Built in 1935, our house was one of the first on Historic Satulah Mountain, and it has been in our family for four generations. We have lovingly maintained the home through the years.
The location lends itself well to those seeking the classic Highlands experience. The view from the ample porch looks directly at Whiteside Mountain and is the perfect spot to enjoy cocktails and watch the magnificent Blue Ridge change colors as the sun sets. The shopping enthusiast has easy access to charming downtown Highlands, just a short walk down the hill ... and the outdoor enthusiast has easy access to Satulah's summit, just a short walk up the hill!
The house is comfortably furnished, its decor accented by wormy chestnut paneling throughout. A large stone fireplace in the living room provides a warm place to gather on chilly nights. Three of the four bedrooms also have fireplaces.
The large master bedroom, in the back of the house, has a king-sized bed, fireplace, bay window view overlooking town and the mountains beyond. It also features a divided 'his & hers' bathroom suite, with a large tub on one side and shower on the other -- both with stunning views.
The 'old' master bedroom, in the front of the house, features an antique four-poster bed, fireplace, its own bathroom, and spacious closet. The two other bedrooms, adjoined by a bathroom, are perfect for families with children, as they are both furnished with twin bed sets.
If needed, there is also a rustic apartment (originally used as a maid's quarters) with a double bed and bathroom under the detached garage, available for summer renters.
The layout of the house -- with two masters and two twin bedrooms-- would be perfect for families vacationing together.
