We stayed this past weekend -- 3 adult couples and a handful of kids under 5. We all absolutely loved our time here. The owners were gracious, lovely and helpful (and talented jewelry makers to boot!). We loved our stay here and would enthusiastically stay here again!
The following words describe this place: great owners, well kept, and charming! My wife and two kids joined two other families with the same amount of kids - it was essentially a Cal Poly alumni reunion. We were looking for a place good for kids and a little quiet with amenities such as a pool as lots of space. This place met those needs and more! Perhaps the best part about the Laguna Negra property is the owners. They were extremely hospitable and accomodating (considering the fact that renters share some of the owners beautiful yard space). We were even provided some homeade rasberry jam - grown and made right on the premises. We also really enjoyed the rural location which was close to the beach yet far enough to enjoy the peace of the country side. Several keys for children were: an enclosed and onsite pool, a fenced in yard, a billiard room, fire pit and of course the rasberry fields. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it! Enjoy,
Typically I do not write reviews, but our stay here was so great that I felt I needed to share my experience. We had the pleasure of staying at this property the weekend of my graduation from Cal Poly this past June. My family (including my dog) drove up from southern California to come celebrate with me here. We were all pleasantly surprised by the property when we arrived and the weather was perfect (mid 70s). This guest house sits on a huge property and is secluded from the main house (if you are looking for privacy) and if not you have access the the main backyard that includes a fire pit, indoor spa pool, and pond. The main house is very well maintained and it helps that it was recently updated. It consists of mainly wooden floors and the furniture complements the place very well. There are 3 bedrooms, two with queen beds and TV's in them and the last room has a bunk bed (where the bottom bed is a queen). The living room has a pull out queen couch as well if you need that.
We barbecued both days and they had everything you needed in the kitchen including utensils and cookware. They even left us a jar of jam on the kitchen table as a welcome gift that was made from the raspberries grown on the property! There are two BBQ grills to utilize. The first night, the owners let us use their built in grill in the main backyard which was very nice and the second night we used the grill in the backyard of the guest house which was also very nice. The owners are so welcoming and kind and also accommodated us in building a fire in the pit, where we grilled marshmallows for smores! They even set up tables outside for our BBQ on the main patio the first night to accommodate all of our guests. The second night we used the spa pool and they were happy to heat it up for us. There you will find they have towels for you to dry off with and toys for kids to play with in the pool. We were so pleased with the hospitality from the owners of the property.
Overall, our experience was great and if you are looking for a place that is truly a home away from home this is the right place for you. We have rented several vacation properties (Miami, Cabo, El Salvador) and this was by far the best in terms of having everything you needed and comfort. The property is so well maintained and clean that it makes you feel good to stay here. It also helps that the owners are two of the nicest people we have met. We will be sure to stay here again when I return to the Central Coast!
The California Central Coast is a truly unique place. It offer everything from horseback riding, to surfing, to wine tasting in wine country, kayaking, hiking....you name it, you can do it here. It offers a truly mild climate and is located conveniently between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
