Lasserre is a 200 year old farmhouse carefully restored to provide both authentic but also fully modern accommodation. All of the rooms are large with oak beams & high ceilings & have been furnished & equiped to a high standard. The house sits in an acre of garden, with a 10m by 5m salt pool, & on its own hill of a further 30 acres enjoying uninterrupted views over the adjoining valleys in one direction and the Pyrenees in the other. With no neighbour within half a mile, the only sounds you are likely to hear are those of birds or tractors. Despite this splendid isolation there are many local attractions within easy driving. The house is located near to the well known 'Route de Bastides et Castleneau' which includes some beautiful medieval villages. Their are local villages a short drive in all directions, including the pretty town of Marciac, famous for its annual August Jazz festival.

Gascony, or the Gers, is an area of rolling hills and farmland. Sparsely populated it has retained much of its historical sites & buildings from the 12th century onwards.The cities of Toulouse, Auch, Pau & Tarbes are all within easy driving distance, with Bordeaux, now a world heritage site, 2 hours away by car. In the near locality there is golf, tennis, riding, many outdoor pools or lake beaches, as well as many small, old & pretty villages to see (and of course as many places to have lunch or dinner to enjoy the local cuisine). The ski resorts of the Pyrenees are 1 1/2 hours drive away with Spain only a few minutes further.

  • The lounge has a large open fireplace with wood burning stove and 3 sofas. There is a TV with DVD player & satellite reception (as well as another TV & DVD player in the largest bedroom). The kitchen was designed for the house & is equipped with high quality cook ware. All bedrooms are a good size. With the exception of the 5th bedroom which is on the ground floor,all the rooms have wonderful views. Outside, adjoining terraces on 2 sides of the house overlook the pool and surrounding countryside,with fantastic views & all day sun. A seperate terrace above the garden store gives views towards the Pyrenees & offers an area of tranquillity, if needed, from the main terrace & pool area. There is also a boule court, badminton area, table tennis table & a challenging swing over the valley!
