That is Bella and ElliRue; ....... They are what we named our Company after! The BellaRue Cottages ........
The Owner purchased this house in 2008
The property is a perfect combo of a country and beach setting. Also, having two seperate houses on one property, allows many familly's / or couples to play on the beach together all day and go to different houses at night. We also can accomodate 2 different parties at the same time or just rent you the 'one' house that suits you the most!

This was our second stay at BellaRue...we love this place! There are so many pluses ...the location, the fact that linens are provided ( we come in from Texas) , the beach, the view...did I mention the location?
This home is very comfortable for the two of us, and we love that there is room for family to come up and visit. I have family in the Lexington area and it's perfect for them to stop by for lunch, or for us to meet before dinner.
We did have a large group renting the property next door this time, but the way the properties are situated, we hardly noticed they were there. We were able to build a bond fire on the beach this trip, and loved sitting around the fire. Family came down to join in and it was a really great time.
Stop for groceries on the way up, as there's not much locally. The kitchen is great to work in and has everything you need to prepare quick meals during the day. There are many nice restaurants locally with really great food. We usually eat lightly for breakfast and lunch, from preparations we bring, then head out to the Stone Lodge, or Uri's or one of the other great places.
Wake up early and enjoy the sunrise on the deck with your first cup of coffee...this is the life!
We have already made our reservations for 2015! Reserve early because there's a good reason this place stays booked!
We rented both houses August 7 through 10 2014. Two couples in the big house, and a family of five in the guest house. Plenty of room! Master suites upstairs is luxurious and resort style. Had to force ourselves out of bed every morning. Woke up to sunshine and the sound of waves and water. Perfection. Mighty comfty mattress also!
Not only did we have the perfect weekend at the property, we were also able to bring our sweet golden retriever with us, that sealed the deal.
While renting the place, we held our wedding with about 70 guests. Ceremony on the beach, reception up the stairs between the houses. It worked out like a dream. All guests were ridiculously impressed, as was I.
Josh was absolutely, hands down, the most helpful landlord for the weekend you could have asked for. He even went as far as sending over a landscaping service Friday before the wedding to have a fresh cut lawn, and beautify the existing landscaping even further than it was (ie, trimming down the hill to the beach, trimming back some of the willow tree, all kinds of unnecessary things he didn't have to do, but did JUST BECAUSE!) he was always a phone call away if you needed anything.
On Sunday morning, knowing we had extra to clean up after a wedding, he gave us complimentary late check out so we could sleep in a little and not rush.
The houses really showed pride in ownership, even with little touches like scented candles, fresh flowers... We are so impressed with you BellaRue Cottages!
Also, the ac worked GREAT! We even got a little chilly indoors a couple times. Our food was always cold in the fridge. The furniture is the opposite of outdated, it's very comfortable and modern.
The property is very well represented in these pictures. I have zero negative things to comment about! All positive! I could go on all day.
Thank you again Josh. We hope to return next summer. And hope you got the coozies we left you!

The last review here was a negative one, do not let that be your decision maker. My family had a wonderful week here. Josh was very accommodating to us. The beach is clean and sandy. The master bedroom is on the lakeside. While laying in the most comfortable mattress I have ever been on, I had a clear view of the lake. Honestly this place is wonderful and am already planning next years vacation.
Where should I start???? This was our 4th annual guys trip and the first time that I received complaints about the house I picked. The couches and pullout sofas are probably from the 80's. Very uncomfortable. The A/C barely works in either house. The condition of the side door to the main house is horrible. Even when it closes it has a 3" gap that all the bugs com in from. The view of the lake from the deck has been hampered by weeds that almost turned into trees. The pictures on here don't show the weeds/trees! The owner also fails to mention that there are 47 steep narrow steps down to the beach! The steps are so small that you can barely fit your feet on them.
The fridge and freezer in the main house can't hold proper temperature while the fridge in the guest house is more like a freezer.
I emailed the owner a couple days ago about when I will receive my deposit check back. About a day later he responds next week. Then yesterday he responds that there was damage to the house which is totally false. How do you wait 2 weeks after my arrival to tell me there was damage especially when the new guests were arriving the same day that we left?? If there was something wrong then I should have been notified the same day this supposed cleaning crew arrived at the house, not 2 weeks later! Something definitely looks shady to me. We left that house nice than when we arrived there and now the owner is trying to keep our deposit. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!
My husband and I spent 4 cold, rainy, wonderfully relaxing days at this location. We rented the main home and the views are spectacular. We had planned to stay busy for the trip, but when the weather turned "typical Michigan- unpredictable" we chose to nestle down in the comforts of the home. Everything in this cottage is in great working order (my husband especially enjoyed the working flat screen TV with it's movie channels). Beds are comfy, linens are clean, and the surroundings are great. The location is close to great places to eat both in Port Sanilac and Lexington, just a quick drive north or south and you are there. Both towns have great shops for browsing, and buying!
The beach is some of the best in the area. Long open stretches unhindered by jetties, seawalls, or bulk heads. We did get out between rain showers and the stairway down to the beach is easy to navigate, and well maintained. We didn't make use of the deck, but imagine it would be glorious in the summer. there are neighbors, but the way the cottage is situated, you feel very isolated.
We would definitely consider staying here again, on a return trip to the area. We hope make it back this summer, when we will relish the cooler temps, as a break from our Texas heat.
My family and I stayed for an extended weekend at property#406460. The view was beautiful -we enjoyed the beachfront access and the huge firepit!! Having all the amenities was wonderful and the owner supplied many special touches.
We are planning to return next year and would highly recommend this property to anyone. Very clean. Pet friendly a huge plus. Owners very accomodating and helpful. If you want the perfect getaway-this is the place!
The town of Lexington is just down the road with all it's great shops and winery! there is a great pro/am GOLF course called Lake View Hills right around the corner as well as many local public Golf courses. There are miniature golf ( PUTT_PUTT ) courses in Lexington as well as BOWLING alleys just minutes from the house. Port Huron and Sanilac Harbor are close and offer BOATING, DIVING and FISHING charters. Fishing aslo can be done right out in front of the house or off the walls of both near by harbors. if you're into sports Ford Field and Commerica Park are a short drive down 94 to see the LIONS or TIGERS and DETROIT has many large CASINOS and night life if that's what you're looking for.
