Cooked, Relaxed, Cooked, Relaxed and oh, did I say Cooked? What a Vacation!

The Lodge was thoroughly enjoyable...from its' design to the setting in the trees...from the Music available to the Wonderful Chef's Kitchen! One of the reasons we chose Steinthal was it's location - near water and trees & Door County. Another was the beautiful photos the owner had of the Lodge, showing the house and the surroundings. And yet another was the fact that 3 little members of our family were able to vacation there with us. We have 3 small pups that have been on each of our 3 vacations each year for the past 3 years. We always look for a beautiful home that will accept them...and Steinthal did. From the minute we walked into the Lodge, the pups seemed right at home. They took up their guard post at the glass entry doors and alerted us to every coming and going around! They loved their time outside too...going for walks and playing together.
The owner called a short while after we arrived (he was not at home when we came in), just to make sure we had arrived safely and that everything in the Lodge was OK. Now, I must say, that was a first!!
I loved the Kitchen. I love to cook and bake and with a Wolf Range, it was so much fun. I made yeast rolls for dinner one night and used the "Proof" setting on the smallest oven (sets to 85°) and that made things move along quite nicely, making the dough raise. Another morning, I made Pumpkin Cinnamon Yeast Rolls...again, using the "Proof" setting and the dough raised quicker than I'd ever had it do before, even in a warm kitchen at home. One evening I made dinner and we shared it with the Owner and his kids. They were most appreciative.
The beds in the 2 upper bedrooms were very comfortable. Bathrooms were very nice, too. There was plenty of seating available (3 sofas and 2 arm chairs) in the main area of the Lodge, with windows all around, looking out at the trees and nature. With all the time I spent in the Kitchen, I was certainly thankful for the 1/2 bath located on the same floor.
Downstairs was the Laundry, bathroom with Shower, and a main room with 2 queen size beds, bunk beds and a sitting area with the one TV in the house. There was even a Pool table in that room.
We'd have loved a TV in the 1st floor Great Room. Since we don't go out much while on vacation, we do watch TV...and it would have been nice to do so in there, rather than the lower level with no view. Lots of stairs.
All in all, we loved our vacation and we'd love to return again!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure having you and your four-legged family. We are very happy that you enjoyed your time at Steinthal. My children are still talking about the wonderful dinner you so graciously provided to us. I agree with your comments about the TV and plan on installing more over the winter months. Dan
