Winter ski-ing and snowboarding: The extensive ski area of Hochkoenigs Winterreich has 39 lifts and 150 km of ski slopes from Maria Alm to Muehlbach. The ski slopes are overlooked by the craggy 3000m summit of the Hochkoenig, giving the area one of the longest ski seasons in Austria, from mid December to mid April. The local area offers wonderful skiing for skiers of all levels. A ski run passes immediately behind the chalet, linking to a vast and uncrowded ski area with hardly any queues and lots of traditional and relatively inexpensive restaurants on the slopes. Beginners have a choice of nursery slopes easily accessible by car or shuttle bus. Apres-ski, shops and banks are in the traditional and unspoilt resort of Maria Alm, a 5 minute drive by car or shuttle bus.

Stunning Alpine location: With average summer temperatures of 23 degrees, the region is perfect for Alpine summer holidays in an area of great beauty and tranquility. Hintermoos is a wonderful place to be in late spring, summer or early Autumn, with lots of opportunities locally for walking, swimming, cycling, mountain biking, water activities, summer sledging and experiencing the mountains by cablecar and chair lift as well as foot. Maria Alm, a 5 minute drive from the apartment, is a picturesque and unspoilt village and a delight to visit, with small shops, cafes, window boxes full of geraniums and a baroque church known for its soaring spire. The beautiful medieval and baroque city of Salzburg is an hour away, easily reached by car or public transport. Luxurious thermal spas, ice caves, salt mines, rafting and the Grossglockner, Austria's highest peak, are all within easy reach.
