About The Owner

Robin and Sim are lifelong artists, avid gardeners, and outdoor enthusiasts. In 2012 they retired from nearly 20 years of owning a retail art supply store in Santa Rosa. In addition to Parkside Cottage, they now own an art gallery in Santa Rosa, Chroma Gallery at 312 South A Street, Santa Rosa. http://chromagallery.net/

Sim teaches art classes and workshops at the gallery, and both enjoy working in their extensive organic garden, or hiking, biking & kayaking in nearby Spring Lake and Annadel Parks.

Sim is a native of Chicago, but after living in Sonoma County since the '70's he qualifies as a native. Robin is a native Californian hailing from the Monterey Peninsula, and has also lived in Sonoma County since the '70's.

Since 1994, they have been the careful stewards of their charming 1 acre property and are delighted to share it with visitors.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1994

What makes this cabin unique

The location of our property lets us enjoy a natural setting while being close to town, which cuts down on the time spent driving. At home, with the sounds of the creek, the birds, and the closeness of the park, we always feel 'away from it all.'

Perfect location

  • 4 of 5
This was our first stay in the cottage. I found that the location was perfect for me. I love to walk, and Spring Lake is within easy waling distance and a great place to walk. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and we slept better here than we do at home. The cottage is small, older, and a little rustic, but has everything you need including access to the owner's garden, tea, coffee, a place to sit outside, and so on. I only met one of the owners (they were busy getting ready for an art show) but Robin was very nice and really wanted to make sure everything was okay for us. If you want luxury I am not sure I would stay here, but it was perfect for my husband and I, comfortable, quiet, and centrally located. If you want to see the wine country in Napa County and Sonoma County, both are easily accessible from this location.

Great cottage, perfect location

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have stayed at the parkside cottage 3 times in the last year. The owners Robin and Sim give you your privacy but they are there when/if you need them. The cottage has everything you need and is very well maintained. The location is central to everything, but still in a quiet country setting. We look forward to coming back to Santa Rosa and staying at the parkside cottage again.

Cozy and inviting - perfect spot!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time in this adorable little cottage in Santa Rosa. We didn't get to spend much time there because we had plans all day in Calistoga but now I wish we had been able to stay longer. The cottage was well stocked, and they even left coffee and tea for us, and cherry tomatoes and apples fresh from their garden. I'm sorry we didn't get to enjoy the park and lake that is located so nearby - Robin and Sim even left beach towels!

We highly recommend this cottage and hope to come back again soon.

Adorable!

  • 5 of 5
We had the most lovely stay at the Parkside Cottage!

The cottage is nestled on a unique property in Santa Rosa. There is a beautiful main house, where proprietors Robin and Sim live, an art studio and the cottage. There's a beautiful garden, from which we were encouraged to forage, a hammock, patio, outdoor grill, a slinky kitty, Lena, who patrols the place and hens on the far side of the yard.

When arrived there were fresh eggs in the mini fridge to greet us. Given the proximity of the garden, we decided to dine in our first night, whipping up a roasted vegetable salad from greens purchased at a local farm stand and some extra veggies and fruit courtesy of our hosts. (Thanks Robin and Sim!) Oh, yes, and local wine!

The cottage has a tiny, well-equipped kitchen that's perfect for cobbling together an easy dinner and eggs for breakfast. And a grill and seating outside. We loved the convenience.

It seemed like Robin and Sim had thought of everything: Comfy bed. Wine bottle opener. Small a/c unit. (We were comfortable with an open door, windows and a fan.)

This is a wonderful getaway close to all Sonoma County has to offer. We highly recommend!

This location was perfect and the owners were fantastic. We were within blocks from my brothers house and 2 blocks from a 2.3 mile walking trail. This location was central to the places we wanted to go to and see. We would definitely recommend it if someone wanted to come and visit Sonoma and Napa Valley wine country.
