We grew up in the Central Valley of California, but we LOVE the mountains! It was a long-held dream of ours to be able to own a cabin in the pines, and after we retired we were able to make that dream a reality.
Bill and Sue purchased this cabin in 2011
We have cherished photos of 5 generations of our family taken in the Pinecrest Lake area. We love it here and have been coming up every year as a family ever since our children were very small.
We had been looking for some time for a cabin to love and we were so fortunate to be able to find this one in 2011. As soon as we drive past the first fragrant stand of pine trees near Twain Harte, we find ourselves in vacation mode.
We especially enjoy all the outdoor activities available - from driving over the stunning SONORA PASS to Bridgeport, HIKING around Pinecrest Lake (something everyone should do at least once), taking an easy day trip to YOSEMITE, FISHING in the nearby lakes, HORSE BACK RIDING at Kennedy Meadows, and of course SWIMMING in Pinecrest Lake or Beardsley Reservoir.
OUR HUGE FRONT DECK IS ONE THAT EVERYONE WILL ENJOY! It receives just the right amount of sun and shade to sunbathe or read. At night, the stars seen above the trees are a wonder! Although our kitchen has everything a cook may need, there are outstanding restaurants a short drive away. We enjoy the wonderful Italian food at Mia's, the oversized hamburgers and steaks at The Steam Donkey, and driving up to Kennedy Meadows for a mountain air breakfast.
If you enjoy horse-back riding, you'll find it nearby in the Dodge Ridge area and at Kennedy Meadows.
Twain Harte is 20 minutes away and has great restaurants, golfing and boutique shopping.
Sonora is an easy 30 minute drive and has an abundance of grocery stores and eateries. The Sierra Repertory Theater in Sonora offers truly outstanding live productions year round.
In the winter months, skiing and snow boarding at Dodge Ridge is minutes away. There are wonderful sledding hills nearby for the younger ones. In the summer you'll be glad to have a place like our cabin to 'come home' to.
When the sun goes down, you can savor your favorite beverage in front of the fire or on the deck.
Our home is across the street from the Stanislaus National Forest with hiking trails and nature walks. In the evening, don't be surprised to see deer munching near the driveway.
Although our cabin sits tall in the trees, it's possible to drive right next to the deck, leaving you with only a very minimal number of stairs to climb - especially convenient when carrying your gear in.
WE ENJOYED OUR STAY IN YOUR BEAUTIFUL CABIN. YOUR CLEAN CABIN IS SO COZY AND WARM AND WE ENJOYED IT SO MUCH! THIS WAS A REALLY NICE GETAWAY FOR MY WIFE AND I, ESPECIALLY COMING UP FROM LOS ANGELES. THANK YOU AGAIN SO MUCH. (WILL YOU SELL YOUR CABIN TO US, MY WIFE LOVES IT:) !
THANKS AGAIN - WE HOPE TO RENT THIS LOVELY CABIN AGAIN!
We really enjoyed our stay here. All was set up well and a great place to come with kids.
Absolutely loved this place. CLEAN, comfortable and well-maintained. In a very peaceful setting away from the noise of the campers. There is a pizza place nearby for the night off for cooking Photos did not do it justice. Teenagers actually playing board games what a concept!
Loved the way it was decorated. We have been going to Pinecrest for the last 20 years and have either camped or stayed in Strawberry or at Pinecrest Lodge. This was so much better.
Owners touch reflects a labor of love. Friendly, professional owner.
Lake is a 5 minute drive away
This Home in the mountains was above and beyond what we had expected. It was SO Clean, Decked out with Beautiful wood floors, BIG shower, BBQ and a Safe and inviting Vibe! Did I mention CLEAN?! We began planning future trips back before we had even left. Added bonus: The owners are extremely nice and easy to work with, over All an A+ Experience!
Our stay at this lovely cabin was very special. We celebrated a family birthday and the owners even left a birthday card and welcome gift for us! We found everything to be very clean and up-to-date, from the spotless kitchen and bathrooms to the kitchen that had everything we could have asked for.
The cabin was decorated very nicely - simply charming!
It was a huge plus to have all linens provided for the comfy beds as well as new and plush towels.
Our 3-generational family of 5 found this cabin very comfortable and easy to live in. The beds were great, the kitchen appliances up to date, the deck, large and surrounded by trees, is inviting. The cabin shows excellent maintenance. We appreciated the no pets rule, and the owners supplied us with hypoallergenic linens for our grandson with asthma. Email correspondence with the owners was prompt and very friendly.
We had a great time, for a much needed Vacation, away from work, phones, etc. We loved the cabin. very relaxing, inviting. Enjoyed a game of Monopoly. Relaxed on the Deck, BBQ'd and enjoyed the evening with a Bottle of Wine. The evenings were mostly clear (saw the moon, stars). Heard a few helicopters in the distance (Rim Fire). Very close to Pinecrest Lake - went fishing on the lake, had a pretty good day!! We would definitely come back again.
The Owners were great, helpful. Cabin was very Clean, Spacious Kitchen. Lots of nearby activities, Pinecrest Lake (Outdoor Movies, Fishing, Steam Donkey Restaurant) Twain Harte, Sonora, Black Oak Casino - Mi Wuk Village , Pizza in the Sky (great!!).
A 4 minute walk leads you to National Forest Trails with wonderful views.
If exploring the Gold Country interests you, a short drive down the hill will bring you to Twain Harte, Sonora, Columbia, Jamestown and Murphys. You'll learn how America's biggest gold rush started, visit historic buildings or ride a historic steam train.
