My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to sneak away for a few days for our 11th anniversary and this truly was our "Haven on the Hudson". Everything in the description is accurate and Chad was just truly wonderful!! He was always available to answer my questions and it was so nice to meet him the day we arrived. He even left us a nice surprise in the fridge for our anniversary! The house is just gorgeous and any view out of the MANY windows is breathtaking! The house is well stocked from the kitchen to the bedrooms and you need not bring anything except clothes and food. We spent the days fishing from the row boat or the dock, napping (It’s so peaceful I took 3 naps in one day) and when I didn’t feel like going fishing, I just curled up in the recliner with my Kindle in front of that gorgeous view. We were married in the town of Saugerties so we spent an afternoon visiting the church and Seamans park (which is beautiful in the fall with all of the mums) and having dinner at Emiliano’s restaurant (which is where we had our rehearsal dinner and the food was still great). We woke up early one morning to weird sounds and jumped up to see what it could be and it was a group of turkeys wandering around outside. I liked not knowing what I may see or run into. Don’t hesitate…..just book your dream house!! MANY, MANY thanks Chad for making this happen for us!!!
The listing for this spacious, light-filled house, right on the river, seemed too to be true, but it lived up to and exceeded our expectations. We had breakfast and coffee on the porch each morning looking out on the river, sunned out on the dock, swam, and canoed on the river. There's a huge and well-stocked kitchen we cooked most meals in, though there's also a wealth of options nearby in Saugerties and across the river in Red Hook and Rhinebeck. The house was comfortable and modern and got amazing light.
Having spent some time in various towns near the Hudson, I can't stress enough how exceptional this place is, and that it has some much frontage feet from the house. As you look across and up and down the river you can see there really arena't that many properties that are truly river-front.
One note: the current on the Hudson can get strong. If you start your canoe ride downstream, save some arm strength for the trip back.
I just came back from 4 amazing nights at this property and I have nothing but great things to say about it. I’m already planning my next trip back! First of all, Chad was a delight to deal with. He answered all of my many many questions prior to arriving and was always only a text message away once I arrived. Now about the property…… WOWZA! It’s totally secluded- no neighbors, just you and nature. The driveway itself is a quarter mile long! I’ve rented many properties, but this is the first one that was fully stocked! All you need to bring is your clothing, and groceries. While I was there, we went fishing- caught 15 fish, and cooked them up in the fabulous kitchen. We BBQed on the deck and had lunches on the dock. I even picked fresh cherry tomatoes and jalapeno peppers from the grounds for breakfast. The beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. It was like sleeping in my own bed at home. There’s a town and shopping centers nearby (maybe 15 minutes away), so you’re still able to reach civilization. However, once you arrive, you won’t want to leave the house! I truly loved my stay here and I can’t wait to return! I hope to be a yearly renter :)
The place was incredible and exactly what we were looking for. Quiet secluded and peaceful. Right on the water in a gorgeous location. The house was clean and spacious with all the amenities one could need.
Would highly recommend to anyone!
We were a group of 5 adults and 2 toddlers visiting Camp Rising Sun in Rhinebeck for Alumni weekend. We were absolutely lucky to stumble upon this amazing retreat. I agree with all the positive things already said in the reviews below...and want to emphasize how incredibly clean and comfortable this house is. Additionally, the owner is wonderfully accommodating, gracious and responsive. The house is perfectly stocked and luxuriously appointed. We found the location to be perfect - secluded but with quick access to just about anything you need. And there was plenty of space for everyone - the floor plan is expansive AND the setup is quite smart. All in all - a perfect 10! Couldn't have asked for any more! Thank you for the great weekend!
This house was beyond perfect for a girls getaway for Memorial Day weekend! There were 7 of us, and the house was beautiful and very spacious. The property is truely a hidden gem in Saugerties. It was also close to so many activities, including hiking, vineyards, and nights out in Rhinebeck. I would definitely stay here again. The owner, Chad, was incredible and really made our trip memorable. He made sure that we were settled and was only a phone call away. I'd recommend this house to anyone wanting an escape to the Hudson Valley.
