Le Pech Long has an exceptional setting, two houses at the end of a ridge, surrounded by big oaks and acacias, few kilometres from the Dordogne river. Nearby are the beautiful towns of Sarlat and Domme. Around the houses and the swimming pool is a garden, approximately one acre for your exclusive use, with a large lawn, bushes and flowerbeds, and in the surroundings farming fields and woods. The two houses, the Old House and the New House, built in the Perigordine golden limestone are partly more than 200 years old. Together they sleep 11 persons. Rural Get-Away

Review Submitted: August 30, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We rented both the Old and New House Aug 2009 - one for our young family (three boys - 8,6,3), one for the grandparents to escape! Both cottages are well kitted out, with plenty of kitchen / cookware (something that some self-catering places can be short on). Our boys loved spending time around the pool (26*C was warmer than the ambient temperature back in the UK!) We took our bikes, and enjoyed cycling to Domme and Grolejac - but beware! this involves quite a lot of hill-climbing! Canoeing down the Dordogne was another highlight. A lovely, rural location - the resident owls entertained us each evening! The New House can be quite hot upstairs at night. We found if we opened up all the windows we were eaten alive by various midges!
Owner's Response: We are sorry that 'les Brits' found the bedrooms in the New House too hot. All windows will, however, be equipped with insect nets before the summer of 2010, so opening them will no longer be a problem.

review of Long Pech

555+ Paris, France
Review Submitted: August 26, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We were very happy at Long Pech which is secluded and calm in the middle of the countryside. The pool was the entertainment and in the very hot weather of mid August it was excellent. We also enjoyed driving to the local markets , chateaux, gardens and eating out which was very authentic. It would be perfect for a group of friends where the kids could amuse themselves. The pool had a secutity fence. The Old House is charming.

A beautiful secret

Sandy Sea Lena, Norway
Review Submitted: August 5, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2008
We,a Norwegian family with two girls 10 years old, spent a week i May 2008 at Pech Long. We lived in the old house full of soul with a nice mix of french style and...IKEA! In spite of some rain, the pool and the barbeque was a delightful experience in the garden. Pech Long is situated in a very interesting part of France, especially if you're interested in the human history. Don't miss Lascaux which is not far away by car. The local markets in the villages around is another charmy possibility. We had a very nice week in a corner of France which is not very known in Scandinavia. A calm alternative to the french Riviera!

Charming countryhouses with POOL!

Cosw91 Oslo, Norway
Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We are a Norwegian family with 5 people, kids 3, 8 and 12 years old. We rented one of the two houses the last two weeks i july 2009. It was two fantastic weeks with 27-40 degrees Celsius, not one day of rain! The pool was in use every day, the kids loved it, and we did too! The house was definitely large enough for the 5 of us, and everything worked as it should, cooking, discwasher and laundry. Both bathrooms were large with good sized showers and enough warm water for all 5 to shower when we needed it. The Dordogne area is fabolous, with at lot of great castles og caves, we visited 3 castles and we went into 3 caves. Very interesting for us since we hardly have anything like it at home. This part of Dordogne is rather compact so that by car it didn't take long to reach around to different places almost every day. Since we didn't have to spend a lot of time in the car, we had time to use the swimmimgpool every morning before we took off sightseeing, and also have an afternoon swim when we came home. We highly recommend both the house and the Dordogne area to other families!

Dordogne vacation

Francofil Norway
Review Submitted: June 6, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
We are four friends who rented the Old House for a week last september.
The two houses are located in a quiet spot with beautiful natural surroundings,
and a pleasant swimming pool. The roads close to the property were small,
but we received very good driving instructions which allowed us to find the
way without problems.
For us it was an ideal location for day trips to many of the interesting sites
in the Dordogne area, like Les Eyzies, Pech Merle and Lascaux.
Sarlat and Domme are pleasant small towns within reasonable distance
where you can enjoy the French cooking.
We enjoyed our stay and were pleased with the accommodating hosts.
