cottage itself is very clean and modern, with everything you may need. Lesley, the owner and artist, carefully chose the colors and decoration to create an harmonious place that feels like home.
We liked it so much that we have made a reservation for August.

Island Idyll

A wonderful place. The cottage was everything it says in the description - immaculately clean, comfortable and very well equipped - and even better than we expected. The owner is very welcoming and helpful, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. It is quiet and peaceful with a delightful pond and deer happily graze close to the house.

There are lots of things to do on Saltspring. We'd recommend the Saturday market, the top of Mount Maxwell for the stunning views (though a slightly scary drive in our car!), and the Sacred Mountain Lavender Farm. Overall though, the highlight was sitting on the deck in the sunshine, listening to the birdsong and watching for hummingbirds.

Definitely recommended and looking forward to our next visit!

Wildlife Paradise

I enjoyed every minute of my experience at the Blue Anchor Cottage. It is very comfortable and cozy, and yet you feel you are in the true wilderness. The view is amazing. The cottage is equipped with everything you need, is decorated with great taste, and offers peace and relaxation. For wildlife lovers, it is absolutely wonderful! I spent hours just observing the birds near the pond. The property is surrounded by tall Arbutus trees and other special trees that give to the place a sense of serenity and simplicity. It is really a place where you can connect to nature in a special way and truly relax. I also liked the fact that it is so well located, close to all the wonderful amenities that Salt Spring Island has to offer, natural parks, artists' studios, local market, bakery. I would definitely come back.
