This 30 acre, private property sits in a combination of a wooded and meadow setting with the Stillwater River 100 yards from the back door. It was set up for the active, outdoor, lifestyle dream. The house itself is over 3800 square feet with a recently added game room of 800 square feet with pool table, fooz ball and a flat screen tv for movies. The house is an all tile main floor with wood stove as well as radiant heating in the floor. The upper floor is all carpeted and all the bedrooms are on the upper floor.
If floating, fishing and swimming are your preference you can stroll down to the river from the house to the Stillwater River on the back of the property. There is a great 2 - 3 hour (depending on water levels) float to an easy take out spot down the road. There are no rapids on this portion of the Stillwater River, it moves at a nice floating pace, ideal for children and fishing. Stop for a picnic on one of the many sandbars or try your luck on the mud sliding bank (you won't miss this, it is a popular feature).
For motorcyclists there is access to State lands and Forest Service roads for miles of riding right off the property.
If mountain biking is more your speed, you can head over the highway and ride onto the Lupfer Loop section of the Whitefish Trail system. There are also three rock climbing areas near by.
Spend the day at Glacier Park and the evening at the Whitefish Farmers Market (tuesday nights on central avenue) and then home to relax in the quiet surroundings of the property.
The property sits 13 miles North of downtown Whitefish. The Stillwater Lake and Bar are 3 miles further North from the property for fishing and jet skiing.

** August 2013 - We have an AT&T cell service booster at the house which we can add your phone number too if you have a smart phone (flip phones do not work with the booster) and are an AT&T customer. This will provide full service in the house. Unfortunately if you use Verizon they recently lost a tower agreement and do not have service anymore at our property. This is very recent and I would call your provider before visiting if cell service is imperative to your visit. We do have a laptop for use at the house but do not have a land line.

We have a 7 night minimum stay required, 5 nights will be considered based on current reserved dates
We ask that you book either for Xmas or New Years or both but there is a 7 day minimum over each holiday so both holidays would require a 14 night stay.
The owner, David, is originally from Georgia. His southern hospitality shows when he meets you at the property, handing over keys and giving a brief tour of the house and grounds. He moved to Montana after living in several ski locations in the Rockies and settled in Whitefish for many reasons. The sense of community downtown is strong, the skiing is great, the lift lines are short and the powder is deep. Whitefish was originally a logging and railroad community and maintains much of its original character and still has a small town feel with a year round population of less than 7000 people. The community has a great mix of hard working locals, snow birds, seasonal owners and original Montanans. Property prices are unique in that many of the folks that serve up great drinks, your food and teach skiing can afford to buy a home in town, unlike most other resorts. An engineer by day and tree skiing junkie by heart, David can be found working as a ski ambassador at Whitefish Mountain Resort during the winter. If you want advice on the best tree skiing, he is happy to share his favorite runs with you. His long time partner Bonnie, a native Californian, manages the calender and email correspondence. They look forward to meeting you, are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the property and welcoming you to Montana.

This property had the space, the privacy and proximity to both town, the river, biking and rock climbing that appealed to David. He developed it originally as his main residence before turning it into a retreat.
The Stillwater River floats across the back of the property but is only 200 yards from the house. It is great for floating, the meadows and wooded area are the perfect setting to relax after a day of playing outdoors. The house has an open plan with high ceilings that give a great sense of space and is very comfortable.

Skiing, hiking and mountain biking at Whitefish Mountain Resort, boating, jet skiing and kayaking at Stillwater Lake, Tally Lake or Whitefish Lake. The property is a short drive from Glacier National Park and the Lupfer Loop of the Whitefish Trail System for biking and horses is across the highway from the property. Floating, swimming, kayaking and fishing off the back of the property is available on the Stillwater River.

During this time we reserve the right not to accept a reservation if it will leave a gap in our calendar. For example, if a guest wants to book 3 nights over a long holiday weekend, this is not cost effective for us. We try our best to accommodate our guests but this is a business.|
