The 160 person cable car on our doorstep whisks you to the top of the sunny Alpe D’Huez where skiers and riders can enjoy snowsport at all levels from beginners to thrill seekers.

Give your thighs a workout on 'La Sarenne', the longest run in the world, 16 km long and an incredible 2210 m vertical drop.

Nice apartment, within easy reach of both cable car and village. Well appointed property, warm, clean, light and airy. Good views from balcony.

Great Appartment well provided.

Lovely new clean, warm and spacious appartment( 2 adults and 2 teenagers). Well furnished including towels.Parking and ski room with ample space. Owner very responsive to queries and provides clear and comprehensive booking/arriving instructions. Agree Le Table de la Fare - lovely resteraunt and good advise on supermarkets - there seems to be new one by Grenoble airport - SuperU really convenient. Make sure you check out the activities on the notice board of the tourist authority when you arrive - plenty going on for younger children, though quiet for teenagers but night skiing on one night ( Monday? - may change) Book early for VO coaching -though ESF also very good. Spa only 18 plus - and you will need Speedos for the pool. Recommended and would go back.

Lovely apartment - great location

We stayed for 2 weeks in August 2012. The apartment was exactly as described, clean, well equiipped & great views from the balcony. The location is ideal for hillwalking & cycling (road or mountain), climbing, via ferrata - in fact any outdoor activities. The lift up into the mountains is only a few minutes walk. Vaujany is a lovely village with a few bars & restauarants & escalators up to the village centre if you're a bit tired after a day in the mountains.

There is plenty of walking within a short drive of Vaujany if you want to get away from the ski lifts & tows.The Ecrins national park is certainly worth exploring.

All in all an excellent location & comfortable accomodation, great to come back to after a day in the hills to watch the sun set from the balcony with a glass of wine.

The perfect skiing holiday

We where pleasantly surprised how close we were to the cable car that took us up the mountain every morning. There were no ques and easy access to the most amazing skiing area and surroundings, suitable for all abilities. Because of its high altitude the snow was still in good condition even later in the season. The fabulous weather - 6 days blue sky and sunshine - added to the wonderful experience.

Our party comprised 3 adults, who each needed their own private, separate sleeping area. This was no problem and Dave, who slept on the bed sette in the living area, assured us he was very comfortable.

The flat was well equipped and nicely furnished. We cooked ourselves the evening meals and found everything we needed. There was plenty of hot water for showers. The balcony offered stunning views and was perfect for a late afternoon apre-ski drink and last bit of sun bathing after a "hard days" skiing. The lift to the thrid floor was great for aching legs and feet. Another plus were the ski locker on the ground floor and garage, as we came by car. Once we arrived, having done our big shop in the supermarket in Os Oissans, we really did not need the car. The local shop was big enough to buy everything needed and, of course, to stock up with treats and local specialities. Although we did not go out much, as we were very happy to stay where we were to relax, there were plenty od bars and restaurants, which looked friendly and inviting. Thank you Jane and Rahil for an alltogether most enjoyable, memorable skiing holiday experience.

Vaujany apartment - great for Alpe d'Huez ski area

We stayed in the apartment over the Easter holiday and enjoyed ski-ing in the Alpe d'Huez ski area. Situated very close to the Vaujany cable car and gondola, the apartment is very well located in the village. The bread shop is only a short walk away in the morning, covered escalators run through the village to save a long up-hill walk to the small Sherpa supermarket. Better shopping can be had at the Casino supermarket in Bourg d'Osians which is about 20 mins away and on the road to Les Deux Alpes - worth a trip over for the day and free with a 6 day Alpe d'Huez pass. The apartment is compact but comfortable for our group - two couples, the DVD was welcome as French TV doesn't improve with age. Nice balcony which gets the afternoon sun and looks down the valley. The garage is available and when the snow is heavy would help protect your car. Only negative comment is that it could do with more seating in the lounge area, a sofa and a bean bag is barley adequate for 4 adults - this is a minor niggle given the good overall standard.

Winter holiday

Our family of four had a splendid winter holiday in Vaujany. We all enjoyed all the black and red pists on the upper parts of Grand Rousses ski area. If the weather had been slightly better, this would have been 100% perfect. My youngest daughter on 10 year, was a bit disappointed that she didn’t get the opportunity to try the “Tunnel” on Pic Blanc due to the weather conditions.

But the most importance for us renters, is the communication with the owners and the accomplishment of money transactions. Everything was just excellent and this is the main reason for giving 5 stars. The appartement is on the lower side of Vaujany and only minutes from the cable car which takes you to 2050 m.a.s.l in only 7 minutes. It is perfect for a family of four and it is modern and have a great view. Even though Vaujany is a steep village, it only takes about 10 minutes to reach the top from the appartment. Some bright brains have installed a couple of escalators in middle of the town :-). We experienced the whole area as non-snobbish. There are enough restaurants in Vaujany for a week stay. Our best experience was “La Table de la Fare”, best food, best presented, most friendly staff, and cheapest. Can’t ask for more. The other restaurants we tried was also a nice experience. Be aware of that the kitchen in all restaurants closes before 22.00.

I certainly recommend this appartment and Vaujany in general. And thanks to the owner for the excellent service.

Vaujany, recently rated by the Sunday Telegraph as the “second best ski resort in the world” has all the charm of a traditional French village and all the state-of-the-art facilities you will require during your stay.

It is linked to the Alpe Huez in the huge Grand Rousses ski area with 237km of piste and is at the foot of La Sarenne - at 18km, the longest piste in the world. The commune invested 3 millions euros this year in upgrading the extensive beginners area at Montfrais. For intermediate and advanced skiers there is fun to be had on long blacks and reds and plenty of off piste action for the adventurous.

Other Activities: snow boarding, ice skating, ice climbing, kayaking, cycling, wind-surfing

Ski: The Vaujany Ski Domain is an integral part of an enormous domain covering 8 village communal territories including the Alpe d'Huez.

The 160 place Cable Car systems takes you from the village to 8540 feet in minutes.The next stop up is 10156, 5 feet at the Pic Blanc looking out on to the Mont Blanc, the Grand Paradis, the Meije and the Ecrin National Park .

A choice from 237 km of managed slopes of all skill levels cutting through gulleys, glaciers and forests. It will satisfy the desires and ambitions of all kinds of skiers and riders, piste and off-piste, cross-country and racers.

The resort is well served by a large team from the ESF, but if you really want to make the most of your break, and prefer the personal touch, we highly recommend Monica at V.O. Coaching (www.vocoaching.net). Monica is an excellent and very experienced private ski and snowboard instructor. She is fun and friendly, speaks very good english and takes only small groups.
