Enjoying a totally rural setting high in the Blackdown Hills with stunning views over the Devon countryside 'The Granary' is a very well equipped 4 bedroom converted barn. 'The Granary' is perfect for a family / families or a couple or a group of adults. It is about 3 hours drive from West London. The surrounding countryside offers walking, riding, cycling, fishing & sightseeing in picturesque Devon villages. Dartmoor & Exmoor National Parks and the North & South Devon coastlines are all within a one hour drive. There is a spacious & well equipped kitchen/dining room. The large drawing room has a wood burning stove and opens onto a patio with table & chairs and barbecue. A picnic table and children climbing frame are provided in the enclosed garden. The large master bedroom features a four-poster bed and a balcony to sit out on and enjoy the view across the tranquil valley. Pets welcome. Children will enjoy seeing the chickens, horses and cattle on the neighbouring farm.

'The Granary' is part of an old farming hamlet comprising 4 buildings on hillside in the beautiful Blackdown Hills (designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). There are many picturesque Devon villages in the surrounding countryside. The ruins of ancient Dunkeswell Abbey are 5km away. The old WW2 airfield at Dunkeswell is now home to light aircraft, microlights, skydiving & karting. In July 1944 JFK's younger brother Joe Kennedy took off from Dunkeswell, never to return. Nearby Wolford Chapel was built General John Graves Simcoe, who served as the first Lieutenant -Governor of Upper Canada between 1792 and 1796. Dartmoor, Exmoor and the North & South Devon coasts are all within an hours drive.

Excellent Rural Retreat..

We just came back from a three day stay in the Granary and i must say every thing about the place was excellent. The farm house was very well kept and had loads of space considering our party size of 7 + 2 children. It also had loads of puzzles, a library room stuffed with books and toy baskets to keep children busy. They also loved the horses, sheep and tractors of the adjoining farm..We also enjoyed the barbeque and the garden. The best was the cookies and the fresh flowers that were thoughtfully kept..we had a wonderful time!!
Owner's Response: Yes, we find that children enjoy seeing the horses and sheep next door and hope that the toys & games keep them amused.

The Granary

We stayed at the Granary 1-8-09 to 8-8-09 the house is very spacious with large garden and beautiful views 8 people and 4 well behaved dogs in our party, we would recommend any one to stay for a holiday Exeter Honiton Torquary Sidmouth Exmouth was some of the places we visited. We liked it so much we will go back to the granary for future holidays. For any one interested my husband uses crutches for walking theres a bedroom 2 single beds on ground floor G P and family
Owner's Response: Yes, it is a great house for a large family group.
The bedroom on the ground floor is useful for someone with limited mobility, but I should point out that there are 2 steps into this bedroom, so its not suitable for a wheel chair.
