We are architects who designed and lived in this house ourselves. The house is lovingly cared for.
Venice needs no explanation, but we can tell you that it is the most walkable and 'livable' neighborhood in Los Angeles. It combines the best of the 'urban village' experience with the best of L.A.'s car culture. It has been our home for 15 years.
If you see someone walking in pajamas down the street shouting into a cell phone with a latte in one hand: meet the neighbors. There are many entertainment warriors in this area of Venice and you will love the easy-going yet no-nonsense vibe of the local restaurants, shops and cafes.
If you see a two-year-old running wildly down a quaint sidewalk with no car access, along picturesque fences and gardens: meet the other neighbors. The walk streets are very family-friendly and I spent countless hours meandering through them with my son in a stroller, just watching bees, birds and butterflies.
You will never want to leave this neighborhood. From the expansive glass ground floor, you can be surrounded by native CA plants either indoors or out. It is a very butterfly-friendly garden and children delight in watching them through the glass. Enjoy a wood-burning fire that seems to float in the garden. In contrast to this open space, snuggle up in the cozy and very private bedrooms above and luxuriate in a very deep bathtub on the top floor. Afterwards, have a glass of wine on the top floor deck.
