After years of renting a cabin in North Georgia, we decided that we would scope out the very best place to truly sense a get-away but close enough to allow for regular visits. The beautiful area of Cherry Log/ Blue Ridge stole our heart.
You will not find a cabin that is this well kept... with incredible views... at this price! Check out the reviews.
It's so pleasant sitting here on the screened porch reading and sipping some wine from a local winery. It seems to be threatening rain again, but the wind is providing a nice symphony with the chimes. The birdsong is gone for now but maybe we'll get an encore once this weather system has gone through. Can't say enough nice things about this cabin. It allows us to stay on one floor and still enjoy the hot tub. Love the openness of the kitchen. The road is a little busier than I anticipated but maybe after the weekend, quiet will resume. The screened porch allows us to be outside even though the weather seems to want us to stay inside. This cabin was well thought out in its planning. Area is very nice. We have been to Blue Ridge, Morganton, and McCaysville. Will see Ellijay when we venture out again, which will be another day. Determined to just stay here on a Saturday and enjoy what nature has to offer. Ah, the birds are calling again.
We booked Eagle's Nest last year for my son's spring break. We had been in Cherry Log the previous year but in a different cabin. Well, what a difference. It was like going from a coldwater flat to a penthouse apartment. Beautifully decorated with a magnificent view, we absolutely loved it and it snowed whilst we were there, making things even more wonderful. My husband and I went horseback riding in the mountains, the snow gently falling. It was gorgeous. This year was warmer and no snow but the cabin has not changed at all. You do have to haul your trash out with you and make sure to bring soap for the shower (pump hand soap is provided) but other than that, just enjoy. My husband needed to get away from the city hustle and bustle and we did just that for a week. I particularly enjoyed watching the birds feed (you need to provide your own seed for the feeder) and sitting in the hot tub at night enjoying a glass of wine. We also enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the spectacular storm that drenched the mountain on our last night there. This cabin has the most comfortable king sized bed I have ever slept on. In the loft area there are games and puzzles provided (I did the bear puzzle and it is missing ONE piece!) but the big draw is the peace and quiet and the views. The photos here do not do it justice. Eagle's Nest is the best kept secret on the mountain. The cost is extremely reasonable for what is provided. We have already booked to return the week after Christmas!
Who would have guessed that when we arrived that 2 snow storms were heading our way. Luckily, we had stopped to get provisions for our stay before we got to the cabin. We were “snowed in” (so to speak), but the cabin kept us warm and cozy. We had a nice fire every night and the hot tub was very relaxing, especially with the views of the snow covered mountains and trees. We kept busy putting a couple of puzzles together, watched TV and went out for a couple walks in the snow. And of course I had to build a snowman. There were quite a few deer tracks in the snow but we didn’t actually see any deer. Also, we filled up their bird feeder and I think we were the hit of the mountain. The birds really appreciated the seed.
The cabin was very comfortable, nice beds, plenty of throws/blankets/towels, even robes for the hot tub. Those were much appreciated.
We hope to come back during the non-snow season..LOL. But we saved money by not shopping in Blue Ridge or Ellijay. We’ll just have to shop next time.
The owner was very accommodating and concerned for our situation. Us Floridians weren’t equipped for snow covered mountain roads, but we made it out safely.
We had a nice time. It was a fun experience.
The cabin was nicer than the pictures make it look, and the Owner was very helpful and responsive. We arrived a couple days after Christmas and the cabin was still decorated with a cute little Christmas tree and some other decorations that kept us in the holiday spirit through New Years. My wife and I brought our 3 year old and our 10 month old (both girls), and we had a wonderful time.
The cabin isn't what I would call "baby proof" (and I wouldn't expect it to be), so we brought a small 4 section baby fence that worked nicely in containing our 10 month old while there. My 3 year old loved playing up in the loft and out on the screened porch. The upstairs loft is equipped with a futon/pull out bed and a 2nd bathroom (with shower, which was great to have). The cabin and property were great for a getaway, and the cabin is fully equipped.
Firewood is provided (stacked outside), but it is not covered so when it rains it gets wet. We bought dry firewood at the nearby Home Depot (in Blue Ridge) for the outdoor firepit. I would like to see a rake provided on property to clear away the leaves from around the outdoor pit to help prevent the dried up leaves from catching fire.
The cabin could use some very minor maintenance, including re-nailing a few backed out floor nails here and there (especially beneath the rug in front of the TV), replacing the main bathroom shower head, and replacing (or fixing) the dishwasher (the bottom rack dislodges when pulled out). Other than those items, the cabin was clean and nicely furnished, and was warm and cozy. The views from the screened in porch are awesome, and we enjoyed watching the clouds move from the valley every morning. We saw several deer. The cabin feels like it is perched on the very top of the mountain. The drive up is a little tricky with winding narrow roads, but not unexpected for such a great mountaintop location (and not too hard to navigate). Both Ellijay and Blueridge are about 30 minutes away from the cabin. Be advised, you have to take your garbage off property yourself, which is most inconvenient on your last day when you pack up the car and have nowhere to put a garbage bag or two (and when the garbage dump station isn't open on the day you leave).
All together, we felt the cabin was outstanding and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. We could see ourselves visiting again!
Fantastic cabin with all the amenities! Warm jacuzzi, romantic fire and cozy bed. We wouldn't change a thing abut this cabin! Just 2 of us this weekend, but it would be perfect for two couples as well. So wonderful it made us want to look for one to buy ourselves!
No complaints at all from us. We were there on our honeymoon in early January so it was quite cold but the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Matt was helpful to send us some alternate directions and friendly when I called to clarify a bit of confusion going in. After we got there we felt at home and it was nice and easy to go over to Blue Ridge two days while we were there. It was a great experience we'll remember. Thanks!
Great hiking and fishing directly in the area. The Benton McKay trail literally runs through our community.
