Enjoy your stay at our cozy cottage on Manistee Lake. Decorated in cottage style. Clean, cozy, and really cute. A place where wonderful memories can be made!

Manistee Lake is especially popular for families with younger children as the sandy bottom extends out and is shallow and safe for play. Fish, waterski, swim, the lake is perfect for all. You can use our row boat and cruise the lake.

Grayling is really big on Canoeing. There are a lot of places to go. Shell Haven is the closest on Manistee river.

Manistee Lake is nestled in the vacation heartland of the lower peninsula of Michigan. The surrounding woods are wonderful for hiking, biking and off roading on the Snowmobile and ORV Trail system with thousands of acres of State land! . The trail is just minutes away from the cottage. We have parking for ORV's too. Manistee Lake itself has good fishing for Walleye, Small and Largemouth Bass and various panfish. The Manistee River is only 15 minutes away and offer some of the areas best canoeing and fly fishing.

We rent year round and are within manageable driving distance to Northern Michigans best ski resorts including Shanty Creek, Nubs Nob and The Boynes.

We are nestled in a snow belt with thousands of miles of snowmobile trails. Trail heads is just minutes away, so you can ride from the cottage.

Roembke Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5
My family of 8 with 6 adult children stayed in this cute, cozy cottage for a week. All the essentials were included except towels and a washer/dryer but who wants to do laundry while on vacation. Beds and bedding were all comfortable. Stocked with games, videos, and fans. I can see why the lake was called Manistee. The area was quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed beautiful fireworks on the lake. Took the rowboat out. Enjoyed eating outside, using the gas grill, and coffee in the morning on the porch. Only about an hour drive to Traverse City and to some wine tasting venues on the peninsula and experienced the National Cherry Festival. Traveled to Sandy Bear Dunes for a great outdoor venture with the family. I highly recommend the cottage. Great place to make good memories. The living room and kitchen is a little cozy for 8 adults. .

Relaxing and comfortable

  • 5 of 5
Thanks for the great accommodations. The movies you have were very much appreciated when it was time to relax in the living room. The kitchen and everything was well stocked with the needed tools including cast-iron pots/pans. The row boat is getting up there in age but it works and we used it. I caught a small-mouth bass. I was surprised at the cleaner looking lakes including Lake Manistee. You have to go to the Carefree Cove Store/Resort for take-out pizza, ice cream, treats, etc... I got a Lake Manistee rug. It's a great quick stop. Kids and parents loved it!

This is a good location if you want to do day trips to Traverse City(West) area and Mackinac(North), etc...

Owner's Response: Thanks Matt for the great review. I know how much my family and I love it up there, so it's wonderful to know that my guest had a good time. The cove does have great pizza doesn't it; we get it every time were up. And man.... those cast iron pans.....just got that large one from a friend...you have to have some muscles to lift that one. But it's a joy to cook with....especially when you're cooking for a croud. Hope you stay with us again sometime. Take care.

Our week at the cottage was relaxing and comfortable. The cottage was clean with a well equipped kitchen. Beds comfortable. We slept 5 people. Enjoyed a meal we cooked on the outside gas grill.

This cottage is not actually on Manistee Lake, but you can see the lake from it. There is a dirt road and another cottage between it and the lake.

Good location. We spent a day at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and another at Charlevoix.

We were disappointed with the rowboat since one of the oars was broken and made paddling difficult. We understand the owner plans to replace the broken oar.

The man in charge of the cottage responded promptly when we had a problem that was eventually resolved. He was very helpful. He also informed us that wifi is provided free of charge in Kalkaska, which is a 15 minute drive.

This was our first visit to the area and we were pleased with the cottage overall.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review; I really appreciate it. I didn't realize the boat paddle was that damaged; I will replace the paddle for next summer. The new furnace is almost done, so we will be renting all season long starting this winter. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope you visit us again.

We do have new paddles for the boat!!!!!!!!!

Family of 5

The cabin was a perfect little affordable get away. We are a family of 5 (ages 8, 5, 4) that enjoy biking, walking through the woods, swimming, collecting seashells by the shore, and short canoe trips. This place had it all.

Cabin was very clean with little things easy to find. Remember that there's no washer & dryer or towels to use. Besides that, well stocked with essentials. All beds & comforters were extremely comfortable, we used the bunk bed room as a throw-all.

Easy to find & located down a well kept road with nice cabins that are cared-for. We loved the recently re-opened Manistee Lake Inn right around the corner on the south end of the lake. Gas station/general store right around the other corner.

For two 2 families, the main kitchen/dining/living room area may be a little undersized, but for one family with 3-4 kids -perfect.

Thank you Colleen! -Joe & Tina

Owner's Response: Thank you Joe & Tina for your review. I appreciate all the information. I didn't know about the Manistee Lake Inn, so I'm planning on checking it out. I know the kitchen is a little small, but we have cooked up some big meals for a crowd in there, and now with the new gas grill, it will be even easier. I'm heading up next weekend; were putting in a new furnace, so think about us this winter for fun in the snow.
