Tavira boasts many local Portuguese shops, plus supermarkets like Pingo Doce, Mini Preco and Lidl. For a day's shopping visit Forum Algarve in Faro with the Jumbo Hypermarket and 200 shops. Or why not travel 20 minutes east to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and pick up some great linen? The Spanish border is close by.
Tavira is pretty and unspoilt with cobbled streets and lots of restaurants. It is lively in the summer months, but not crowded,with entertainment in the main square in the evenings. Sit, enjoy an ice cream and watch the world go by.
The kids will love a day out at one of the Algarves's many attractions like the Aqua Show water park in Quarteira, or how about swimming with the dolphins at Zoo Marine?
