Photos and Description of the Gloucestershire vacation cottage rental

The Old Chapel is situated a few meters from extensive woodland in the Royal Forest of Dean.It is situated up a small lane. Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor. The open-plan lounge/dining area measures 31' x 16' and has high pine-paneled ceilings. It has a woodburner stove (plus oil central heating), original wood flooring, extensive pine panelling, a gothic chandelier and many homely features. There is a 42' flat-screen TV with freeview, and a DVD recorder and video machine. The bedroom on the ground floor is situated off the lounge and is mainly done in sage green/pine paneling. A pine staircase off the dining area takes you up to the second (galleried) bedroom which overlooks the lounge. The ceilings here are high with pine timber beams and lots of pine ballastrading. The kitchen has all mod. cons. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, bath, toilet, bidet, and wash-hand basin. At the rear is a large utility room and a courtyard garden.

The Royal Forest of Dean is a beautiful and unique area of South-West England with a magical and mysterious quality to it.The area was once a royal hunting ground for Norman kings. It has long been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB). J K Rowling grew up in the Forest and gained much of her inspiration for the Harry Potter adventures from the Forest's enchanting and mystical atmosphere. The area is perfect for walkers, birdwatchers, horse-riders, cyclists and moutain bikers with designated areas for all. Tourist attractions include Puzzlewood, Go-Ape, the St Pierre golf course, Offasdyke walk, Clearwell Caves, Shambles Victorian Village, Dick Whittington Farm park, Taurus Crafts, Dean Heritage Centre, Symmonds Yat (seven counties and peregrins can be observed here); the Nagshead Nature Reserve, the National Birds of Prey Centre, Monmouth Canoe Hire.
