Situated on the lower slope of picturesque 'Old Village', on the lane down to Megalos Mourtias beach and within walking distance (uphill) to several wonderful tavernas and cafe bars. Old Village with its cobbled paths and flower filled courtyards and balconies offers endless photo and painting opportunities.
Beaches: Nearest beach (pebble) is 1.3 kms, approx. 15 mins scenic walk downhill. There are 2 good tavernas on the beach, one with sunbeds under the olive trees, and fabulous views across to Skopelos.
Alonissos has a varied coastline. There are numerous unspoilt beaches, mostly pebbles but a couple sandy, within 10 to 20 minutes drive of Villa Rosa, plus others further along the island. It is also possible to follow footpaths from the Old Village to the small coves around the south of the island. They are all different and all beautiful, with none of the development seen on other islands. A few have a good taverna for lunch by the sea. There are scenic walking trails leading to deserted coves backed by pine forest. From June to September little taxi boats leave Patiitiri to various beaches along the island. It is also possible to hire a small motorboat in Patitiri. As part of a Marine Park the sea is clean and crystal clear.
Travel: Charter flights from May to October to Skiathos. 5 minute taxi ride to harbour and Alonissos is then reached by Flying Cat or Hydrofoil taking approx. 1 hour 20 mins or by Express Ferry taking approx. 1 hour 45 mins. There are several crossings a day and all are bookable online in advance. The journey is very scenic, usually making a stop at Skopelos en-route and coastline and islets are visible all the way.
Alternative routes via Athens or Thessaloniki with plentiful daily flights all year round. Coaches run to ferry ports of Aghios Konstantinos or Volos and from these the hydrofoil or Flying Cat takes approximately 3 hours.
Also daily flights run from Athens to Skiathos all year round.
Guest will be met off the ferry on arrival in Alonissos and taken to the Villa.
Although off the beaten track, Alonissos is easy to reach.
Car hire is not essential but is a good way to explore the island.
Alonissos offers fabulous walking opportunities with marked trails that take in fabulous vistas. There is a good walking guide book available on the island and also a walking club for those that prefer to walk with a guide.
There is a small yoga school and holistic massage center in the village, just along the lane from the house. Yoga can be booked on hourly basis or a whole week course. Treatments available include Swedish and Hot Stone Massage amongst others.

What a fantastic place !!
My husband and I spent two magnificent weeks at Villa Rosa. After a very warm welcome of Chris at the port of Patitiri, our hired car was standing 30 meters beside the Flying Dolphin and we could go to Villa Rosa immediately. The site of Villa Rosa is the best on the island. At the edge of the Old Village it is one of the few houses you can reach by car.The view to the sea is wonderful. There are three terraces, so you can choose, where you want to be in the sun or shade. Beautiful flowers everywhere and a lemon tree with delicious fruits. One day a greek man brought us fresh fruits from the plot below. The interior of the house is also perfect. It seems to be a mixture of greek and british style, good designed and very, very cosy. The sofa on the terrace was my favourite place in the evening to spend time before the sun went down behind the Chora. The kitchen is well equipped and you find there everything you need. It is so relaxing to sit at the terrace and look either down to the bright sea or to the Old Village with their nice houses.Megalos Mourtias is a 10 minutes walk or two minutes by car a pebble beach with two tavernas,we recommend the left one when you come down. With free beds in the shade of olive trees and the food at Ria’s is very good. One evening there was no electricity and we spent a romantic candle light dinner alone.Ria pampered us with a delicious dinner.Kokkinokastro: For us the best beach on the island ,only few people and heartbreaking sourroundings. Only a small palmcovered hut to get something to drink.Gialos Leftos: Our favourite place!Pebble beach, few people and the taverna of Eleonas has the best homemade food you can imagine. We stopped at Steni Vala for a good lunch and relaxed afterwards in the wonderful surrounding. A very nice place to go before dinner is the Sunset Bar between Patitiri and the Chora. There you can drink a sundowner and it is the best place to take photos of the sunsets. We liked to go up to Old Village in the evening and we liked the dinners at Astrofegia and the bars up there. There are so many hidden places, which you can explore day by day. Kalithea: Massages, reki, healing just 2 houses away from Villa Rosa. We loved the massages and other treatments,Bibi and Lee do a really good job!We actually fell in love with this beautiful island and Villa Rosa and we will come back very soon!
Alonissos is a peaceful, unspoilt island offering the chance to experience authentic Greece and outstanding natural beauty. As part of a Marine Park the crystal clear sea offers excellent swimming in the many beautiful quiet bays and coves. Fabulous walking on the marked trails that criss cross the island through pine forests, ravines and along the coast. Old Village perched on the hilltop has breathtaking views in all directions and has several wonderful tavernas, small supermarket, bakery, gelateria, small shops and a gallery. Patitiri, the bustling little port town is 3km by road and has numerous tavernas and cafes, several supermarkets, 2 bakeries, butchers, bank, post office, medical centre. Easy day trips to beaches, Marine Park islands or to Skopelos can be booked here. The pretty harbour village of Steni Vala further along the coast has good waterside tavernas and a dive centre. A car is recommended to explore the island but not essential as there is a bus and taxi service.
Other Activities: Yoga, Alexander Technique.
