Robin and Sim are lifelong artists, avid gardeners, and outdoor enthusiasts. In 2012 they retired from nearly 20 years of owning a retail art supply store in Santa Rosa. In addition to Parkside Cottage, they now own an art gallery in Santa Rosa, Chroma Gallery at 312 South A Street, Santa Rosa. http://chromagallery.net/
Sim teaches art classes and workshops at the gallery, and both enjoy working in their extensive organic garden, or hiking, biking & kayaking in nearby Spring Lake and Annadel Parks.
Sim is a native of Chicago, but after living in Sonoma County since the '70's he qualifies as a native. Robin is a native Californian hailing from the Monterey Peninsula, and has also lived in Sonoma County since the '70's.
Since 1994, they have been the careful stewards of their charming 1 acre property and are delighted to share it with visitors.

The location of our property lets us enjoy a natural setting while being close to town, which cuts down on the time spent driving. At home, with the sounds of the creek, the birds, and the closeness of the park, we always feel 'away from it all.'
My daughter and I stayed at the cottage for our 'mother/daughter' week-end in Sonoma and Napa. The cottage is a perfect location for our planned week-end. It is easy to get to both Napa and Sonoma. We especially enjoyed the wild turkeys. We found ourselves trying to make it back before dusk to watch the turkey parade. The turkeys and peacocks seemed to talk to each other. Once the sun went down, there wasn't a peep out of them. The cottage has a feel of 'country' and very private. On our arrival we there were fresh eggs from the chickens in the fridge. I loved seeing the lemon tree -- we don't see those on the East Coast. We had a great time and look forward to coming back.
My husband and I stayed at the cottage for a week, it was a perfect location, close to Napa and Sonoma, an hour from San Francisco, a beautiful park across the street and lovely well kept grounds. We found fresh eggs in our refrig from the family's hens and picked kale and lettuce from Robin's garden. Simmons and Robin were great hosts and available when needed. The cottage is clean and cozy and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be back, and did I mention that Lena the cat "allowed me to pet her."
This is my 4th stay in the last 1 1/2 years. We love this cottage. The location is centrally located to everything in Sonoma County. The cottage is very clean and has all the amenities you could need. Robin and Simon are great. They give you your space, but they are always available when needed. The location is a quiet scenic street. We will be back and can't wait to stay at the cottage again.
My husband and I stayed at this lovely cottage retreat for three nights. It was so peaceful. The grounds are really nice with a good sitting area and near the creek there is a picnic table, so you can listen to the birds and the water running. The chickens are friendly, as soon as you get near they run over. There are wild turkeys wandering around at dusk and Spring Lake is within walking distance. The cottage itself had everything we needed for our stay, coffee, condiments in the frig and the owners left us some fresh eggs from their chickens. We asked about using the grill, and the next day they had it ready for our use. The bed was comfortable and we slept very well in this peaceful spot. Very nice people who respect privacy if that is what you seek. It was nice staying here and we hope to visit again sometime.
This was our first stay in the cottage. I found that the location was perfect for me. I love to walk, and Spring Lake is within easy waling distance and a great place to walk. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and we slept better here than we do at home. The cottage is small, older, and a little rustic, but has everything you need including access to the owner's garden, tea, coffee, a place to sit outside, and so on. I only met one of the owners (they were busy getting ready for an art show) but Robin was very nice and really wanted to make sure everything was okay for us. If you want luxury I am not sure I would stay here, but it was perfect for my husband and I, comfortable, quiet, and centrally located. If you want to see the wine country in Napa County and Sonoma County, both are easily accessible from this location.
My husband and I have stayed at the parkside cottage 3 times in the last year. The owners Robin and Sim give you your privacy but they are there when/if you need them. The cottage has everything you need and is very well maintained. The location is central to everything, but still in a quiet country setting. We look forward to coming back to Santa Rosa and staying at the parkside cottage again.
