About Tim and Kathy Gaughen

Aloha,

We recently relocated to this beautiful community from the Big Island of Hawaii. We lived on the island for 35 years where we raised a family and fully enjoyed the island style of living. When we retired, though, we knew it was time for a change.

Back in California after all those years in Puna, Volcano, and Kona, we now enjoy the proximity of children, grandchildren and extended family.

Tim and Kathy Gaughen purchased this house in 2011

Why Tim and Kathy Gaughen chose Fort Bragg

Like Kona, Fort Bragg is a spectacular Pacific Coast community. This property offers space, beauty, redwoods, wildlife, and comfort.

We have been doing a multigenerational family vacation at Fort Bragg for about 20 years and stay in different houses. This was our 2nd time at Chateau Cleone. It was perfect. Tim and Kathy are easy to work with and everything was ready when we arrived. The house was very clean and comfortable for all of us. We enjoyed it's beauty and being so close to the ocean and exploring. The kitchen was well stocked and the barbecue was clean and waiting for us. The downstairs bathroom has a large walk in shower and a higher toilet. I especially love the cheerfulness of the yellow room. There were games provided and interesting books to read. The hot tub was heavenly among the redwood trees. We had lunch at the Mayan Infusion restaurant in Noyo Harbor. Yum! Right now our ages range from 6-75. The stairs were do-able for all of us. Each year we vote on where to go. Everyone voted on the Chateau Cleone for next year.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had SUCH a good time at Chateau Cleone. The house was comfortable, clean, and well-provisioned.....including interesting things to read and games for the kids. Since this was my first VRBO rental, I wasn't sure of what to expect. What I got: Terrific communications from the owners, a very good lodging value, and a totally fun get away with our family. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had the privilege to stay here three days. The place was roomy, well maintained, and clean. We had a blast every evening in the hot tub after long days of beach combing, and hiking. It was very quiet and secluded even though there are other buildings on the property. Just hope we didn't disturb the whole neighborhood, as we games every night at the huge dining room table. The only flaw to the whole thing is the stairs. The main living quarters are upstairs, with the front door and 2 bedrooms downstairs, definitely got a work-out running up and down. Wouldn't recommend for the elderly. Next vacation to Fort Bragg, we will definitely check in again!

Great Place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed staying, the hot tub at night was so nice after a long day of exploring. We didn't cook there, but it would have had everything we would have needed, we chose to eat out because we were gone most of the day. The Egghead restaurant was great. The house was very clean and I'm a clean freak, and it was well kept. We are already planning on returning. Would recommend this home for a "home" away from home.
