I have dreamed of providing a 'retreat' space to visitors for quite some time and recently had an opportunity to fullfill this dream. I look forward to offering a stay that is both peaceful and rejuvenating.
Teresa Safay purchased this house in 1982
I chose Ashland many years ago because this city offers a cosmopolitan feel of a large city and peacefulness of a small town.
237 B Street is located in Ashland's favorite historical neighborhood. It is a five minute stroll to Shakespeare, Ashland's many restaurants, shopping and the famous Lithia Park. You will not need to use your car once you have arrived.
I stayed here for a month while in town on business. It is nicely furnished and a great location. Just blocks from the plaza and area attractions, all easy walking distance. The Co-op grocery store is just round the corner with a great selection of fresh produce and great food counter.
I stayed in this sweet two bedroom house for two weeks. It is very comfortable and great walking distance from town, good markets, plays and hikes. I parked my car allmost exclusively and was able to venture out to almost anywhere I wanted to go. I was able to entertain guests and friends for cocktails and dinner with ease. The Ashland Coop Market is around the corner and lovely. Dinner at Peerless was outstanding. Lithia Park offers great easy hikes and is magnificent in the Fall. The manager/owner was very responsive when I had need for help or service. I would gladly reccommend this house to others and will rent it again when I return to Ashland.
The property sits on a busy side street near downtown Ashland close to OSF, shops, and restaurants. The coop in across the street which accounts for a lot of traffic and parking congestion around the area. Fortunately there is dedicated parking behind the house, if you are staying in the two bedroom, you will need to carry your stuff around to the front entrance. We visited during beautiful weather and enjoyed sitting at the outside table pictured; the wisteria affords some privacy but the traffic and congestion of the area makes it less than serene during the afternoon, evening. The unit is cozy and comfortable for two couples who can share a bathroom. The kitchen was well appointed with enough for us to invite family and friends over for dinner. The bedrooms are comfortable, the beds too soft for our tastes, but may be comfortable for those preferring a softer matress. Theresa was very responsive to inquiries and accommodating, allowing my parents to stay on a little later so they could attend church. A flashlight will help you safely walk in the evening as Ashland sidewalks are in pretty bad shape, especially if you are visiting with older folks. We saw someone fall in broad daylight while we were sitting on the porch! Overall we had a great time on our visit and enjoyed the proximity to OSF.
First time at this location. Excellent mattresses, half block from the coop and short walk to the center of town. We've been coming to OSF for over 30 years. 22 at one location that was sold a couple of years ago. We would be happy to come back to this home. Good for two couples. Would have been too small when two families came with kids.
Nice rental, used the 2 BR unit. Beds were comfortable, living room and dining room furniture were amenable to hanging out, kitchen very efficient, shower wonderful. On a very quiet street, close to OSF and right around the corner from the co-op.
We had a wonderful stay in Ashland last time. Location is unbeatable - close to the natural foods coop, a few blocks from the plays and downtown. This nicely refurbished older home was clean and neat with beautiful furniture, comfortable rooms, and the kitchen could accommodate cooking dinners. We'll be back!
Grocery store with full hot and cold deli footsteps away.
