La Maison Marlo is located in the beautiful waterfront district of Lachine (15 minute drive from downtown Montreal). Built in the late 1880s, the home was completely and tastefully restored in 2010 to reflect its rustic beginnings. This is a 1500 SF loft-style home on the second level of a two story building. The living area consists of a master bedroom, a second small bedroom, a large living room, kitchen, dining area and a bathroom/laundry room. A balcony sits off the master bedroom, and there is a 10 x 16' terrasse in the back with a gas bbq and sitting area where you can relax or watch the activity of the outdoor market across the way.
When you enter into the home you are greeted by the beautiful 100 year old red pine which covers the 14 ft vaulted ceiling and far wall in the living room. The pine floors and moldings throughout give a cozy, cottage feeling to a city residence. A brick fireplace (gas) warms the entire area with the charm of yesteryear. The 13 foot L-shaped sofa includes a hide-a-bed for extra sleeping space if necessary.
The kitchen is a chef's dream with plenty of granite counter space, a large well-lit island with its own wine fridge and stocked spice rack, and a 5 burner Bertazzoni gas stove. The heated tile floors and appliances are surrounded by 100 year old red pine cabinets and drawers, keeping the old charm alongside modern technology and lighting. A large window looks onto the market while you prepare your meals, and a long 10 man table waits for you in the adjacent dining area when you are ready to eat.
In the immense bathroom you will find the steel claw foot tub which came with the home over 100 years ago. There is a separate walk-in shower, and heated floors (including the shower) will make for happy feet! The laundry area lies just beyond this room and provides some extra storage.
The master bedroom is very large with ample closets and a balcony where you can sit to look down the street at the water and green of the canal area. The smaller bedroom is right beside it. With the bedrooms and the fold out bed in the living room you could sleep up to 6 people if necessary.
This home comes fully equipped:
-linens, dishes, cutlery, cookware
- Wifi internet
-1 parking spot and free parking on the street
Maison Marlo is across the street from the Lachine Market. A fruit and vegetable store and a wonderful cheese store are open year long, and in the summer the open air market offers fresh daily produce, herbs and flowers. There are three cafés/restaurants within one block, and rue Notre-Dame offers many services within walking distance including more restaurants, a hardware store, convenience stores/depanneurs, hair salons and many more. We are 10 minutes from the airport and from 15 minutes from downtown Montreal by car. There is also bus access to various parts of Montreal close by, including an express bus downtown.
We are also situated one block away from the Lachine waterfront and old canal. This area is very active and is a wonderful place to exercise, explore, eat or relax. It features the largest Marina in Quebec, boat rentals of many types, long bicycle paths which connect to the Vieux Port downtown. Along this path are mature trees as well as open green spaces with walking paths and picnic tables along the way to relax or watch the sunset on Lac St-Louis. There are numerous festivals and free activities offered in this area throughout the summer as well. The road along the lake's shore is dotted with historical sites, antique stores, restaurants, bars, majestic churches and interesting architecture.
This is a vibrant and beautiful area to explore, and the experience is completed by returning to the charm, comfort and open space provided by Maison Marlo. We love our home, and hope you will too. We are happy to share with you!

This is our home, we are leaving to go sailing for a few years and my best friend Brian is helping us with the rental. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do/did.
Antoine Zabal purchased this condo in 2010
This is our main residence and not a vacation home.
I spend 15 days with my family in this apartment. It was wonderful. The apartment is very comfortable, big and has everything that we need. There is a local market (very good) in front. We didn't use the public transport, but it was possible to see the bus passing across the street.
I really recommend this place to stay!!!
We spent a week at this lovely home. Having lived in Lachine for many years this was a perfect place to to reminisce and introduce my husband to the area I grew up in. The pictures of this place do not do it justice, from the amazing kitchen with the beautiful Italian gas stove, the dining room with the perfect table for entertaining, the huge bathroom with heated floors and the very comfortable bed in the master bedroom,, you will feel totally at home during your stay. Our old dog loved the space and his walks in the neighbourhood.
There is an amazing farmer's market across the street with lovely fresh produce and just down the street a great bakery from which we bought fresh croissants every morning. The best we've had since visiting Paris.
The Lachine Canal is a few minutes down the street, perfect for long walks each day. The bus service will get you downtown in 30 minutes so need to drive. Or you can cycle the bike trails along the canal all the way to old Montreal.
We would highly recommend this rental. Thanks to Martin for greeting us on our arrival.
I came here with five girls for the weekend and I have to say this place surpassed my expectaions, It was very spacious, huge bedrooms, kitchen, and living room. Had all the amenities near by, a market, grocery store etc. The express bus that takes you straight to the closest subway station is perfect. My only downfall is its distance from downtown montreal. In my opinion I preffered taking the subway system because it was cheap and quicker.
My boyfriend and I (and our 3 cats) had the pleasure of staying here for 1 month. This condo is absolutely beautiful, and in the perfect location. Lovely owners, very helpful with all our needs. Right across the street from Lachine market (tons of cheese and beers from around the world!), great restaurants in the area (El Meson was our favourite).. and the walk along Lachine Canal is stunning.
We would definitely stay here again... warm, inviting and most importantly, our cats loved it! ;)
Everything you could possibly want was thoughtfully provided, and food was available on all corners - open air market, fromagerie, patisserie/boulangerie. Within easy walking distance for young children were good activities such as biking/canoeing along the canal or playing in the park. One tip, the express bus does not run on weekends, we found it easier to drive a few miles to Angrignon metro station and park for the day when going to the city. We enjoyed our stay and Brian was very helpful in answering our questions throughout.
Cottage feel, 100 year old home fully renovated. Located across from an outdoor market. Nearby: park with tennis & pool, cafes, great restaurants, great walking/bike paths. We don't mind small dogs, but nothing large that will damage our floors.
