Amigdalospito (Almond House) in Kefalonia, has been lovingly restored keeping many original features such as the old wine press. It is furnished with a combination of antique and modern fixtures and fittings and equipped to a high standard to provide a luxurious and homely accommodation for up to 13 people in 7 bedrooms. The main house sleeps 11 and the cottage sleeps 2. Set on the hillside in the village of Vasilikades, a perfect retreat for a family or group holiday. A 3 minute walk to a taverna, cafe bar, supermarket, corner shop, petrol station and chemist. Another taverna, 10 mins walk overlooks the sea and the north of the Lixouri peninsula with gorgeous sunsets throughout the summer. 10 mins drive away is the popular and colourful harbour of Fiscardo and 15 mins drive to the quiet and picturesque fishing harbour of Assos with its imposing Venetian fortress. 20 mins drive is the famous Myrtos beach which is especially stunning when viewed from the northern cliffs above.

Our village is situated halfway between Fiscardo and Assos, both harbour villages steeped in history. Fiscardo, a pretty fishing harbour which survived the 1953 earthquake has many original Fishermens houses which are now brightly painted tavernas, cafes and shops. It has become a popular destination for tourists and for yachts and boats belonging to the rich and famous. Assos is still a small and sleepy fishing harbour with a few tavernas, nestling below an imposing Venetian fortress, with a small beach. There are several beaches nearby within a 10 to 15 minute drive and 20 minutes away is Myrtos beach which ranks in the top 10 worlds best beaches. The famous Drogarati cave, with its stalagmites and stalactites and where some years ago Maria Callas sang a concert for 300 people. The underground Melissani lake is nearby, where a boat can be taken inside, both are about 30 kms away, near Sami.

  • The main house consists of : Upper floor has 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin with a balcony access from upper hall which has futon sofa and reading area. 1st Floor has a king size bedroom with balcony, table and chairs. 1 double with balcony, table and chairs. 1 twin with long balcony, chairs and 1 single(with small fitted double bed). All 6 bedrooms in the main house have ensuite shower rooms. The lower floor is an open plan lounge, dining and raised galley style kitchen which is built on top of the old wine press. The cottage is a studio style space, open plan with a 2 seater antique sofa, oak drop-leaf dining table and chairs, large double bed,fully fitted kitchen and ensuite shower room. Outside covered seating area with table and chairs. In low season we sometimes offer bed and breakfast in the main house on a minimum 3 day basis and the cottage is self catering. Gardens of flowers, herbs and fruit trees surround the house. Large front terrace with wrought iron tables and chairs. The fabulous 35sq metre pool and large pool terrace have loungers, deckchairs, table and director style chairs. Set in walled and terraced gardens with Almond, Olive and Pines offering shade and many secluded areas to relax looking out over vineyards and rural mountain views
