I can't begin to describe how wonderful our five night stay in this cabin was. It truly was like home away from home for us as everything we needed was there and waiting for us. We cooked supper each night and the kitchen had everything we needed. Cabin was very clean and comfortable. The owners were wonderful to work with and a pleasure to rent from. Our security deposit was returned very quickly and I never worried about any of the details. Most of all, our yorkiepoo was welcomed to stay with us and enjoyed our vacation as much as we did. We spent two days sightseeing at Biltmore, traveled a few miles on Blue Ridge Parkway, visited Soco Falls (just a few miles from cabin), Deep Creek, Ocalouchee Valley, Mingus Mill, and Cherokee. We stopped at a couple of roadside shops and picked up some local fare to cook for supper. We were able to view several elk while in Catalouchee Valley and one down the road from the cabin. AMAZING! We can't wait to return! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!
Awesome place - pictures do not do it justice! We had a very nice time at Elk Crossing. The house was well stocked and very clean. The house is on the top of a mountain and the views are beautiful. The driveway up to the house is scary and we were glad to have all-wheel drive, but that's expected when you're staying on the top of a mountain. The owners were great to work with and very responsive. My security deposit was in the mail on the day of our checkout! Overall a great experience!
We have rented on VRBO for years and of all the cabins around the country we have stayed in this was the best. The pictures do not show just how nice, secluded, provisioned, and perfect this place is. We used the campfire every night, the hot tub was sparkling clean and had a terrific view of the mountains, the place is remote but neighbors are shouting distance away, just right! One of the neighbors greeted us on our walk and was very friendly telling us if we needed anything stop by. We went to Klingmans Dome, Cherokee, and would have done more if we had a longer stay. When we go back to Maggie Valley to ski this Winterr we will be staying at the Elk Crossing Cabin! Jennifer and Billy were terrific to work with, even found my 9 year olds wallet under a couch and fedexed it to us on our return. One happy 9 year old when that arrived! Highly Recommend this cabin.
We loved our 4 night stay at this cabin; the photos of the property were an accurate reflection of this vacation cabin. There was easy access to the cabin but the final driveway down to the cabin, although short, was kind of steep. Since we were in a mid-size SUV we were able to manuever around to drive back up the driveway when we left the cabin but if we'd had 2 vehicles with us we would have had to back up the hill & it is a rather narrow driveway. The cabin was in a nice & quiet location, which is something important to us. The cabin was also very clean, well-stocked & comfortable. I corresponded with the owner through email & telephone--it was very easy to contact her. We golfed at the Lake Junaluska Golf course. We have played there many times & it is one of our very favorite places to play--the views are awesome. We also enjoyed browsing through the shops of downtown Waynesville, as well as Maggie Valley. The Sweet Onion Restaurant in Waynesville is one of our favorite restaurants in this area; if you like French Onion Soup you have to try theirs. We also went up to Water Rock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway to watch an amazing sunset. We love this area & would definitely like to stay here again.
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to visit the Maggie Valley area. Even more beautiful in person and super, super clean. The cabin has everything you could possibly think of! Secluded and quiet, yet not too isolated. Unfortunately, it rained most of our 3 night stay, curtailing some activities (we managed to build a campfire for just a few minutes one day!), but we still had a great time. The cabin is only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a spectacular drive. We stopped at almost every overlook for pictures. The kids tried fishing at a nearby lake but didn't have much luck. They didn't seem to mind much! We visited Great Smoky Mountain National Park twice. We took the BRP to the Visitor's Center one day and toured that. The next day we went to the Deep Creek area (driving through Cherokee) and hiked to see 3 beautiful waterfalls. We didn't get to see the neighborhood elk, but we did get to see one in the Park!
Overall, I'd highly recommend this cabin. You'll spend some time driving to local sights, but I think that's true of about any cabin in the area. The owner is super nice and easy to work with. We went to the beach for a few days after leaving the mountains, and our deposit was waiting for us at home when we returned - great service!!
Beautifully landscaped property, nice open floor plan. Loved sitting around the firepit at night while the boys played their guitars and sang. The temperature at that elevation was cool all day! Kitchen was equipped with everything! We loved your cabin, thank you for allowing us to stay!
