Sarlat, Dordogne, self catering apartment in honey coloured stone cottage

The cosy and well appointed apartment is pristinely presented and is the ground floor of a beautiful honey coloured stone cottage. We are situated on the heights of Sarlat in tranquil surroundings with beautiful views across the valley and beyond. The accommodation is fully equipped with all you will need during your stay. Both the lounge and the kitchen-diner open up to a pretty terrace with lots of flowers and comfortable seating. Beyond the terrace is an expansive garden with mature trees and shrubs and plenty of areas to sit in mottled shade or to stretch out and soak up the sun. If you want somewhere away from it all yet with all amenities within easy reach then look no further. The medieval town of Sarlat is steeped in history with more listed buildings than any other in Europe. It is the gastronomic capital of the Perigord Noir and with a colourful and famous twice weekly market and a vast selection of the prettiest restaurants it is a town not to be missed when in the Dordogne

The Perigord region is famous for it's quality food and wine (of which Sarlat with an array of street entertainment is arguably the capital) available at very affordable rates. The town has a layed back and relaxing feel to it with a distinctive café culture to enjoy whilst watching the world go by. The nearest restaurant is just 100mtrs away and set in lovely gardens, offering quality cuisine and a relaxing atmosphere. We are perfectly placed for access to all of the most beautiful sites in Dordogne and Lot. There are numerous châteaux to visit, caves to explore and pretty market towns to meander through. There are also a wide range of activities close by to suit all ages. The area is a walkers paradise with hundreds of listed footpaths dotted all around the countryside taking in some of the most dramatic views, stunning countryside and most beautiful villages. After your day, return & relax on the secluded terrace with a glass of wine before dinner or perhaps lighting the barbecue

Notes: The terrace is a covered area allowing you to sit outside whatever the weather and enjoy the garden, dinner and a glass of wine. The garden has several seating areas and patio furniture. The kitchen diner, which is accessed through a door from the sitting room, also has a door and window opening onto the terrace which allows the morning sunshine to stream in. The kitchen is well fitted with all the utensils and equipment you may need during your stay. The washing machine is sited in the main house and can be accessed as required at times agreed with the owners. The apartment is immaculately clean and has a high standard of furnishings and fitments with good quality seating and beds to ensure you are comfortable during your holiday. The English owners live on site above the apartment and are quiet and unobtrusive.

Just wonderful

Wish we could have stayed... Our week in Sarlat at Pat and Derek's was a peak experience. Sarlat was a delightful surprise: very pretty and interesting with incredible restaurants and residents who know how to have fun and do so often. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with the Dordogne flowing past picturesque towns and fascinating attractions within easy reach, from Josephine Baker's chateau to the cave paintings at Lascaux -- and a bigger cave to be open soon. The downstairs unit for rent is very comfortable, and accessible. A spacious kitchen, livingroom/bedroom and ample bathroom, with all the amenities. Attractively furnished with plenty of closet & drawer space. Pat and Derek were delightful company as well as meticulous hosts. It was a stress-free, fun-packed week. We should have planned to stay longer!

We love that place, a perfect flat for two persons. The garden is also very nice and lovely to have diner aut doors. The owner is very helpfull and kitchen well equipped. Town fife minuts by car and ther is free parking near center of Sarla. The area is terific with small beautiful villages and many interesting spots. Beside the beautifull area food was also one of the targets and it was delicios to taste many famous products of Perigord Noir.

We found the apartment was well placed for getting into town or out to the local attractions. It was clean, spacious and the garden was very large. With the owners on site there was never a problem if we needed help. Sarlat is a beautiful town, and late September is a nice time to visit, when there are fewer people around, and it is still warm. We would recommend this apartment to anyone.

Quiet and relaxing

The apartment was comfortable, although the bed was softer than we are use to.The large garden is well planted and there is shade if required. We moved the table into the garden for breakfast in the sunshine and dined out there in the evening, where we were visited by deer, on 2 occasions, munching on the fallen apples. The walk into town takes about 20 minutes and is all downhill. A carafe of wine should be sufficient to make you oblivious to the climb back. Derek and Pat made us feel at home and we enjoyed our stay.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The spacious accommodation had everything provided. Good location for all Dordogne attractions but it was on top of a very steep hill and a car is a must.
