Photos and Description of the County Wexford vacation cottage rental Self-catering rental with it's own pier and shore access. 3 beds, sleeps 7

St. Kierans Quay is an historic, listed cottage on the shores of Bannow Bay. It was originally a ships chandlers and coal quay and formed part of the famous Tintern estate which is within walking distance. The property and grounds are enclosed by 300 year old stone walls and surrounded by the sea on three sides - accessed through large gates - almost an island - making it a very private, peaceful retreat - very romantic and secluded. There is a stone pier, perfect for fishing and shore angling, birdwatching or just relaxing and watching the sun set over the bay. There are many historic places to visit locally and the area is suitable for walking, cycling, canoeing, sailing , horse-riding/pony trekking, golf and especially fishing. There is a pub and small shop locally - but the property is withing 30 mins of the towns of Wexford and Waterford. This property is a real rural retreat. Beautiful, traditional, relaxing home

Review Submitted: November 23, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We stayed here in early October for a week while visiting my daughter who was studying in Ireland. This home is very rural, so it is very quiet and realxing after spending days driving around Ireland. If you are planning on exploring the southeast coast of Ireland, this makes a beautiful "base camp". The house has everything you need, well equipped kitchen, laundry, etc. It is cosy, warm and inviting. Slipping into the sheets in the comfy beds at night was wonderful. The gardens, birds, the ocean right outside, was amazing. I loved walking along the roads and also the grounds of the Tintern Abbey right up the street. The house was once part of the estate!
Oh, and lets not forget the amazing deep soaking tub to slip into before curling up in front of the fireplace!
Sue met us at the house upon arrival with a pot of tea, and all the info we needed. There were maps available, and she was always just a phone call away if we had any questions.
Thank you Sue for an amazing stay while visiting your amazing Country!

From pier to plate - what a way to relax!

I first visited St. Kierans Quay in 2007 and all I can say is that once I passed through the original pier gates I had found a piece of heaven on earth! When you close the gates it’s as if you are on your own island. It is totally private, the perfect location for people who need to get away and unwind. The grounds are extensive and beautifully maintained with hidden areas with surprises like swings hanging from tree bows – just perfect for private moments of contemplation or rediscovering your inner child. You have your own private pier from which I have swum and also caught delicious sea trout and bass – from pier to plate in minutes. The house is warm and welcoming and is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with every modern convenience but cleverly disguised in a country cottage setting. My favourite are the bedrooms as all have classic wrought iron beds with patchwork quilts. I have been back every year since and this time booked it for the whole month of July. The owners are a delight and can not do enough to accommodate which is why I will be back again next year.

Will be going back!

This location was so stunning I was left speechless and that was a first as anyone will tell you! Excellent location for exploring around the Hook Head peninsula and even over to Passage East and Dunmore East. The house itself is beautifully decorated yet homely with plenty of old world charm. The views are breathtaking and the pier is the perfect place to share a bottle of wine with friends listening to the sea and the sheep! One of our party spent days painting the view from the balcony of the main bedroom. The owner was an absolute pleasure to deal with and we will definitely be going back!
