Overview

Monterey Estate Rental Photos and Description

Estate, 5 Bedrooms + Den, 5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-14)

Chalone Pinnacles House is a 40 Acre 5,000 Square foot estate surrounded by Chalone Vineyards. This is the location of many famous Chalone stock holder parties. 3 wineries are within 5 minutes and 7 more within 20.

The house is perfect for 5 couples or 3 families of four. The views are stunning from nearly every room, deck, patio, pool, and jacuzzi.

There is also spectacular hiking at Pinnacles National Monument. We are 5 minutes from the western entrance. Pinnacles is very different with unusual talus caves and streams. You will probably see California condors. 5 hikes are available. Two easy and three pretty strenuous.

Hang by the pool in the sun. No fog up here at 1500 feet. The star gazing is spectacular. We are a 15 minute drive off of Highway 101. Super quiet.

There are 8 restaurants to 10 15 minutes away that can do take out.

Tons of activities. Super Setting. Historic California Property.

I can not believe we were lucky enough to buy this beautiful estate.

HOUSE DETAILS: Three levels. Upper, Middle, and Lower

The UPPER level has 2 big bedrooms (one king one queen) with gorgeous views and very private decks with a large bathroom between them.

The MIDDLE level has the entry, large kitchen, dinning room, pantry, and 2 large bedrooms (kings) with large bath in between. These rooms all have beautiful views. The bedrooms also have nice private patios with chaise lounges. There is also a bedroom (twins) with nearby bath. This room is the only room in the house with no view. Short straw gets this room. There is a huge patio off of the dining room with lots of room and jaw dropping views.

The LOWER level has the living room, den, large bath, half bath, wine cellar, and pool/media room. There is a fold outs in the pool room and one in the den to take the sleeping capacity from 10 to 14. This level opens up to the pool, the large patio around the pool, and the jacuzzi. All with stunning views.

About Bert

My name is Bert Fornaciari. My wonderful wife Linda and my son Jack, and daughter Carol are delighted to be fortunate enough to

let you enjoy Chalone Pinnacles House. We live in Portola Valley, California

Bert purchased this estate in 2012

Why Bert chose Monterey

This is a one of a kind property. It was built by the CEO of Chalone Wine Group. The first high end winery to go public. The builder of this house built up Chalone Winery then expanded the legacy of great wines with the acquisitions of: Accacia, Edna Valley, Carmenet, and Canoe Ridge. Later he sold Chalone Wine Group to Diageo a public premium beverage company that also owns Tanqueray, Dom Perignon, Cuervo and many other brands

What makes this estate unique

Gorgeous Views, Amazing Stars, Great Food, Quality wine selection. Super nice staff. This is my third vrbo property and I plan to make it be very high end but at a price many can afford.

Fantastic property on the way to the pinnacles, plenty of space, very quiet, great pool and hot tub, nicely appointed kitchen. A great place for holidays or family reunions.

Lovely and Welcoming Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been renting the P-House at Chalone for 10 years, the last several from Bert and Linda. We wouldn't miss it for the world. That first sight of the big, beautiful white house and the wonderful grounds is warming and welcoming - like coming home again. There is always more to do than there is time to do it, but we especially love to cook big delicious meals in the kitchen while we drink wine and talk and laugh. The pool and spa are always a treat and going for a walk through the vineyards and around the grounds is very special. Having the Pinnacles National Park just up the road for more extensive hiking is also something we take advantage of every year. Our thanks to Bert and Linda for sharing their lovely property.

We Love Chalone!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 3rd year I've rented Chalone with a group of friends and every time has been incredible. The setting is beautiful and the house is incredibly comfortable. We always cook group meals and love the open kitchen. Bert is very accommodating and easy to work with. All in all, I highly recommend Chalone.

Amazing house, a truly unique experience!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd year at Chalone and we had an amazing time. The setting is absolutely gorgeous- you are surrounded by vineyards without a soul in site. The pool is heated so you can swim anytime of day and the hot tub at night is unbeatable to watch the stars. There is also great hiking at pinnacles just a few minutes away. A perfect choice for a weekend away with friends spent cooking, relaxing by the pool and drinking wine. Bert is very attentive and accommodating- a truly unique experience!

Amazing, Relaxing, Tranquil, Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

This review is overdue, but here it is! My family, friends, and I stayed at the Chalone home for 5 nights and it was beyond amazing! I had my wedding there and it was so beautiful! We had 80 people who came to celebrate our day and everyone was so impressed and blown away by the beauty of Chalone home. Everyone who stayed there loved it! There is pretty much every little detail covered by Bert. There are tons of linens, kitchen supplies, and even pool toys! The property has everything you would want for the perfect vacation/wedding. Bert was so wonderful and accommodating! Thank you again Bert for everything you did for us! It was truly a memorable stay :) We are planning on having family reunions there or even just going back for a relaxing weekend! From the warm pool to the spacious home this place is the truly the best!!

Great Place to Get Away!

  • 4 of 5

I just spent Labor Day weekend at the Chalone house to celebrate my 50th birthday with a group of friends. The house is beautiful and very spacious. One of the main reasons I booked it was so none of my guests would feel cramped or as though they were stepping on each other (i.e. waiting for the bathroom). There was plenty of space for everyone to feel comfortable (and we had 12 people one night). Being in the middle of a vineyard provided all the seclusion one could ask for with the most breathtaking views! There's fun things to do nearby too, like wine tasting at the local vineyards, and hiking the Pinnacles, etc... Since there was nobody within miles of the house, we didn't have to worry about waking up the neighbors if we were outside on the deck late and boy what great big decks it had! You can't beat star gazing at night from the jacuzzi. It's incredible! The pool was invigorating and we spent a lot of time in it and again, the views were just stunning! We truly had a blast and wished we could have stayed longer than just a 3 day weekend. I would have given this 5 stars had it not been for a few things that weren't working or that could use some improvement (i.e. the stereo didn't work and the wireless network wasn't too reliable so we had a hard time getting music out there or using our phones, the jets in the jacuzzi didn't work so there were no bubbles, the trash compactor didn't compact, the pilot light on the gas stove was apparently off so we had to light it with a lighter every time we used it, some lightbulbs were out so it was a bit dark on the deck for eating dinner outside if you got started a bit late, but we did it anyway! haha, the chains on a couple of the bikes kept falling off...things like that). It does get hot there and you do need to open the doors to cool the house down and since many of the doors had no screens you end up with a lot of flies in the house which was annoying. Truly, though, it was all pretty minor stuff, for the most part, and easily fixable. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a great get away. For the most part, it fulfilled all of our expectations and the owner, Bert, is a really nice guy, so if you want a beautiful house with a lot of room and the best views you can imagine with all the seclusion you could ask for, this is the place to go! I couldn't have picked a better place to house all of my friends and to celebrate my 50th birthday. I would go there again in a heartbeat!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your thorough review and glad you had a great time ! Two new portable stereos are in place. I will tune up all the bikes. The trash compactor has never worked just use the recycling bins. The wireless is finicky up there it is so remote...just turn off and back on. We deliberately leave the pilot lights off since it is safer (wind can blow them out). Best to open only the screened doors to cool the house down. And yes the jacuzzi jets have only water coming out no air...been that way for years. Glad you can't wait to come back and again I really appreciate the feedback.

There is a small driving range (you have to retrieve the golf balls) Private Wine Cellar and wine tasting, 6 mountain bikes.

Mountain Climbing instruction available (extra) It's also fun to play wiffle ball golf around the property. There are 8 to 10 restaurants that can do take out 15 minutes away. You can also play whiffle ball golf on the property. For real golf you might want to play on the way to the property say Friday afternoon in San Jose, Monterey or Salinas. Or maybe play after you check out on Sunday on the way home.
