Less than 30 minutes from the Atlantic Coast with its warm climate, miles of sandy beaches, and lovely islands, Domaine de Chabrignac is set in the lovely French countryside amidst fields of sunflowers and vines in almost 2 acres of mature garden and orchard. Two self-catering gites are available for rental. There is an 11 m heated swimming pool as well as bicycles, a small gymnasium with multi-gym, rowing machine, exercise bike, etc., and a boules court with boules supplied. A child seat is available for one of the bicycles and there are swings and play equipment in the garden. Average summer temperature of the pool water is 28° Centigrade. If all that activity doesn’t sound like your idea of a fun holiday this is an ideal place for a leisurely dip, sunbathing, reading or simply relaxing in a hammock and enjoying the wine while you watch the beautiful sunsets on warm romantic summer evenings.

Situated at the heart of one of the most famous wine growing areas of France, between Cognac and Bordeaux, the area exemplifies the good things in life; a leisurely pace of life; a climate second only the South of France: fine wines, and gourmet dining. The lovely coastal town of Royan is nearby as is La Rochelle, with its historic harbour, bustling habourside restaurants and fabulous shops. Cognac with its old distilleries is only half an hour away. The ‘Route Vert’ runs along the side of the Gironde estuary and the rolling countryside with its wonderful views over the estuary will take you through timeless villages and harbours. Beaches nearby range from small, sandy coves at Meschers to stretches of fine sandy beaches at St George de Didonne and Royan and up to the lovely sand dunes and pine forests of the Cote Sauvage. The islands of Re, Oleron, and Aix are surrounded by miles of pine forest backed beaches with picturesque villages and harbours dotting the coastlines.
