We love our home in South Carolina! Having family nearby, we share meals and good times together. We live in San Francisco, also a beautiful place, but when we go to our So. Carolina home, we simply feel the stress of the everyday life melt away no matter what time of year. We have spent all the seasons and all are equally beautiful. We love beachcombing, meeting and sharing a meal with our neighbors and lazing on the decks with a good book in the heat of the day. Family members visit and we take in the local catch of the day - the shrimp, clams, oysters and crab that our brother-in-law catches himself! We want you to enjoy our home as much as we do.
Debra Varner purchased this house in 2004
My husband is from So. Carolina and all his family is nearby. We knew we needed to have our own home to share with family and friends. We were fortunate to find this special place that brings such joy.
We love the food, beaches, shopping, neighbors and quiet that makes us feel rejuvenated at the end of a stay.
"We stayed in this house for a week and did not want to leave! We had everything we needed for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. Thanks so much for the pet friendly home, it is great to be able to bring our dogs because they are a part of the family. We enjoyed Hunting Beach and trips into Beaufort. We do plan to return next year."
The house is in a great tucked away location, it was just my wife and myself but the house would easily sleep an entire family. The beach was great and just a short walk away and was nearly deserted this time of year, I've never seen so many shells on a beach! The only downside for us at the house and local beach were the blood thirsty swarms of gnats that would show up around 4 o'clock every day, they were thick and relentless so make sure you plan your outdoor activities for the morning and midday and then head indoors where it's safe!! We traveled to Hunting Island on two different days and it was a beautiful place also, the beach there was BEAUTIFUL! This was our first trip to the SC coast but will not be our last, the scenery, food and people were all great but we will stock up on bug spray before the next trip!
We loved being at the end of the road. Easy walk to the beach each morning to meet others walking their dogs. We enjoyed the week very much and hope to be able to go back next year.
Our family of four stayed here for three nights and it was exactly what we were looking for. The house had everything we needed and was in a great location: short walk to the beach, quick drive to Hunting Island state park (the pass is a nice bonus), close enough to what we needed, but still quiet and secluded.
We were lucky to have nice weather for our stay and enjoyed all of our meals on one of the two screened in porches. The observation deck is a real treat, too. Amazing views, and a great spot for bird watching during the day and stargazing at night.
The owners were friendly and easy to work with. We will definitely keep this spot in mind for future vacations.
My family truly enjoyed the house and its location. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. My youngest child said it felt like home. The breezes every afternoon was wonderful after a long day on the beach swimming or fishing. Everything was great. I have no complaints whatsoever and will definitely be back. Thanks for everything Debra!
My wife and I had a great time here. It's a nice size with all of the amenities of home (television, fast internet, nice kitchen!). It's only a short walk to the beach and is very quiet at night. I wish it had been warmer so we could have enjoyed the porches, but they seem very nice as well. It was also great for us that the house is dog friendly! I would definitely recommend this house.
perfect in every way!!!!!

Swimming, kayaking, crabbing, fishing and strolling amongst the oaks are some of the ways you can enjoy the quiet life in the lowcountry. Explore St. Helena Island, Coffin Point Plantation, nearby Penn Center Museum and enjoy the local cuisine at the Shrimp Shack, Johnson Creek Restaurant/Bar on Harbor Island and Boondocks Restaurant just a short drive away. The scenery inspires you to slow down and enjoy the warm breezes during spring, summer and fall. You will have the pristine beaches to yourself during winter when it can be warm and clear.
