Best Rental Ever

  • 5 of 5
We have rented on VRBO for years and of all the cabins around the country we have stayed in this was the best. The pictures do not show just how nice, secluded, provisioned, and perfect this place is. We used the campfire every night, the hot tub was sparkling clean and had a terrific view of the mountains, the place is remote but neighbors are shouting distance away, just right! One of the neighbors greeted us on our walk and was very friendly telling us if we needed anything stop by. We went to Klingmans Dome, Cherokee, and would have done more if we had a longer stay. When we go back to Maggie Valley to ski this Winterr we will be staying at the Elk Crossing Cabin! Jennifer and Billy were terrific to work with, even found my 9 year olds wallet under a couch and fedexed it to us on our return. One happy 9 year old when that arrived! Highly Recommend this cabin.

We loved our 4 night stay at this cabin; the photos of the property were an accurate reflection of this vacation cabin. There was easy access to the cabin but the final driveway down to the cabin, although short, was kind of steep. Since we were in a mid-size SUV we were able to manuever around to drive back up the driveway when we left the cabin but if we'd had 2 vehicles with us we would have had to back up the hill & it is a rather narrow driveway. The cabin was in a nice & quiet location, which is something important to us. The cabin was also very clean, well-stocked & comfortable. I corresponded with the owner through email & telephone--it was very easy to contact her. We golfed at the Lake Junaluska Golf course. We have played there many times & it is one of our very favorite places to play--the views are awesome. We also enjoyed browsing through the shops of downtown Waynesville, as well as Maggie Valley. The Sweet Onion Restaurant in Waynesville is one of our favorite restaurants in this area; if you like French Onion Soup you have to try theirs. We also went up to Water Rock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway to watch an amazing sunset. We love this area & would definitely like to stay here again.

Wonderful stay at a beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to visit the Maggie Valley area. Even more beautiful in person and super, super clean. The cabin has everything you could possibly think of! Secluded and quiet, yet not too isolated. Unfortunately, it rained most of our 3 night stay, curtailing some activities (we managed to build a campfire for just a few minutes one day!), but we still had a great time. The cabin is only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a spectacular drive. We stopped at almost every overlook for pictures. The kids tried fishing at a nearby lake but didn't have much luck. They didn't seem to mind much! We visited Great Smoky Mountain National Park twice. We took the BRP to the Visitor's Center one day and toured that. The next day we went to the Deep Creek area (driving through Cherokee) and hiked to see 3 beautiful waterfalls. We didn't get to see the neighborhood elk, but we did get to see one in the Park!

Overall, I'd highly recommend this cabin. You'll spend some time driving to local sights, but I think that's true of about any cabin in the area. The owner is super nice and easy to work with. We went to the beach for a few days after leaving the mountains, and our deposit was waiting for us at home when we returned - great service!!

Clean, spacious, great location

  • 5 of 5
Beautifully landscaped property, nice open floor plan. Loved sitting around the firepit at night while the boys played their guitars and sang. The temperature at that elevation was cool all day! Kitchen was equipped with everything! We loved your cabin, thank you for allowing us to stay!

Weekend at Elk Crossing

  • 5 of 5
This was an amazing weekend. The view is beautiful the sound of birds is the only sound for miles. The house was perfect, packed with all the amenities and more. Hotels can be nice but nothing like the feel of a home. I would recommend this place for a quiet gettaway and the option to have activities around town.

Great Fall Get Away

  • 5 of 5
I stayed at Elk Crossing in October to take a family get away and enjoy the fall foliage.
Some of the other reviews say the cabin is secluded. I was a bit afraid of this at first so just know the cabin is up on the side of a mountain but there are other cabins around. The other cabins are not right next to you but within walking distance. For me it was the perfect mix of privacy yet knowing if there was an emergency other people were not too far away.

The views of the leaves were great from the cabin. There is a rock formation behind the cabin that is really cool. If you just like to sit and read and relax...you could sit on one of the rocking chairs on the porch and read a book and enjoy the view. My son and I enjoyed exploring the area as well. There are a lot of trees so it was just a gorgeous view and lots of leaves to collect.

This inside of the cabin is very well decorated and was very clean. I felt that the cabin looked better in person than in the pictures. There is a fire pit that we built a fire in a couple of nights and roasted marshmallows and sat by the fire.

There is also a lot to do in the area as well. My mom and I went shopping in Waynesville one day. Waynesville is about 15-20mins away. It is an old fashioned town with brick buildings and decorated store front windows. We had a nice time shopping and had lunch there one day. Smokey Mountain Railroad was another place we went to that had a nice town and we rode the train. The Blue Ridge Parkway is very close and you can take that over to the Smokey Mountain National Park.

The owner was great to work with and sent me documented instructions on how things worked in the cabin and directions to the cabin. I had a question while I was at the cabin and the owner called me back right away.

I can't say enough good things about this cabin and my family's wonderful experience there. We had a great time and definitely recommend it to anyone else that wants to vacation in the Maggie Valley area.
