About Lanzarote: In 1987 Lanzarote was declared one of the six universal models of sustainable development by the World Tourism Organization and in 1993 it was declared a Reserve of the Biosphere by UNESCO.
Lanzarote is the most easterly of the seven major Canary Islands and lies in the Atlantic Ocean only some 100 km (60 miles) from the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula.
The island enjoys an average temperature of 22ºC all year-round due to its advantageous location in the Tropic of Cancer. Lanzarote has an unusual volcanic terrain and will not disappoint travellers yearning for breathtaking eco-tourist attractions. Lanzarote has a staggering 300 volcanoes, extensive lava fields at Timanfaya National Park show the violent volcanic activity that became Isla de Lanzarote.
Amongst the most outstanding attractions are the Art, Culture and Tourist Centres, the world famous artist César Manrique's sensitive response to Lanzarote´s unique geography and people was instrumental in creating a pervasive artistic identity throughout the island.
Explore subterranean volcanic tunnels through lava tubes created by molten lava. Los Jameos del Agua is the most widely visited lava tube in Lanzarote, owing to the sparkling blue lake that lies in its centre and its development by Canarian artist Cesar Manrique in 1968. Volcanoes and frozen lava rivers are not the only places worth seeing in Lanzarote. The paradise island is home to miles of white-sand beaches and gorgeous coastline. Windsurfing, para sailing, scuba diving, and other forms of water sports are some of the most exciting ways to enjoy the refreshing turquoise waters in Lanzarote.
What a gorgeous villa for our family holiday. We had a fabulous holiday loving the fact that the villa was in a very quiet area with just a short walk to the local shops, perfect for those breakfast croissants. We had a car to go and explore the island but the villa was so lovely we often enjoyed just chilling by the pool. Casa Olivina its self was very spacious, decorated tastefully, and impeccably clean. The villa was very well equipped with everything that we could have asked for, the books and DVD’s were a nice touch and very useful. The pool was perfect for playing in, which was just what we wanted and we made good use of the BBQ too.
All in all this was an excellent villa, faultless for a family holiday we would recommend to friends.
Thank you to Shaun and Lorraine for such good communication and efficiency.
We wanted a holiday where our 2 young kids could swim in a pool without getting bombed or splashed by other kids. We saw this villa and contacted the owners who were really helpful.
Casa Olivina was more than big enough for us. We found it to be extremely clean and finished to a very high standard. It is tastefully decorated and was like a home away from home. Every last little thing was thought of, even books, DVDs and toys for the kids.
Although there is no shallow end in the pool, it is a great heated pool and my husband and I could relax whilst the kids played in the pool - needless to say, our kids loved it and spent hours in it every day.
The garden was also very well maintained with nice sunbeds and a lovely alfresco dining area.
The location was perfect - because it is in a residential area, we found it to be peaceful, quiet and private. We hired a car and would highly recommend this, especially with a young family as this means Playa Blanca is easily accessible, as is the rest of the island. Just about everywhere on the island is good for driving. It's also the best way to get to many of the attractions in Lanzarote - Jardin de Cactus, Montana Roja, Castillo de las Coloradas, markets especially in Teguise, just to name a few. And, above all, parking is easy and usually free.
We spent New Year's Eve in Playa Blanca and saw some amazing fireworks displays on the sea front. And, when the kids couldn't stay awake any longer, we headed back to the villa where we saw the rest of the display from the roof terrace - a truly amazing experience!
The location of the Villa is ideal if you want to have good access to Playa Blanca but have some peace and quiet to relax. And, if you don't fancy driving, then the walk way alongside the sea towards the Marina was well maintained and ideal for promenading.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Casa Olivina and hope to return soon.
Thank you Shaun and Lorraine so much for the lovely stay at Casa Olivina Villa!!!
We arrived on the 29th Aug and were immidiatly impressed with this lovely villa.
The whole place is spotless clean and tidy and has everything you could wish for regarding amenities.(I was particularly impressed with the range of English TV channels including sky sports!!!!)
The pool was very clean and was cleaned twice while we were there the outside areas surrounding the pool were very good.
It is just a great villa all round and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone .
Thanks for a great stay !!!
We have just returned from another wonderful week at Shaun and Lorraine's beautiful villa in Playa Blanca - Lanzarote (our 4th booking). The villa remains absolutely spotless with newly added satellite tv.The villa offers particularly high levels of privacy and quietness, with private parking for the car we hired for the week. The weather remained fantastic throughout allowing full use of the villas pool and visits to the beaches for swims in the sea. We honestly cannot fault the villa and its location, and the resort of Playa Blanca is absolutely beautiful. We would recommend all without reserve. Many thanks David and Judith.
The villa was clean, spacious and in a quiet area (no noisy neighbours !) with a lovely, warm pool. The local shops were a short walk away and the shopping complex also included various restaurants and bars, several managed by English ex-pats, so there were no language difficulties. We had a hire car and found our way easily to the Natura Beach and Iberostar hotel areas, where we could park and walk along the attractive prom to many restaurants, cafes, bars and beaches. We drove to Arrecife town, parked underground at the "Gran Hotel" on the front (take the lift to the restaurant & cafe on 17th floor for spectacular views) (note: virtually all shops close from 2 to 5 pm, observing the traditional siesta); Puerto del Carmen (much more commercialised than Playa Blanca); Costa Teguise and the Timanfaya National Park (where you can take camel rides !). We enjoyed eating Tapas at "La Bahia", Spanish at "Cafe Berrugo" (both at Playa Flamingo), Indian at Fazz's and Greek at "Sebastyan's" (both at "Mulata" shopping centre). Above all, we recommend driving 15km or so to "El Golfo" the site of the strange "Green Lagoon" and where there are many restaurants serving locally-caught fish, where we dined right on the coast watching the beautiful sunset. We particularly liked the food and service at "Lago Verde" restaurant. We took the ferry to Fuerteventura (watching flying fish evading the boat as we crossed!). Corralejo is quite a nice town (a cross between Playa Blanca and P. del Carmen), although the market was very disappointing.
We will have no hesitation in recommending this lovely villa and it's ideal location to our family and friends. We had a really super holiday and no day went by without spending part of it in the heated swimming pool. We couldn't fault either the interior or exterior of the property with plenty of room and all the necessary facilities. It was both peaceful and relaxing whilst being only 7 minutes drive to the resort centre. We had an 'elderly' Picasso, so others may get there in 5. An added bonus was the security gate at the entrance to the residential complex, giving extra peace of mind. Many thanks to Shaun and Lorraine. (Pam & Ray, Kenilworth)
Playa Blanca is located on the south of the island and still retains the atmosphere of a once small fishing village. This flourishing but tranquil resort is ideal for family and people looking for relaxation: with its beach borderlined by picturesque restaurants and a shop lined promenade, almost always basked in warm sunshine and offers superb views of the mountains and the island of Lobos and Fuerteventura.
From the harbour at Playa Blanca, ferries cross several times each hour to Fuerteventura.
Papagayo, the most gorgeous beaches on the island is a conservation area. Accessed by foot, car or water taxi, beach after beach, six in total, of golden sand and clear water, with some great snorkelling at their rocky edges.
Marina Rubicon has a selection of restaurants, cafes, bars, designer shops, galleries and market.
Timanfaya National Park transformed by the Volcanic eruptions is surreal, the landscape is totally unique, experience the lunar landscape and views of the volcanoes.
