When we moved in 25 years ago, we were considered 'urban pioneers' to the local realtors. In time, the beauty of the urban landscape, old Hollywood haunts and red-diaper baby bastion with its music and art pulsing in this alternative to the west side's beachy blandness made being parents to our only son, Devan, a welcome challenge. Now, after riots and fires and searing garage bands making dogs howl, and with the taming of the local gangs, a whole new unique music-health-art-technological minded generation has refined Silver Lake's storied charm.
Beautiful vegetation including divergent tree species and the famous Mexican palms that make LA's trademark. The abundantly interesting and creative younger families moving in and taking pride. The diverse food culture for the carnivore and vegan alike, abounding with great local breweries, pubs and coffee hangouts. We're luckily situated near but far away enough from the complex downtown freeway system which can take you north to the mountains, west to the beach and east to Pasadena and beyond.
