Thank you for a wonderful stay at Sunny View Cottage!! We love it and hope to come back soon!
We stayed at Lynn & Roger's cottage in November 2014, and cannot wait to plan our next visit. It is a hidden gem - truly a home away from home while you are in Sonoma. Centrally located, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean ... plus, you could not ask for more gracious hosts. A well-equipped and spacious kitchen or outside grill for your cooking needs, in addition to loads of information available to plan your perfect wine country getaway. Don't pass up Lynn's welcome basket full of home baked goodies and artisanal cheese - everything is delicious. Cheers!
Wow - what a delightful stay we had in Santa Rosa at the Sunny View Cottage. Definitely an "exceeds expectations" experience. The setting is so tranquil and relaxing - down a quiet street that dead-ends onto dirt roads into the vineyards that can be explored, and lined by farms with horses, chickens, etc. The cottage is extremely well-appointed and comfortable - felt like a high-end hotel! The owners live on-site and are so welcoming and helpful - thanks to Lynn and Roger for making their little bit of paradise available with such graciousness! The cottage is not far from renowned wineries, in addition to necessities like grocery stores and coffee shops. We used this as "base-camp" for some fine cycling adventures and it was perfect for that!
Cottage is just in front of a small vineyard. You can walk through the fields at the end of the street. Well situated for visiting the Russian River wineries, and close enough to Santa Rosa. The owners are charming, thoughtful and very discreet - you feel totally at home. We cooked simple meals often and explored the area. Very quiet at night, you can leave the windows open - we listened to the frog concerts after a few days of rain. Besides the wineries, don't miss Matos Cheese Factory close to Petaluma: excellent cheese at a very reasonable price. And the redwoods of Armstrong Redwood Park close to Guerneville.
This review is long overdue but I didn't want to neglect to pass along my high recommendation for this wonderful spot. Although small from a square footage point of view, it felt very open and we had plenty of space. It's a small cottage attached to the owners main house, but the owners were very discreet and provided us privacy. The kitchen was great for cooking, which we did several times. There was thoughtful and delicious gift basket awaiting us. The bedrooms were quite comfortable and the sheets are just amazing(some once a year sale or something where the owner picks them up) and were so soft and luxurious. Location was great as well. We really loved taking walks into the vineyards that are at the end of the street-was just a beautiful way to start or finish the day. There's also a nice little patio where we shared a bottle of wine outside.
The owner was extremely responsive in the booking and coordinating.
All in all, a lovely stay at a fair price for the wine country.
The SUNNY VIEW Cottage was an ideal home base for our wine country tour. The cottage was easy to find, very clean and nicely furnished. Santa Rosa is just a few miles away and offers several nice restaurants from Italian(Lococo's) to local farm to table dining at Spinster Sisters. The winery tours are excellent(Benovia, Kenwood, Glen Ellen, Chateau St. Jean, etc.) but best to plan ahead and make appointments. We did some hiking as well as there are some spectacular hikes nearby such as Armstrong Redwood Park, Annadelle, and Mount St. Helen. All in all it was a great holiday and I would highly recommend the Sunny View Cottage.
What a delightful place to stay as well as a wonderful couple who rent this property. Lynn & Rodger pulled out all the stops to insure our stay in Sunny View Cottage was perfect in every way. The cottage is beautiful, bright and very clean. It is well stocked for your cooking and meal needs. The beds are very comfortable providing us with a good nights rest, which enabled us to visit the local Winery's and countryside rested and fresh.
Just a short walk away we where able to wander a beautiful vineyard, I was able photograph hanging grapes as well as watch as the vineyard was being maintained by workers.
Lynn had left us a nice basket of home made cookies, chocolate chip as well as crackers, cheese, and a delightful lavender lemon bread all of which where delicious.
I was in a rush to book this property due to a short notice cancellation of another property in this area, by the owner. Lynn worked hard to insure my peace of mind after I had put in the incorrect email address in my rush which ended up causing some communication problems.
If I am ever able to return to this beautiful part of the Wine Country I will return to Sunny View Cottage.
Thank you Lynn & Rodger for making our visit so very pleasant!
