Holly Cottage is a well equipped comfortable, cosy grade 2 listed cottage on the edge of the wonderful town of Tavistock. Only a 2 minute level walk into this well loved town with it's historic buildings and range of varied and interesting shops. Holly Cottage has all you could wish for for your well earned break, comfortable good quality furniture, well equipped kitchen (you don't have to buy any extras here) 2 bedrooms, providing a great place for you and your family to stay. The lounge is spacious, with a dining area at one end seating 4. There is a lovely old feature fireplace with a wood burner. A settee with 2 recliners and a separate reclining chair Flatscreen HD TV with Freesat HD and DVD's provided for all age groups. Wi fi is also available. Enjoy walking into town for a nice meal, leaving your car in it's off road parking space. Plenty of good take away if you want to eat in with the children. Fresh flowers, a bottle of wine and a Devon Cream tea await you on arrival.

Holly Cottage is situated on the edge of the delightful historic market town of Tavistock. Voted the best market town in England, Tavistock offers and interesting range of individual shops, and of course, the famous pannier market, with it's variety of stalls offering delicious food, crafts and produce. On the edge of the Dartmoor National Park with it's vast beauty, hills, streams and rivers to explore and wonder at. Many activities nearby include horse riding, fishing, inc. coarse, river and fly, walking, cycling - near to many National Cycle Paths and hiking. There are numerous golf courses nearby, including the very well known St Mellion, only about 15 minutes away by car. Many others within shorter distances. Hawking can be arranged, as can guided walks on Dartmoor. There are a good selection of National Trust properties within easy travelling. The Eden Project is about an hours drive. The historic port of Plymouth is only 15 miles away.Great beaches approx 40 minutes drive.

  • Holly Cottage has 2 bedrooms, both tastefully furnished with traditional pine furniture and have plenty of storage space in the wardrobes and drawers provided. Bedroom one has a double bed and bedroom 2 has bunk beds. Whilst these are very sturdy we do not permit adults to sleep on the top bunk, unless they are small, lightweight adults. This includes well grown children. The cottage therefore sleeps 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults. We do not provide for small babies but are happy for you to bring your own travel cot etc. Bed linen and duvets are provided free of charge and are changed once during a 2 weeks stay.

Notes: Holly Cottage is very old and has quite narrow and slightly steep stairs. It is, therefore, sadly, not suitable for the less able who could not manage this type of challenge. Parents of young children should also be aware of this as small, unstable children may also find the stairs difficult. Parents bringing young children do so entirely at their own risk and must be wholly responsible for their safety during their stay. There is a courtyard area to the rear of the cottage with a table and chairs. There is a stone shed housing a washing machine for guest use and this can also be used for the storage of pedal cycles at your own risk. There is an off road parking space, particularly useful in Tavistock, as parking can often be difficult.

We spent the full month of August2009 in this wonderful, superb cottage. You will find here all that you need for a fantastic holiday. Caroline and Nick are so kind so helpful. We will have this place in our heart forever, and hope to come back soon.
Ideal for children and parents , lots of things to do, and time to relax!!!

Good base to explore the Dartmoor

We had a warm welcome in this well equipped cottage with cream tea. Shoppping facilities on the doorstep so that you don`t need to move your car just to buy some things for breakfast. Tavistock is a nice village situated on river tavy with some beautiful old buildings. It`s a good base to explore the Dartmoor. The owners of our cottage Caroline and Nick were very kind and very helpful with any information. They gave us a feeling like being at home. I had some nice talks to our friendly neighbours.

Holly Cottage is a great base for exploring Cornwall and Devon. The cottage was comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The addition of fresh flowers, cream tea and wine was a great bonus. Use of local guide books and maps was appreciated. Also free wifi internet was useful.

Tavistock is very well placed for exploring Dartmoor and an easy distance to the Eden Project. It is an interesting town to explore.
Our hosts were very welcoming and even mailed home some garments left behind. Caroline always replied promptly to my queries and made planning from Australia painless.

Holly Cottage is a delightfully traditional and cosy little cottage. Ideal for two or a young family. The cottage is presented to a very high standard and is very well appointed with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, satalite TV and even wireless internet access. The cottage is located on the edge of town, within a couple of minutes walk of some great dining opportunities (Browns Restaurant, Monterey Jacks and Jack & Jills Fish & Chips can all be recommended),no need to take the car. The cottage is also within easy access of the Dartmoor for those that enjoy walking. An hours drive will get you to the North Devon and Cornwall coasts, or into the historic cities of either Exeter or Plymouth.

We were given excellent information prior to our visit and the owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We will be back! and will highly recommend Holly Cottage.
